  • 1. I would say that I quite enjoy our daily morning walks. I love how we get to walk and breath in that fresh air in the morning, so I would rate our daily walks with a strong 8.

    2. My most favourite part on our walks is that we get to talk to our friends during the walk. It is always nice to socialize with my friends, and that we also get to run or jog during our laps.

    3. I don’t think there doesn’t need to any changes to our walks at all. The 2 laps is perfect enough to get us ready for the rest of the school day, and that our daily walks are already perfect enough. Overall, NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING should be added or changed on our morning walks.

    4. Our daily walks make me feel pretty good that I get to walk and breath fresh air in the morning. The fact that we also get to socialize and talk to our friends make our morning walks feel much greater.

    5. I think the benefits to our morning walks are that we get to have a little break in the morning by taking 2 laps, and that it kind of prepares you for whatever is going to happen during the rest of the school day. Therefore, I think the benefits to morning walks are very positive and gives students some sort of break at school.

    6. Yes, I quite do find our morning walks are a GREAT break from our academic class time. Walking, running, or jogging 2 laps around to school is already the perfect break from our classes, and we get to breath fresh air, while talking to our friends or classmates. I think that morning walks are great for stepping away a bit from the long class hours during school, and I feel like more teachers should do this with their students.

    7. I guess I got to know my classmates better during morning walks, but mainly I just talk and socialize with my friends during our daily walks. So morning walks helped me a bit to get to know my classmates I don’t really talk to, but I just have small conversations with them because I don’t really know them well to have a good conversation.

  • Morning walk,

On a scale of 1-10 I enjoy our morning walk like a 9. My favorite part of the morning walk is probably the peace and fresh air. I wouldn’t like to change anything about the morning walk. The daily walk makes me feel relaxed and it helps me clear my head. Some benefits I’ve noticed on the morning walk is that it helps to make people calm down and it also gives us a break from sitting at our desks all day which I think is important. I feel like our daily walks are a great break from our busy academic schedule because we get to get up from our desks and move around and stretch, also get fresh air and clear our heads from all the stress and it also gives us a time to socialize with our friends. I haven’t really formed any new friendships or connections as a result from our morning walk but I have interacted with new people I don’t usually interact with and sometimes walked with them as a result of our morning walk.

  • 1. I rate the daily walks a 9.5 because we get to eat, talk to others, and run around before gym or a subject in class.
    2. My favorite part of our daily walks is I get to eat because I never get to eat breakfast.
    3. I don’t see anything that could be added for our daily walk because I get to eat and talk to others which seem to be enough.
    4. Going on a daily walk makes to feel less stressed because our class has so much work to do everyday.
    5. Some benefits I have noticed is everyone seems to be less stressed rather than being a little anxious like in class and everyone seems to be more free during our daily walks.
    6. Yes, I do feel like it helps because it relieve some stress during school because sometimes there could be a test and I just forget about during the morning walk. It also sort of is a snack time because we don’t have a snack time.
    7. No, I haven’t gained any new friends because everyone just walks with their friends and our class is friendly so there’s no point of walking with someone for me.

  • 1) On a scale 0f 1-10 I would rate it a 9.

    2) I can have a break, eat snacks, and chat with my friends.
3 ) Yes, I would want us to walk more laps around the school instead of just two laps.
    4) It makes me feel happy because I can have a break.

    5) No not really. I do not notice any benefits during the walk.

    6) Yes, it is a really good break from our academic schedule.

    7) No I have not have any new connections or friends.

  • 1. I would rate it a solid 9.5 out of 10. Because we get to take a break from work plus we’re allowed to take our snacks out and talk to our friends.

    2. My favorite part of the the morning walk is probably just talking to my friends I don’t really know why I just like to.

3.I don’t think anything could be be changed or added. I like the way it is.

    4. Going on the daily walk makes me feel refreshed and ready to work, it is nice to have a break

    5. Yes, I noticed 2 benefits a snack break and a work break, the snack break allows us to energize us for the entire morning and the work break just gives us a work break.

