Social Media! I know, I know, you can’t live without it, right? But do we ever think about what happens with what we post about ourselves? Like if I, say, post those pictures of our Ninja gang: Fontay, Lyriam, Ro-Ro, Matthew, Darrel, Broodie, and Jesh, that Jessie and Jhanine swore was fake lol? Where do those pictures go? Could anyone see those pictures? What about our accounts and the information that we post on them?
These thoughts are all in response to a problem that just hit the news: Facebook got busted! And I mean, a bad bust, an $80 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS! So what happened, you ask? Well, a report revealed that a British company called Cambridge Analytica had taken the personal information of 50 MILLION Facebook profiles. (Just FYI: Canada’s population is roughly 36.3 million people). Why did they do it? Apparently the information was used to track voter behaviour for both the Brexit campaign (British exiting from the European Union) and the US presidential election (where your totally…umm… favourite president was elected to power!) Now, you might ask, well how did they steal all of this information? They were super sneaky! A professor by the name of Aleksandr Kogan who also has a company called, Global Science Research, built a personality app called “thisisyourdigitallife.” Before taking this quiz, Facebook users had to input personal information about themselves. Take a guess what he did with the information? His company sold the information to Cambridge Analytica. In total, there were 270,000 Facebook users who signed up for the personality test. But!! The app stole information of each user’s Facebook friends… who could not have provided consent for releasing their personal information. How did we find out? A Canadian who was the Director of Research at Cambridge Analytica by the name of Christopher Wylie. (He is called a whistleblower. A whistleblower is someone who exposes anything that is illegal or unethical).
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think that it is scary that these large corporations, have access to our personal information and can use it in any way that they see fit? Or, is it not that big of a deal? So what if our information is out there, that is the whole point of the internet! Also, please take a guess as to what you think our ‘digital footprint’ might mean and include it in your response. Why are your thoughts on this Facebook scandal? Will this issue cause you to be more cautious in the future when you are using apps or not really? Please write a detailed response of roughly 15-20 sentences!
This is why people encourage not posting your personal info. I can not see why people would believe you need to give out your address, name, and others just for a personality quiz. It is pretty scary to think random strangers sell your info to a company, and even SCARIER when you realise we could have never discovered this if a whistleblower has not come out. I do not know how they could access info from the friends if they had not given the info out. This is was incredibly sneaky, but anything that wants your info is probably not a good sign. Plus, why was Facebook completely aware of this fraud and did not do anything? I am already pretty careful of sites that want everything about me. Not that it happens a lot.
This whole Brexit campaign should be dealt with the people it effects. If there is anything to take away from this, it is to not post anything too personal. 50 MILLION people had stolen information. That is approximately 3/4 of France’s population! That is obviously a very big number. Stay cautious around personality quizzes. The internet is for everyone, so it is obviously going to be exploited by big names. There could be a scam right now, that nobody knows about. The founder of Facebook is most likely completely aware of this whole operation. I suppose he is trying to figure out his next move. Digital footprint might mean the trace we leave on the internet, or the effect. To the big companies, do not steal from the public. It is so obviously illegal. And to the public, stay aware, stay safe, and stay smart(if you are!) -Matthew.
i do think it is scary that these company’s can see whatever we do in our social life. we may some ”private” stuff that we may just want to keep to ourselves. like our own opinions on something. its just like your being betrayed by someone or something that you completely trusted. i think its a pretty big deal since Facebook is a pretty big thing. and that they would do this would shock a lot of people who use it. i think the word ” digital footprint” means that they can track down your social media. i think this because digital is all that iPhone and internet stuff. ( don’t know the depth of it. may be infinite.)
and foot print is what you leave behind. so then they track down your internet ”foot print” i think it makes sense for this subject. maybe not but roughly it will be like this. i hope. i think i’ll be a little more cautious about downloading apps in the future ( which is now) cause i like apps. and yeah.
