Butterflies!!

We released our butterflies today and luckily got a picture with a few before they flew off into the beautiful bushes of Nelson. Click HERE to see our photos!

Student Led Conferences

Your child brought home an envelope of work today that they’ve been doing over the past 8 months. Please enjoy going through the work over the weekend and celebrate all of your child’s hard work!
There is a reflection sheet to complete with your child when you’re done.
Please return all items by next Wednesday, April 27th.

Auto Bio Poems

Division 9 has been creating All About Me poetry! We’ve been writing about our favourite foods, clothes, people, places…what scares us, makes us happy…what we give to others and what we need from those around us.

Recess and Lunch Changes

After Spring Break, students will be returning to eating their recess snacks outside during their recess break from 10:20-10:40. Please keep this in mind when packing your child’s snack. Students will also be able to go outside after eating their lunch as of 12:10, instead of the split lunch hours that we’ve been having.
Any questions? Please let me know!

100 Days in Division 9!

February 22nd marked 100 Days of School for the 2021/22 school year!
We wrote about what we thought we’d be doing “when I’m 100 years old…” and added some pretty great pictures 🙂 Click above to see pictures of us at 100!

PEACE POPPIES

Have you ever wondered what does Peace Looks like? Smells like? Feels like? Tastes like? Sounds like? Our Grade 2 and 3s wrote beautiful poetry with accompanying pictures to describe what Peace means to them.

Save the Turkeys!

Poor turkeys don’t want to be eaten on Thanksgiving, so Division 9 students were given the task of disguising their turkey! Using anything they could find around home, they dressed their turkeys so that they wouldn’t be found and put on the table for Thanksgiving dinner.

The turkeys are now safely hidden in our classroom. *whew!*

Spelling Begins This Week!

Our first Spelling words of the year are our classmates names! It’s always great knowing how to spell our friends names, practice for Valentines etc., and Ms. Watt will be using them in our dictation sentences throughout the year. This paper comes home today and students will be tested on the names next Monday. Please click on the SPELLING tab above to find dozens of fun ways to practice your spelling words this week and all year long!

What is the Story of Your Name?

Hello Grade Threes! Below are the questions you took home last night to answer. Here are the answers from my mom. I can’t wait to hear all of your wonderful name stories today!

My Name: Stephanie Danielle
Who was I named after? Why? You weren’t named after anyone.
Why did you choose my name? I liked the sound of the name and wanted something unique. At the time I didn’t know any family or friends with the name.
What does my name mean? crown or garland (Greek origin)
Was I named before before or after I was born? Before
Were you considering other names for me? Yes! I really liked Charlotte but it wasn’t very popular. I wanted to name you Amy but then your initials would be A&W, like the restaurant. I also liked Vanessa but your initials would be VW, like the car. Jennifer was considered as well but your uncle had just married a girl named Jennifer and I didn’t want two Jennifers in the same family.
I would have liked a more German name (my mom is from Germany) like Angelika, but I didn’t think people would pronounce it correctly, after having my own name, Regina, mispronounced for years.
I think the name Stephanie suits you very well!