    6. I think it is a good brake from our work it gets our body moving and refreshes our hunger.

    7. No not really I haven’t made any new friends or connections on any of these walks.

  • I like the morning walk. It is fun to be outside with my friends. I feel happy when we are going for our morning walk. I enjoy walking with Ms. D. Going on the morning walk is a 10 for me.

  • If I would choose on a scale from 1-10 from how much I enjoy walking then it would probably be a strong 10. I enjoy morning walks a lot because I get to socialize among my peers and talking is one of my favorites and also I primarily enjoy going outside. One of my favorite parts of our daily walks is socializing meaning that I could talk to my friends about any topic and not get in trouble and also observing my surroundings, admiring nature and stuff. Something I would like to see changed is the amount of laps we get. In my own perspective, I believe that 2 laps isn’t enough because we’re mostly sitting and we need more exercise to make up for it. Maybe increasing the laps by 1 or 2. Going in laps makes me feel really relaxed and my mood elevating. It makes me feel this way because I really enjoy walking because it makes me feel relaxed knowing that I could of a piece of my mind without any stress. Just walking and talking. However, then the stress comes back to me when the laps are done because I know I have to do work for 5 more hours. I noticed that when we go out for morning walks, it makes me feel more relaxed and focus. Going on daily breaks are a really good break for academic schedule because some kids might be stressed out from the amount of assignments that are getting thrown at them so taking a daily walk would relieve their stress and hopefully keep them focused and stuff. I formed a a lot of connections throughout the past from daily walks because I get to talk more and like connect more because I feel like daily walks helps me connect with friends by talking with them and daily walk is perfect for that because it’s basically socializing and stuff.

  • Q1 A: 10 because it is a time to reflect and think for me.
Q2 A: My favorite part about our daily walks is the walks and going outside to take a breath of air outside.
Q3 A: No, because I like the way it is.
Q4 A: Going on the morning walks made me feel like there is a break form working.
Q5 A: I notice that the benefits for our morning walk is having a snack break and having a time to think and reflect.
Q6 A: Yes, I think this is a good break form our academic schedule.
Q7 A: There are some connections as a results of our daily walks that is sometimes I talk to friends that I don’t talk with a lot.

  • On a scale of 1-10, I would enjoy daily laps like a 9, because each time I go for one, I get some fresh air and my legs stretch and feel better because I just sat down for a long time.
My favorite part of our daily walks is breathing in fresh air because sometimes the air in our class smells bad so when I go for daily walk I breath in normal air that doesn’t stink like trash cans by the street in Hastings.
There is nothing I would like to see change in our daily walks.
Daily walks makes me feel relaxed because I am getting fresh air and stretching my legs after a long time of sitting down.
I’ve noticed that every time I go for daily walks, my legs feel better because they get stretched.
I feel like daily walk is a good break from our academic schedule because it allows us to go out and get some fresh air and stretch our legs from a long time of sitting.
I haven’t formed any new friendships or connections as a result of our daily walk.

  • 1. On a scale of 1-10, I enjoy our morning walks as an 8.5. I enjoy it this much because I don’t like going on the walks when it is raining, but I do enjoy it when it is sunny or good weather. But I also don’t like when it is too hot or too cold.
    2. My favourite part of the daily walk is when it is sunny or nice weather. I really enjoy going outside when it is nice weather because I like the fresh air.
    3. Yes, I would like it even more if we would only have to do 1 lap on rainy or snowy days because in my opinion, it feels kind of gross to be walking in rainy weather because I personally don’t enjoy it at all. But I do really enjoy walking in nice weather so I would like to keep walking 2 laps on sunny days.
    4. Going on daily morning walks makes me feel refreshed after sitting in class for a long period of time because I get to breathe fresh air and I also like to look at nature at talk to friends. It also makes me feel happy when getting to talk to friends and breathe fresh air.
    5. In my opinion, I haven’t really noticed many benefits in going on morning walks, but, I will say that I have enjoyed going on walks even more.
    6. Yes, I really do feel that going on these morning walks are a great way to have a good break from our academic schedule because this way, we are able to socialize after a long period of academic schedule and we’re also able to take a break and have a snack or some fresh air as well.
    7. No. I haven’t made any new friends from these morning walks, but I still enjoy walking with my friends during the morning walk and talking with them.