I think that this is very scary if I had Facebook I would be very worried. I am glad I don’t have social media. I think that Social Media is getting too far these days. This is a really big deal and it is very scary. I would be so freaked out! My mom has Facebook but she didn’t take that weird quiz thank god. I think that your digital footprint means that it is your personal information on social media. So if I had my “digital footprint” taken then that would be very scary. Also I think that company is kind of stupid and I am very confused of what was going on. If people say “Oh it is not very scary because that is what Social media is for” then I will lose it! Also why couldn’t the C.O.O (Mark Zuckerberg) of Facebook address this earlier? Maybe he was keeping this for a long time. I am confused on how Mark Zuckerberg got even more money than before. I thought he totally was going to lose money. Why would anybody want to find out someone or should I say lots of people’s information. I don’t get it what are they going to use that information for. You have a better life to live without all that stupid information. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to other social Medias because that would be so bad. If this does happen don’t take any mysterious quizzes that ask you about your personal information. Thank you for reading my post!
I know about google chrome selling information to various sources but never heard of another company doing that. In my opinion it is a very big scandal but I don’t think it is really that much of Facebooks fault I mean Facebook didn’t sell the information. The biggest fault was of Cambridge Analytica because they don’t give anything for the law and they are taking other people’s privacy which is not to be meddled with. It is a good thing that that company is going bankrupt because any company like that could be dangerous. An example of somebody stealing information is criminals. They take your location so they can rob you. That is how serious this stealing information can be. Letting trump vote is bad enough but stealing information to tell trump who doesn’t vote for trump, which is terrible. It was good about Christopher to expose it because this scandal could continue indefinitely which would mean trouble humanity. I am surprised that the company wasn’t banned instantly. I really didn’t like the fact that Facebook lost eighty billion dollars because it really wasn’t their fault. It kind of was their fault but in my opinion they only needed to give an apology but all they gave was some lame stuff which was really wrong of Mark Zuckerberg to not say anything. That clearly showed that he was really paranoid, I have to admit that I would have been paranoid as well anyone would but he wouldn’t accept his mistake and that is the biggest mistake Mark made. But another company that cannot be forgotten is the Global Science Research. They transported all the information to the Cambridge company thing. They made this app that takes ALL your information. If you fell into this trap they BETRAYED you which I would be super mad if that happened to me. These people don’t even know that it is wrong. I have no clue why but they should have known because this is why their company went bankrupt. I really hoping that they can know what they did wrong because they shouldn’t make that mistake again. I hope that concludes all this to say who really is to blame and why it was wrong.
Now I think that this is very bad, this personal info because they could use it to do pretty much whatever they want with it. They could steal all your money or they could use your personal info to do bad stuff to your friends that can ruin your relationship. Now if I were Christopher Wylie (the whistle-blower) I would feel like I did the right thing. Now I don’t know about you but to me this looks like a pretty big deal for someone to steal your personal info and do anything they want with it. Now the digital footstep might mean that it is literally a digital footstep, so as in a very big digital discovery like the discovery that Cambridge Analytica is stealing personal info from Facebook users. Now that is pretty bad they could do pretty much anything they want go to your house and stuff like that. If I were going to take the test I wouldn’t because I don’t want my personal info to go to a person that I don’t know at all. I don’t even know why people even took this test because that is very stupid of them to let strangers know your personal info. Now Facebook getting busted is a good thing because Facebook has asked for some pretty personal info now that is pretty bad. Imagine random people coming to your house one day and that person would say that he knows your personal info, I don’t know about you but that would seem pretty creepy to me. I should probably go back on topic, OK so Cambridge Analytica has been following the US presidential election and they cheated to let Donald Trump win the election. I can’t believe that they have also been following how the British have left the EU. Now I would scream STALKER if that was what would happen to me. Now I wonder what they did with that info, sell it to Donald Trump? Another company? Well they would definitely get a lot of money if they sold all that info. It is good that they lost a lot of money and they are bankrupt because it would be really bad if Cambridge Analytica got away for what they did. Christopher Wylie did the right thing to tell the rest of the world that Cambridge Analytica was stealing other people’s personal info. Now if Christopher Wylie didn’t tell us this piece of info then Cambridge Analytica will still be stealing other people’s personal info.
