St. Michaels Visit

On Monday morning, we visited Saint Michaels with Miss Gatenby’s grade 1s   & 2s for our last time this year and sang for the seniors.
I’m so proud of how everyone performed and were so respectful in a much different environment than you’re used to. Way to go grade 3s! I loved watching the seniors sing along with big smiles on their faces.
Thank you St. Michaels for spoiling us with snacks and goodie bags!

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Division 7 & 8 have been learning about healthy eating this term and students are bringing home their Vegetables and Fruit SMART Goals sheet today. Click on the image below if you’d like to read more about Canada’s New Food Guide which emphasizes eating plants, drinking water and cooking at home.Your child has set a goal for this coming week. Everyone’s goal is a little different, but they all include eating more fruits and vegetables.
Ms. Tsumori and I would appreciate it if families can help their child reach their goal, or you are welcome to adjust it so that it is S.M.A.R.T. for your family.

S ~ Specific  M ~ Measurable  A ~ Attainable  R ~ Realistic  T ~ Timely

We’ll be discussing everyone’s progress when we meet again next week.  Please return the sheet on Wednesday. Thanks so much for your continued support!

Bring Water Bottles

Hello parents, our classroom sink has been shut off due to items being shoved down the drain, causing damage that needs to be repaired by a district plumber. Although I encourage students to always have water bottles with them at school, it is even more important now as trips to the water fountain can be disruptive during class time. Thank you!

Inside Days

On those rainy winter and spring inside days at Nelson we’ll be learning lots of ways to move our bodies to get some energy out. We started by borrowing some ropes and trying some Chinese jump rope! We had tons of fun, I don’t know about our friends in room 103… Click on the smiley for some pics!

I Like Winter Because…

Inspired by the start of winter, we brainstormed why this season is some students’ favourite! To see our writing and artwork, click on the YOUNG ARTISTS tab above!

🧡 Everyone Matters 🧡

Orange Shirt Day is recognized annually on September 30th, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.

Division 8 students met with their little buddies in Division 15 and traced their hands, then wrote in the hand something they can do to help others feel like they matter.