  • 1) My honest opinion of our daily walks out of 10 is 7 because, I think we should do a bit more than 2 laps at least no more than 4 laps.

    2) My favourite part of our daily walk in when it’s sunny because the sun is warm not hot.

    4) It feels more natural now, but the first time I did it, it felt weird because me thinking why do I have to do it, but now it felt more natural to do it.

    5) To me it gives me more energy if I do the daily walk, I don’t know how, but it might differ form person to person.

    6) Most of the times it feels like I’m getting ots of rest do to the walk, but when it’s Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I feel nervous because that’s the time when we’re going for gym and I hate gym!

    7) I don’t know because, I always walk with the teacher not anyone else.

  • The Daily Walk is one of the most loved activities in our class. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate the experience an 8.5. It’s nice to walk around the perimeter of the school with your friends, especially when the weather is nice, talking about whatever you want to talk about, your legs moving one in front of the other, guiding you along the cement paths mindlessly, while your only focus is your current conversation.

Of course, Mrs. Smith’s Division 1 isn’t the only class that does Daily Walk. When I was first introduced to this concept, I was in Mr. Trask’s class- when I was in Grade 5. In fact, I still like Mr. Trask’s Daily Walk more. There, we were given 8 minutes and could walk or run however many laps around the school as we wanted. There was even a chart to record who does the most laps! My friends and I usually did 4-5 laps, but some super athletic kids would sometimes run more than 10 laps! In Mrs. Smith’s, we simply walk 2 laps, no time limit. I wish Daily Walk was longer. I also wish that we were less busy with school-work… Daily Walk is sometimes skipped due to an overflowing schedule.
Daily Walk is really relaxing. It’s a break from the lessons. Sometimes, we are sad to go on morning walk, since the lesson is really interesting, but sometimes we are glad for the rest. Some lessons aren’t as interesting as others, and we might just be tired to begin with. I suppose the right word to describe Morning Walk is “rejuvenating”. When we get back to class, I tend to focus better. It’s like someone hit the “optimize” button in my brain.

While I haven’t made any new friends through Daily Walk, I do feel that it’s helped me strengthen the friendships I already have. Each time, I find out something new about my friends, laugh at new and old jokes, or learn something new in general.

  • 0. (Not part of the questions, just for fun.)
The morning walk, through, rain, snow and hail, we march these 500 meters. A rather noisy silence, a speaking peace. Debate, information exchange, held in the relative serenity of the school greenery, even the roar of car engines fading into the background. 15 minutes without chaos, such a fleeting time.

    1. So, the morning walk in my view is a figurative, and literal ‘breath of fresh air’. A time to look forward too. A break from either the chaos and noise of the class, or its mediocrity and menial-ness of regular classroom activity. I would rate it from its worst at a 6, to its best at a 10. Averaging at a solid 8.

    2. Primarily, the daily walk is a vehicle, for me, to share my ideas on many a-thing, from events now, to events that were. It lets me have some time allotted for social interaction with my friends. That, and again, a break from either the overstimulation, or boredom that often permeates through the class at times.

    3. I have two proposals for change in the morning walk, for one, plainly making the morning walk longer/ adding more laps to do, which is rather simple. Then, the one I prefer is, instead of a lap time limit, something closer to the Mr. Trask system of a set time to do as many laps as possible, maybe even record the amount of laps each child has done in that time and record it in a chart, like Mr. Trask, but that may be a hassle. Otherwise, the morning walks is pretty much fine as is.

    4. For the 4th time now, peace, the walk is peaceful for me-elation. With debate I guess there is also a satisfaction with being allowed to share my ideas, and engage in respectful intellectual discussion, but otherwise. I’ve answered this question already.

    5. Again, really? Let me quote myself from previous answers: “(The morning walks is) A break from either the chaos and noise of the class, or its mediocrity and menial-ness of regular classroom activity… (It lets students) have some time allotted for social interaction with… (their) friends.” Happy?