This is not the only problem with Facebook, they are also a application that steals views from YouTube. How? Billions of people are sending and sharing YouTube videos to Facebook, so it means that YouTube are losing views and Facebook are having more views even though Facebook isn’t a video watching app! I wish that Facebook has been more honest with their own acts because hiding too may secrets will eventually all spill out like beans (Get it? Spill the beans.). I do know about stealing information because my mum and dad always tell me that don’t consistently put private information on a website that you don’t know or/and that is not secure to sign in from. I should be very careful in the future for websites and not fall in a big trap like this, and check for websites that has a lock on the top left and saying “secure”, or else this website might be dangerous or maybe a thief website to steal all your credit and life would be very dangerous to live in. I’m not going just let go and just let them steal my information, and that would be a thing that a moron would do, just letting them take your life. Maybe Facebook has even more secrets that they are hiding, or maybe they’re Illuminati confirmed? I don’t know, but I’m still shocked that this was related to the election for voting Trump. I would sue Facebook a million times if I had the choice to do that. I did not expect Facebook did this because many games are using Facebook
to play with friends. It also harms my friends and makes us framed because of this.
I have a lot of questions about the whole thing and why they even wanted to know personal things, now I feel creped out when I go home I’m going to check all my social media accounts. I hope this doesn’t happen ever again for any company because I know a lot of people who use Facebook like Eun Bin and my mom and my aunts and relatives and cousins, and friends and much more and the whole world. The company Cambridge Analytical did a horrible thing and deserves the hate but the one worker Wylie, even though he worked for them and did some bad things I have to give him just a little respect for exposing the company, because he new he would be in big trouble yet he still did it he felt the guilt and new it wasn’t right I still hate him but he showed courage and some kindness for peoples personal information. I kind of feel a little bad for Facebook, Mark Zuccerberg he thought he would be the happiest person just making money but then Cambridge Analytical came and stole information from Facebook, this proves Mark didn’t put to much effort in Facebook, but I still kind of fell bad for him because he’s a nice person but then someone had to steal information, and cost him an 80 billion fine. But at least I can get Mark Zuccerberg memes now but at least Mark Zuccerberg realizes life isn’t fair even though he lost 80 billion dollars he still probably has, a couple million in his bank account that’s still really good. Even though Cambridge Analytical did a stupid thing, I got to hand it to them it was kind of genius stealing fifty million identity’s without anyone knowing that just proves their skill, now I might sound bad now but if I was a evil person in the world I would recruit them. So now I want to Know more why they wanted to know all that information about people, now I’m scared if they saw someone really secret bad information but didn’t admit to it. Another thing I want to know is what if you had lots of friends on Facebook and one of them, was a millionaire and they showed how to get into their house, then Cambridge Analytical could rob them. What if you had a friend on Facebook who worked for a secret thing for the government then they saw some secret stuff. Now there’s something I don’t understand why would they want to know who you were voting for like you will find out eventually the will say who won, do you just want to know early and spoil it to everyone, it wont really matter that much because we would know anyways, or do they just want to know who voted for trump and so when they see the person they will ask the person why they voted for trump. I have a question why did they want to do this? and who started the whole thing? who is the founder? why didn’t they stop? why did they keep on find more identity’s? Do they fell sorry I do they don’t care? how come only Wylie felt guilty and confronted the company? those are some of my questions about the company Cambridge Analytical, those are all my reasons about this.
This was very shocking to me because they know literally everybody’s personal information in Canada. And this guy said it was because of Donald trump. Even if this was because of Donald trump the company shouldn’t have done it in the first place. This company is Canadian and they are doing this is not representing Canada well. I don’t think this right and what if you found out about this and someone knows your personal information. They should just ask on an app first not without permission! I don’t agree with this. What do other people think? I wonder if they still have our personal information how they did that. I actually blame Donald trump for this because I think he was trying to get this to happen. And it happened by a Canadian! My opinion on this is that this is UN acceptable and if I were him I would change everything back to normal and apologise I don’t want this to happen again because this is very scary. And as soon as I heard this I thought about my dad’s Facebook and there is pictures of me on them and some of them are embarrassing soooooooooooo yeah. thanks for reading my blog post.
