Work for Monday May 4th

  1. Watch Ms. Peters’ video for this week.
  2. Check out a video the Burnaby Music Teachers made for “Music Monday 2020” (also on the music page). Can you see Mr. Smith?
  3. Reading: watch Mother Bruce (on the story time with Ms. Peters page)
    1. Kindergarten: go to Tumblebooks and watch a few books, or have a family member read you a few stories, or read a book or two on Raz Kids. After listening to a story tell someone else about the setting of the story. The setting is where the story takes place (e.g. a forest, a school, a park, etc.) (Parents, you may need to remind your children what the setting is.
    2. Grade 1’s: read on Raz kids
  4. Math: find coins (toonie, loonie, quarter, dime, nickel and penny (optional)). Practice skip counting by 5’s and 10’s.
    1. Printable: complete another page or two from the document “skip counting pages” from Friday
    2. Non-worksheet version: draw some dots on a piece of paper (fewer than 20 for Kindergarten), have your child circle groups of 5, and count by 5’s, and then by 1’s to reach the number (e.g. if there are 12 dots, they will circle two groups of 5, and then count 5, 10, 11, 12) (See the 7th page in the skip counting pages document for an example of what this could look like). Do this several times.
  5. Writing: complete a writing page (Kindergarten) (Grade 1)

Optional:

  1. Play math games with your family
  2. Do Story Workshop, or create a story to go with one of Ms. Peters’ Story Workshop photos
  3. Complete a Beginning, Middle and End worksheet (Kindergarten) (Grade 1) for a story someone read to you, or Ms. Peters’ book from today.