    6. (sigh) Yes, yes I do think it is. Just read my answer to question five.

    7. Finally, something new! While it has I suppose aided in bolstering my pre-existing friendships, aside from I suppose letting me begin engaging in conversation with Ms. Smith, no, It hasn’t brought me new friendships, sadly.

  • On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the enjoyability of our daily walks a 7.

I definitely enjoy stopping our academics and leaving the classroom the most for the daily walk. It gives us a chance to move in a space that’s more than the rather crammed classroom and also gives us time to talk about someone that isn’t academic related.

As a former student of Mr. Trask, the class was expected to do a minimum of 4 laps (1 kilometer) around the school on our daily laps. We could do as many laps as we wanted, as long as we completed them in no longer than eight minutes. I would want the same to apply for this class as well, because I think two laps isn’t enough, although I know many would disagree with me.

The daily walk makes me feel like I can breath properly, because the air outside is more pure. I feel like I can get my head off of my schoolwork and think about something else.

I’ve noticed that I can focus more after the daily walk and my mind feels more organized. This is probably because all the fresh air and moving around refreshed my brain.

Going on a daily walk is a good way to give us a break from all the lessons and schoolwork. We get to think about whatever we want, talk about anything we want, and get our minds off of the stress of our academics.

Never in my life have I ever became friends with someone on the daily walk. I usually walk with someone who I am already friends with, and I don’t talk to other people who I am not friends with.

  • 1. On a scale of 1-10, I enjoy our walks as a 9. I enjoy our daily walks so much because it’s a time where we all get to go outside and get fresh air and clear our heads. Its nice because is gives everyone a break from sitting at their desks which helps many people work better. I prefer to go on walks when its warm outside, but not too hot because I dislike walking in the freezing cold or the burning hot weather.

    2. My favorite part of our daily walks is when the weather is nice so the walk is peaceful. When it’s cold, windy, or rainy its not very relaxing and it doesn’t refresh my brain. When the weather is warm out but not too hot it’s very calm and nice.

    3. In my opinion, nothing needs to be changed or added to the walks. They’re a pleasing length and a nice space to walk in.

    4. When we go on daily walks it makes me feel relaxed and gives me time to actually think about what we just learned. It makes me feel very refreshed being outdoors, and happy that I get to talk to my friends. These walks also help me feel less overwhelmed with the stuff we learned because it’s a break from learning.

    5. Some benefits I have seen in myself is that I work better after the walk. The fresh air and nature refreshes my whole head and makes me feel calm. If we just have learnt something in class and then we go on the walk I remember what we learned a lot more.

    6. I feel like our walks are a great break from our academic schedule. After lots of learning, kids’ brains can be very overwhelmed with all the stuff. Morning walks are a perfect time to relax and think about stuff other than learning.

    7. I have not formed any new friendships during our walks but I’m sure many other kids have. Morning walks are a perfect time to talk to and interact with new people that you normally don’t talk to.

  • ( 1.) I feel like a 7 out of 10 for morning walks. It is very enjoyable and I think most people would agree. It just makes me feel happy. I can take a nice deep breath and not worry about what is happening around me. I can get chatty or I can walk and think to myself.

(2.) I think morning walk is a great activity. It’s fun. I can get a chance to not think about work and just enjoy the nature. My favourite part about morning walk is chatting with my friends I really enjoy chatting and talking.

(3.) I think maybe we could add a 3rd lap to morning walk, that would be nice. You can take a little bit longer of a break I don’t think that would be making a huge impact in our schedule.

(4.) I feel calm, relaxed, and happy. Morning walk is great. Not many classes have morning walks and I think they should. It could always change the way their students act.

(5.) My mind feels like I’m ready to work. My body feels energetic. I just feel more lively. It really does change how you think and how you feel. It’s also good not to sit all the time as sitting a lot can be bad for your body.

(6.) I think morning walks are a great break to our academic schedule. It’s good to have breaks otherwise we might go crazy. It also doesn’t make a huge impact to the schedule so why not have it in our schedule?