Facebook is doing the wrong thing not to lie Facebook. Facebook shouldn’t be supporting Donald Trump to become the president of USA. But he is already so to bad. i Think that Cambridge Analytica the company is kinda help to avoid Donald Trump to Become the next president. They were also doing the right thing so i can’t really complain about that. I think what Cambridge Analytica did on the internet was a good thing and at the same time nobody like them. The person that made Cambridge Analytica was a whistle blower that he blew out the info which Facebook lost money. For me i don’t think it is a big deal about this because it is over but only about the Facebook cause they haven’t say any thing about it. But over all I think Cambridge Analytica isn’t that bad but no body want them cause they did that. It isn’t that scary about this thing cause i am not a baby. I OK with this thing cause i like it a little. Siek not really. I don’t know our digital footprint. Wait i think it might be Instagram Cause Facebook and Instagram is almost the same not to lie. Well i think that this is bad and ok so bye.
I don’t think this is really a bad thing. I would not be worried because all I do when I use games and they ask for my information I just lie and become 40. Also to try and prevent scamming I only use games made by EA, Gameloft and Fingersoft and many large gaming companies. Those I know are very safe and I do not play anything else (please note that I play a lot of racing games and those companies are often very good at those things. So Paanini and Daniel don’t call me a car nerd. Plz). I don’t think that Facebook will be interested in knowing about my life because all I will tell you is fake stuff. Except that I like cars a LOT. If they did make a digital footprint of me it would be a collage of exotic cars that makes my dream car (a Toyota rocket bunny edition with extended exhaust pipes), and its most important use would be for looking at names of cars (I know a lot). I don’t think Facebook should have done this because many people will not like it at all but some people like me will not mind at all. If Facebook steals my information I don’t care. I am already pretty cautions if I don’t recognize the company (I also only play games that are large downloads. Has to be around I GB) and I always reject any notifications that ask you to access photos videos etc. if it is a small company. Another way I use to be more careful is to see how good the graphics are. In all of the games I play the graphics are quite good. Another way to check this is to see how many people play this game, if there is a lot of people playing this game(over a million people is bad. So about 30 million is good) it is also good to have lots of reviews and surprisingly lots of bad reviews. There are lots of haters out there and to get lots of people being motivated to do and hate it it will probably be very safe. Unless the people who made that company are trying to get your info. In that case you are screwed, so just hope you are lucky.
First of all, it is already an insane idea to make such website to use people. Second of all, people are kind of stupid to give all the information to some random person that they don’t even know. Now about this app in face book, just thinking of there is people who are using this app to steel information and then cheat or do something with it, you just think it is so wrong. If you want to know something, then just learn it in a proper way. You don’t have to steal it from people around the world and the use it to do whatever is good for yourself. And when you see this kind of app, why would you even go and use it. If there is a person or a group trying to take information from your mouth, and then just do whatever they want. Never use it. Of corce, if you didn’t know that, then if you see an app that wants all of your information and even your friend’s. Why would you even go and tell them. Your friends won’t even know what the hack are you doing. Those apps even sold those information to trump and some of those people so they can kind of cheat or something. And Guess What? The ones who used the app did this to their selves. Now that they know people knew about that, they shut downed the app with shame. But if you know it is not the right thing to do something, then don’t do it. Now that people like trump already succeed, there is no use of being ashamed of yourself. Just next time, don’t be so stupid.
I think its kind of worrisome because you wont feel safe knowing that someone else knows your
personal information. I don’t even think these companies should not even see other people personal information. if this type of stuff is illegal, why do companies do this anyways? I think digital footprint means your d.n.a. my thoughts on this face book scandals is that i think these companies should be shut down so that people might feel a little safe sharing there personal information.
I think that it is scary that these large corporations have access to our personal information and can use it in anyway they want. It is a very big deal, because they used our personal information and rigged the Brexit campaign, which is Great Britain exiting the European Union, and the 2017 U.S. presidential campaign, in which Donald Trump was elected to power and elected president of the United States of America. My response on Ms. Panesar’s ‘digital footprint’ is that it might mean the personality app “thisisyourdigitallife” that Cambridge Analytica used for the Facebook scam. My thoughts on this Facebook scandal is this issue will cause me to be more cautious in the future when I am using apps, because I do not want to give away my own personal information on the entire internet and social media. Technically, Cambridge Analytica does not care about the law, and 270,000 Facebook users signed up for personality test. But the app also stole information from each user’s Facebook friends who could not have provided consent for releasing their personal information. In conclusion, Cambridge Analytica should be sued for this scam on Facebook.
