Bring Water Bottles

Hello parents, our classroom sink has been shut off due to items being shoved down the drain, causing damage that needs to be repaired by a district plumber. Although I encourage students to always have water bottles with them at school, it is even more important now as trips to the water fountain can be disruptive during class time. Thank you!

Inside Days

On those rainy winter and spring inside days at Nelson we’ll be learning lots of ways to move our bodies to get some energy out. We started by borrowing some ropes and trying some Chinese jump rope! We had tons of fun, I don’t know about our friends in room 103… Click on the smiley for some pics!

I Like Winter Because…

Inspired by the start of winter, we brainstormed why this season is some students’ favourite! To see our writing and artwork, click on the YOUNG ARTISTS tab above!

Catching Snowflakes!

All About Me

Early this school year Division 8 and 9 students introduced themselves through All About Me artwork.
Wow started with photos of us, added magazine lettering for our title and then finished with hand drawn details about what makes us us!

🧡 Everyone Matters 🧡

Orange Shirt Day is recognized annually on September 30th, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.

Division 8 students met with their little buddies in Division 15 and traced their hands, then wrote in the hand something they can do to help others feel like they matter.

Our Last Day

Our last morning together…we watched a photo story of all of our fun we’ve had together over the last 10 months, signed autograph pages for each other and I shared one of my very favourite Dr. Seuss books, Oh, the Places You’ll Go.

A big Thank you to you and your families for sending your Flat Stanleysimages all around the world this year. It’s been so exciting having them return with pictures, mementos, postcards and so much great information about the places they visited. I look forward to receiving more when I return to Nelson in September. If you’ve still got yours, please take lots of pictures around town & in your travels abroad! If you’ve sent yours and do not have one, click HERE to print off another. I can’t wait to see all the places that you explore this summer!

Love you Division 8, have a TON of fun this summer and I can’t wait to see you all in the fall!  t4511Ms. Watt

Oceans Presentation 🐳 ~ please comment

Primary classes at Nelson were fortunate to have a viewing of the movie A Plastic Ocean this week. It showed us the environmental impact of all of the plastic we use and throw away everyday.
Division 8, what can you do to help with the problem of plastic waste polluting our oceans?
Each of us can make a difference and an impact on those around us.
(parents, this powerful documentary is available on Netflix)

I never use plastic single use bottles of water and I will not use plastic bags when I buy groceries at the store. What is your promise to our oceans?
