Work for Tuesday April 28th

  1. Watch Ms. Peters’ video for this week
  2. Math: Skip Counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s: Kindergarten: Have them orally skip count by 2’s and 5’s to 20, and by 10’s to 100 (They will need help, skip counting is a memorization skill). Grade 1’s: Have them orally skip count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100.
    1. Printable activity: complete another connect the dots from the Skip Counting Package on Teams
    2. Non-worksheet version: instead of the “worksheets” have them use 20 counters, have them put them into groups of 2, and have them point to each group and skip count, do the same with groups of 5.
  3. Reading:
    1. Grade 1’s: read on Raz Kids, make sure you first listen to the book, then read the book, and finally answer the questions. Please make sure you record several books this week (contact me if you’re not sure how).
    2. Kindergarten’s have someone read to you, or watch a book on Tumblebooks. Make sure you spend 15-20 minutes listening to reading. Some of you may also read on Raz Kids.
  4. Story Workshop (writing): look at Ms. Peters’ samples of simple stories you can make at home on the Story Workshop page (at the top of the homepage), use them as inspiration for making your own stories.
    1. Create a story with your toys or loose parts
    2. Draw your story, if possible have someone take a photo of your story
    3. Kindergarten’s add some writing to your picture, Grade 1’s write your story

Optional activity:

  1. Create your own skip counting connect the dots picture
  2. Create a story to go with one of Ms. Peters’ Story Workshop photos
  3. Complete a Beginning, Middle and End worksheet for a story someone read to you, or Ms. Peters’ book from today.