I am happy that this guy told everyone what this company was doing but I am pretty sure that he will be sued for exposing this company. Because I am pretty sure he had a contract and he broke it. But now this information probably helped Donald Trump win the elections so he technically cheated in the election. I feel bad for Hillary Clinton she could have won but that potato head cheated. The way he won was that personality app thing sold Donald the information of who does not want to vote for him. So he would go to the places where people do not want to vote for him and be nice to them like giving them money. And then some people would actually like Donald Trump I know stupid right? I can imagen someone putting their information in this app and then there friends being so upset about what this company did. And that guy I think he is the creator of Facebook or something new what was happing and he did not tell anyone. But in the end he came up with the most stupid apology but at least he apologised. Still what this company did was unforgivable and I am happy that they are bankrupt right now. Because everybody now knows what this company did because that guy told everyone. There are probably no people even working on this ridicules app. I wonder who even started it all.
By Lily Lillian and Polly. I think what this Chris Wylie did was good I mean the part that he told everybody what the company was actually doing but he was in that company to! Hmmm. Why did that company do that??????? So basically these people made this app and then they were like you want a personality quiz? And then they agreed. But they told them to tell all the information like when is your birthday and all those things. If I signed up I would… like first of all I wouldn’t sign up because I would be stupid. I would be actually kind of like what the hell? But it is a minimum deal. Not a big deal or small deal. I think digital foot print means like your finger print is your identity and is on the internet. So digital footprint. Why isn’t it a digital finger print? I probably will say no when apps ask for personal info because what if it is attack #2. I’m just glad I don’t have Facebook. *sigh* I kind of feel bad for the people that signed up because the other half of me thinks that they are stupid. I think if they go to our school they would know that they shouldn’t tell anybody there personal information. I’m glad that they got fined yay! 80 billion dollars was it? Yessssssss. I think that they should have another election in America because they cheated a lot. Yes yes yes yes yes. Bye!
I gotta admit: it’s pretty impressive that they managed to pirate the accounts. To be honest, if I had Facebook, I wouldn’t have given the app my info, because if I did, my parents woulds scold me a lot. This incident reminds me when a spammer took our Bank info, so we had to shut our account down. So Cambridge Analytica tried to help Trump win the freaking election by stealing the Facebook accounts, but the head of the Cambridge Analytica said that it was “unintended” and that it will not happen again. I think that it is scary how these companies can just take the information when they want to. It’s just scary how much there are a number of companies that could send you something that will abduct the information. Another reason that it’s scary is that there are sites that you cannot trust and that you can trust. There are also sites that are disguised as trustable ones. I think that Digital footprint means a trail of data that a user makes when using the internet. I just googled it and found out that passive digital footprint is when your phone’s internet activity gets tracked unintentionally. To be honest I don’t just give my info unless it is a site or app I trust. I’m glad Christopher Wylie had brought up this issue against this group. The fact that Trump won in a way that included this method makes me suspect that he did more things to win the election of 2017. I am also glad that these FRAUDS got fined. The Cambrige Analytica said that they used the data to overlook the election of 2017. They said that they don’t use DIRTY tricks to gain data. Well instead they should’ve told the people the truth why they’re asking the info. Well, bad Karma or not, they are officially SHUTTING DOWN. Thx for reading SIKE not the end! But I think that it is not fair how Facebook got fined because of this incident. It isn’t Facebook’s fault that Cambridge stole the info from it’s users. There are loads of smaller incidents that are similar to this. I don’t know why, but I would feel bad for him if it wasn’t his decision to pirate the Facebook accounts. Thx for reading end