(7.) No, I have not made any friends from morning walks, but I do get a chance to chat with my friends outside which helps with connecting with my friends. I do think that it is possible to make friends from going out for morning walks. It shouldn’t be hard to makes friends from morning walks, but I do think that it is most likely easier to make friends during lunch or recess.

  • 1. On a scale of one to ten I think daily walks are a 9 because it is a time to get fresh air and to stretch. You can also eat your snacks while it is daily walk.

    2. My favorite part about daily walks is eating my snacks since I am always starving. I also like to socialize with my friends. I also like running around during daily walk.

    3. I think they should add more laps to daily walk because I don’t think two or one lap is enough. They should add three or four laps instead. I don’t think anything needs to be changed, but all I think is that we should add more laps.

    4. Daily laps makes me feel calm and it makes me feel good. The fresh air makes me feel good, it is like a very cool breeze.

    5. Some benefits is that it gives a break from working so you can rest. It also helps you for the rest of the of the day. Since at school we are always sitting down all day, daily walk helps us move around and walk.

    6. Yes, I think daily walks is a good break from academic school hours. Daily walk is a way to get outside and get away from all the long classes. We can also walk or run around and talk with friends during morning walk. It is a good break from all those long classes.

    7. Not really, I usually talk with my friends during morning walk, but I got to learn more about my friends during morning walk. I sometimes talk to new people, but we never formed any new friendship or connections. Usually I don’t talk to people that I don’t know so I usually talk with my friends during morning walk.

  • 1. I think morning walk is 8/10 because it is fun to be outside
    2. My favorite part of morning walk is being outside and getting fresh air
    3. I think morning walk is good as it is, but if I have say 1 thing I want is more laps around the school
    4. The morning walk makes me feel great because it is great being outside and being with my friends
    5. The only benefit I notice is that I feel refresh after the morning walk
    6. I think that morning walk is a good way to take a brake from our academic schedule
    7. I have formed no new friendships or connections from the morning walk

  • 1. On a scale of 1-10, I’d say that I enjoy our morning walks when I get a chance to go on them. I like our morning walks because I like to breath the fresh air outside, instead of the warm air inside and I like to be with my own thoughts. So on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 10 out of 10.

    2. My favorite part of our morning walks is being surrounded by friends and chatting with them. As I’ve stated before. One of the reasons I enjoy our morning walks is because of the fresh air. I find it better than the warm air inside the classroom. And when your inside a classroom for hours you feel trapped sometimes. And I’ve been doing it since grade 4 because most teachers/staff do it.

    3. I mean I don’t feel like there is/are any changes needed. The 2 laps is perfect and is enough to relax our brains. I’ve seen/heard some fellow classmates suggest that we should do it twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I think that is kind of absurd because after the morning walk we get two more breaks. Lunch and recess. So I don’t think there is need for another break. Overall I think NOTHING needs to change. It’s perfect just the way it is.

    4. Going on the daily makes me feel free and happy in some shape of way that I can’t really explain. As a grade 7 this year, I assume there isn’t gonna be morning walks/daily walks in grade 8, so I better enjoy it while I can.

    5. I’ve noticed some benefits. Sometimes if I have a headache, we go on the morning walk and when we get back the headache is gone like poof. Another benefit for everyone is that the morning walk is like a light exercise. And it also gives our brain a break which is wonderful and better for learning. Overall, the morning walk has many benefits physically and mentally.

    6. Yes, our morning walk is wonderful for our academic schedule snice we work A LOT. Just like Ms. Smith has stated before, “we are busy bees” and for most it can help them learn better. It also helps a lot mentally and it can help physically.

    7. The morning walk has formed many relationships/friendships for me. More specially, it made me, Lance, Clive, and Bradley great friends this amazing year. I will forever remember them as some of my best friends.

