reconciliation is like rebuilding a relationship like residential schools europeans are trying to rebuild a relationship with first nations. That is what i think about reconciliation
What does reconciliation mean to me? Reconciliation means to me the way the first nations where treated like how the government made Residential schools for them. Now the government and the people of Canada are trying to repay that mistake by showing much more appreciation to there land and culture, acknowliding them and thanking them for there land.
What reconciliation means to me is trying to fix the mistakes that we have made to the Indigenous peoples in the past, and to make up for it. It also means that we have to really make sure that we never make the mistakes that we have made before.
To me, reconciliation means to fix what the government has done in the past to the indigenous. Reconciliation is the process to increase a polite relationship with the indigenous. In the past, the government has done many harsh things to the indigenous as well as indigenous kids such as residential schools. The process of reconciliation will take a long time and by helping as kids we can learn about the indigenous past. We are also doing a project of heart which is one of the ways we can reconcile.
In my opinion, reconciliation means to honour and acknowledge the mistake that Canada made. The Canadian government wanted to assimilate the Indigenous. Reconciliation takes a long process of time. It doesn’t just take one day. To reconcile you can learn about the indigenous people and talk about the history of the Residential schools. This week we did a project of heart. We drew a picture on a wooden tile about how we can reconcile.
I think it means fixing and rebuilding a relationship.