I think that it is not good if someone knows all of your personal information without your permission and without you knowing. They could even steal your identity since they probably know your address, your name, your birthday, and probably some other information that you probably wouldn’t want random people knowing. I think that what the did is wrong, for whatever purposes that you have for using this information about 50 million people in the world. That’s more than all the people who live in Canada. And that’s 36.3 million people. I think that this is kinda the point of social media, but you still shouldn’t know all these things about anyone if you don’t have their permission and if you don’t know them. I think even though their not using it for anything threatening or something like that, it’s still doesn’t make it right to go and find out all these people’s private information. They claim that they were just using it for getting votes on the election, but that’s not fair to the other competition because you know who they want to vote for but you try and bribe them to vote for you instead. (I am talking about the beloved and cared for Trump). There were actually 270,000 people that signed up,and i feel bad for them because these people only thought they were signing up for a personality test about their digital life. The people who got the information actually sold the information to a company by the name of “Cambridge Analytica” and, as i said before, used it to figure out who was voting for the Brexit campaign and the election of Donald Annoying Trump. If Donald Trump found out that a state had the majority of the people voting against him, then he would give them more resources and put more money into the state so they would vote for him. I think that this is actually very scary, because what if one day, you picked up the phone, and this random person told you that they work for a very large company, and they said they knew everything about you? They know your name, they know where you live, they know your birthday, and they know a lot more than just that. Would YOU be freaked out? Or would you think that it’s so cool that someone actually knows about you other than your mom and your grandma? Or would you feel something else? Like happy, or scared, or sad, (I don’t know why you would be sad, but i just included it anyways). I am gonna guess that a digital footprint is like leaving a footprint in snow. If you go on a website or something, then it leaves a footprint and then it’s like you “stepped into a website” or something like that. (I actually learned about this in, like grade two or something like that. But i don’t really remember it anyways. So i guessed something today! Yay! OK, anyways, hope you enjoyed this and didn’t just scroll down to look at a different comment that’s shorter. Bye! 🙂
Sometimes I don’t know why apps ask me if they can see my contacts, pictures or make and manage phone calls because they are just games and they don’t need to know that stuff so I always put deny but I never knew that just by saying yes to that one big company could see all my life and personal things. But I already knew that companies could steal information but not all the information. I also know that when people turn on their phones or a laptop that has a camera and they are on a call or just playing with it when people allow random apps if they can access their contacts picture and phone call it also can see through the camera so when someone is using it they can see the person on their phone or computer playing games or reading news.( that is why I put a sticker on the camera of my laptop so no one can see me 😉 🙂 ) even though I just saw these news I was still very careful with my privacy because I always say deny and if it says I can’t use the game or app if I don’t say accept then I delete the app. but I wouldn’t be surprised if a company could see all your information just by downloading an app and they needed permission form you just to see your contacts, pictures and calls and the rest they can just do it. I am also surprised that by just saying you like something they almost find out everything about you! I don’t think it is safe to let companies see all your private information because they could learn where you live or find out everything about you! That shouldn’t be done they shouldn’t be taking people’s information and private things just to find things out because it is none of their business! >:( isn’t that stealing information without you knowing? Facebook shouldn’t have even aloud that guy to see the private information or sell it. When it asks you for permission to look at your contacts or pictures or even control your camera and make calls it even asks you if it can know your location sometimes! That is scary because they could come to your house!! don’t press accept press deny to keep your private info private.I think a digital footprint is all your information and personal information online. That is the end of my blog post byeeeee 😃😆😝
I really think that it is something to worry about when the enormous corporations have all of the access to our personal and private information. No matter how little people post, Cambridge Analytica can know all of our information. All of this information is discovered by Christopher Wylie, who is a whistleblower. When I heard that they can know everything just by using a piece of unreliable info like Hello Kitty can show their political views, that made me think everyone should delete their Facebook account. I believe that there is such thing as privacy to everyone and it is right to get Facebook sued! Yeah screw you Facebook! You deserved it Mark Zuckerberg! You didn’t even apologize yet! And even worse, all of the personal info is literally supporting Donald Trump, who BTW is a really mean president. All of the private info helps Trump become president. I really think that all of this is created JUST BY SUPPORTING A USELESS PRESIDENT THAT IS HARMING THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! I think all of this nonsense is not only hacking people’s accounts, but making a stupid president get elected for a US leader. Donald Trump even looks directly at the sun when he CLEARLY KNOWS that it will harm his own eyes! I am so not kidding!
