G is for GAMES

~ GAMES! We celebrated with playing games all morning and then cheering on the intermediates as they competed in the Tug of War preliminaries in the afternoon.  

F is for FREEZIES & FREE TIME

F ~ We took advantage of the hot, sunny weather & headed outside today for some FREE TIME and cooled down with some refreshing FREEZIES!

E is for ESTIMATION

E ~ Jujubes, Runts, SweetartsJelly Beans… Count the Candies!!
We spent the morning using referents & good ‘ol fashioned thoughtful guesses to ESTIMATE how many candies were in the jars.
After all the Guessing Jar estimates had been counted, the winners were announced today. Drumroll please………
Alexandra, Shimer, Kaitlyn and Tamara from division 7!
Well done to all Division 8 students for their excellent estimates! Can’t wait to enjoy the candies at another Alphabet Countdown day very soon…

C is for CHALK

We met up with our Little Buddies in Division 15 and got our creative juices flowing as we decorated Nelson’s cement surfaces with our chalk pictures & writing.

~ bubbles, Bubbles, & MORE BUBBLES! Using hand made pipe cleaners and with the wind in our favour, we created hundreds of beautiful bubbles!!

ALPHABET COUNTDOWN

For the rest of the school year we’ll be celebrating each day with a letter, or two. We’ll be participating in activities &/or dressing in something special to make our last month together memorable & lots of fun!
Tomorrow we begin with our stuffed nimals!

Y is for YIPEEE!!! …

Y ~ We celebrated the accomplishments of Nelson’s Intermediate students in the morning during the awards ceremony. Can’t wait to see you up there next year Grade Threes!
After lunch, we gathered with the whole school at Secret Park and had our last Literacy Celebration as we read with our friends in the sunshine.
Lastly, at the end of the day we had YIPPEE, it’s YEAR END free time!

W is for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

W ~ WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE! One of Ms. Watt’s favourite books. After watching a video reading of Where the Wild Things Are we played a Jeopardy type game to test our knowledge of Maurice Sendak’s book.
Way to go Group 3 for your success!

V is for VACATION FROM SCHOOL

V ~ VACATION from School at Suncrest Water Park! We spent our morning playing in the spray park, on the playground and relaxing on our blankets with our friends. Cool, windy weather unfortunately had us heading back to school after lunch, but we got a quick side visit with Ms. Lawder at South Slope.