  • 1) on a scale of 1-10 i would give it an honest 8.
    2) my favourite part of the morning walk is probably talking with friends
    3) there isn’t much i could add to the morning walk
    4) it’s very calming.
    5) i haven’t noticed many benifits.
    6) i do in fact think that the morning walk is a good break from academics
    7) i usually just stay with my group so i haven’t

  • Q1: I don’t really enjoy the walks because it’s boring so 2/10 and the only reason I put a 2 is because I walk with Isabella.
Q2: my favourite part is when we go inside. teehee.
Q3: I don’t know because I won’t be here next year but if it’s hypothetically then longer walks.
Q4: it makes me feel bored but I like it sorta because I can run if I want to. Yippie!
Q5: I don’t think so but it’s refreshing when the wind is blowing.
Q6: yes ma’am! I usually get headaches from work and walking away from works relieves my headaches.
Q7: no i usually just walk with Isabella or Andrew, Basti, Lucas, Warren, and Isabella because of D&D meaning dungeon and dragons.

  • 1. On a scale of one to ten, I would say a 7, is fun with friends. It is like an extra recess. You must walk, but you can talk to your friends and make new friends too!

    2. I could say that my fave part of the walk is that when we have gym, we only have to do one lap then go inside the gym. so, there is no running that much!

    3. I would like to see a better way for us to go inside, because we all just cram in, not waiting for the teacher to come. It’s not a bad problem, but it is getting annoying!

    4. Good. You get fresh air, and it does not make people mad, but that classroom stinks so much every sweltering day or chilly day, not even with windows open. It smells!

    5. My legs feel good walking sometimes, not all the time, sometimes it feels amazing but if I go to the cadet my legs sometimes hurt when I walk so it can feel good but not all the time.

6.yes yes! Of Couse it is amazing, no work Muh Hahahaha!

7.no but this school year I have made friends with: Luke, Andrew, Lucas, warren! As a new kid it is amazing how you make friends fast!

  • 1) On a scale of 1-10, I would say the morning would be 8 because it gives you time to talk to my friend, breathe some fresh, clean air and eat some food.

    2) My favorite part of the morning walk is that I get to talk to my friends and stretch my legs. I also like to have time to run around and release the energy inside of me during class time.

    3) One thing I would like to change about the morning walk is the number of laps we get to do. We only have time to do 2 laps or 1 if you are slow. I feel like we should do 3 or more laps. Another thing I want to change is the amount of time you get for the morning walk. It is usually based on how fast the teacher walks, which is about 3-5 minutes. It should be around 7-9 minutes instead, so we have a longer break. Also, I wish the morning walk would not be skipped so much due to the lack of time.

    4) The walk makes me feel calmer and less stressed because our class does a lot of work. It also makes me feel more relaxed and more patient with other classmates.

    5) Some benefits of going on the walk are that you get to breathe fresh air and stretch your legs after sitting on a chair for so long. Also, if you did not eat breakfast, you could have a snack during the walk. It also benefits your health. You can get exercise and breathe fresh air because it is stuffy in the classroom. It also gives students a break from each other. Sometimes, the stress riles up the class and it may start some arguments or fights, even.

    6) Going on a morning walk is good for our academic schedule. It allows us to take a break from class to stretch and move. It also gives us time to socialize with other classmates. I think every school at every grade level should have a walk as a part of their day.

    7) I have not formed any new friendships, but it gives me time to talk to other people I do not normally talk to or have not talked to for a while. I usually just spend time with people I normally talk to.

    • Nice to hear you want to do more laps.
      Allow me to clarify:
      – Morning walks are already 7 to 9 minutes and the teacher is often the last one, allowing plenty more time for students to do another lap if they’d like.
      – Morning Walks are very rarely missed.

  • On a scale of 1-10, how much do you enjoy our daily walks?

A: I love feeling the gust of wind blowing on me.

What is your favorite part of our daily walk?

A: It doesn’t have such a long distance when we’re walking around the school.

Is there anything you would like to see changed or added to our daily walk?

A: I would like for some students to take just one lap if they want to.

How does going on a daily walk make you feel?

A: It makes me feel comfortable.

Have you noticed any benefits from going on a daily walk?

A: Daily walks removes stress that’s left in our brains.

Do you feel like our daily walks are a good break from our academic schedule?

    Yes, I do.

Have you formed any new friendships or connections as a result of our daily walks?

A: No, because some people bother me, but not always.

  • 1. I like the free time with my friends.