I am really grateful that Christopher Wylie told us all of the secrets of Cambridge Analytica and Facebook so we can be safe online, even though some of our private information is taken. I really think that Facebook deserved to lose a billion dollars because Facebook literally supported a stupid president (Some of you guys might support Trump, but I do not)! I still believe that this is a serious matter when enormous corporations know our private info and use it any way they see fit, because imagine some random people knowing your private information when you don’t want to see it, so that is why I think that it is really. bad when people know your info and we should really sue Trump and Facebook. BYE BYE I AM DONE.
i do think it is scary that these company’s can see whatever we do in our social life. we may some ”private” (not noting weird things)stuff that we may just want to keep to ourselves. like our own opinions on something. its just like your being betrayed by someone or something that you completely trusted. and then all of a sudden they tell someone about your secrets. i think this is a big deal since Facebook is a pretty big thing. and that they would do this would shock a lot of people who use it (i don’t use it so it wont shock me). i think the word ” digital footprint” means that they can track down your social media. i think this because digital is all that iPhone and internet stuff. ( don’t know the depth of it. may be infinite.)
and foot print is what you leave behind. so then they track down your internet ”foot print” i think it makes sense for this subject. maybe not but roughly it will be like this. i hope. i think i’ll be a little more cautious about downloading apps in the future ( which is now) cause i like apps. there cool because they keep me interested. not bored. so yeah. this is the end to my blog post .
I think that what they did was very wrong! NOT only did they steal people’s personal info but they also used it so that Trump would win! and yes I just said Trump!!!!!! AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Also I don’t really think that you would want your personal info to be exposed to random weirdos…. or do you? You know, I would usually feel really bad for people that lost their money but in this case all i feel is happiness that they lost 80 billion dollars! I also really think that they deserved it and they’re probably going to have to shut down their company….eventually! Who ever made this app and was stupid enough to give away people’s personal info should be punished FOREVER!! ( NO OFFENSE IF THAT PERSON IS READING THIS BUT IF YOU ARE READING THIS……… I DON”T LIKE YOU AND I PROBABLY NEVER WILL!!) and since they took away our personal info they could probably take our money from the bank ( Oh my gosh Annie more money suckers! ahhh!). We should probably ask our family and friend members if they have used the app because how if one of them used it so then now those weirdos now have our personal info.Which is super creepy.Another reason why I think this is wrong is because since they have our personal info they could probably find out where we live!! And they would probably stalk us til our last day here in Earth yay!….NOT! I totally think that I would be a lot more cautious with giving out too much information online!…….A digital footprint can be our footprint but then it is digital ( I might be very wrong though ) Hey!, If you are a weirdo who gives out other people’s personal info…..THEN STOP……..GET SOME HELP!!!!! OKAY BYEEE!!!
Hi! This is the second part of my blog post/response. So I was saying not too much information in my last response, but now I’ll come back to it. So can’t the government do something about Cambridge Analytica? Well maybe not because of their Whistleblower. If you don’t mind Ms. Panesar, I’ll just skip to the questions.
“Do you think that it is scary that these large corporations, have access to our personal information and can use it in any way that they see fit?” It definitely is, kind of like hackers going through our personal information. But now it’s a whole company.
“Also, please take a guess as to what you think our ‘digital footprint’ might mean.” So I think since it has the word, our, it could mean leaving our personal information just somewhere on the internet. (Just like leaving a footprint)
“Why are your thoughts on this Facebook scandal?” Because you know, going through other people’s personal information is wrong period
“Will this issue cause you to be more cautious in the future when you are using apps, or not really?” Yeah, because you never know what could happen when you download an app that sounds too good to be true.
So yeah, my thoughts on this response are pretty much Cambridge Analytica is bad, but I did put some other information to this. And I also answered the questions that were asked. I hope you liked this response! 🙂
I think its kind of worrisome because you wont feel safe knowing that someone else knows your personal information. I don’t even think these companies should not even see other people personal information. if this type of stuff is illegal, why do companies do this anyways? I think digital footprint means your d.n.a. my thoughts on this face book scandals is that i think these companies should be shut down so that people might feel a little safe sharing there personal information.
First of all my opinions about this whole thing I think that what these people did to take peoples information is not good because what if they ask you your passcode for your computer or your username and then if you put your info on then the people that got your information will either hack your computer or post it so that every one can see all of you information and also if they ask you for an example what is you deepest and darkest secret (of course it won’t say that I’m just using that as an example) and what if you say I pee my pants in the night or if I get really scared of something then I poop my pants and like I said this is all examples. Then what if they see that then they posted it online and if you do and one of your class mates see it they are probably going to spread rumours of it or if they go to far they might even start to bully you. Also if it say like put your birth date and your age then i would put fake information like born on August 15 1978 and age 38 and also I think that a lot of people should really start to do the same thing I do because you don’t know what people do with all that information that you gave them what if they like send it to a rampndom stranger and what if that stranger knows how to hack then anything can happen and I can’t tell you any examples because my examples are really weird ms.panesar is probably saying in her mind to please stop the examples so that’s why I’m going to stop.😭 and also some of my thoughts about the Facebook scandal is that it is not okay for Facebook to do that because a lot of people use Facebook and I’m pretty sure every body’s parents use it to like my mom and also my dad and I know my parents they for sure probably put their legit info knowing them my whole life.and plus a lot of of people use Facebook like I said some smart people I know for sure would not put their personal info only dumb ones besides my parents.😁 and yes this will be more cautious to us if people really new not to put their real info like I know I’m not the smartest in the whole world (ms panesar is probably thinking that your not smart at all) but at least I don’t make such bad choices and I think that people who are actually smart should post something saying that “putting your real real information is dangerous start to put fake information because people steal you identity and use it” words from the smart people. And yeah sometimes it can be really scary that really huge company’s have all your information like for an example YouTube and of course you do need information but not personal information and all it asks for is just your email and also your password and then face ok I have no idea because I’m not old enough and also my parents would kill me if they and I’m pretty sure that it asks for your birth date age and other things but I wouldn’t know anything about that anyway because I don’t have it well I do but it’s my sisters so yeah. And another thing is that why did Cambridge analytics made the app for like what is in the app that is interesting about it is there like a really cool game or a new thing that you want to buy and if you want to go there just for that reason then you not good bro. And also it’s actually pretty creepy why would you want to have someone’s information that’s the thing I don’t get do you want there information just for the fun of it or to just be cool and if you think that cool than there is actually something wrong with you or is it because of the fact that your a loner and you don’t have friends and you wanted to get busted so people see you on the tv. And what and what I think digital foot print means is that they want to have your finger if so that they can get in to your personal files. So yeah those were some of my thoughts about this thing and yeah thanks for reading see ya.
I think this is really foolish, idiotic, and selfish. I think this is selfish because you can’t just take someone else’s information and selling it just for money or using that information to help yourself. I think this is idiotic because if you weren’t stupid you would know that sooner or later someone’s going to find out. I think this is foolish because a child wouldn’t even do that this is just so unacceptable. I also think that it’s not fair that Facebook has to pay $80 billion dollars because if they weren’t such a big company they probably wouldn’t have to pay so much. Though (Ms. Panesar) did day that Mark Zuckerberg was told of this but I think he just didn’t know how to address it because people would probably still give him shade. This is like stabbing people behind the back, these people trusted this app they thought this was just an experiment but instead they just got tricked. I am just glad that Christopher Wylie told us about. I mean if this went on worse things could happen this information could be passed down from company to company and it could honestly destroy friendships and family’s. What also find that is unfair is that Trump is not getting much shame. He used that information to win more votes! Honestly without that information might not have actually won. So I declare a re-election! So my question is how come Christopher Wylie felt guilty he could have used that information to gain money? But I do understand that you have a gut feeling that you’re doing something wrong and then you feel guilty. My other question is that why is trump not dealing with this I mean he still is president he can’t hide forever? This information was also used when people were voting either England stays in EU or not. But at least they are having voting again. I still think the first person to blame is the creator of the app. He/She started this they destroyed lives. This is like stalker except a whole company is stalking you instead which is terrifying. I think we all learned a lesson do not share your personal information on social media or any one that you don’t know. This is just the beginning it’s going to get worse so stay safe. There really is no solution to this, all you can do is keep your information from the internet.
okay okay sooooooooooooooo!!! here i am my great self back from time! yayyyyyy!!!!(crowd cheers Boooooo!!!!) (sigh…)
so anyway im back with my new topic it`s called “Digital footprint” sounds exciting but on the other hand it`s the worst. As you see Facebook is one of them and sadly i have Facebook so im not happy to hear that. No actually im serious i mean brahhh. so! Im not sure my teacher said this but, we have those cameras in our PC`s (some do or some don`t). those who hack into our computers can see our private or personal live in there anything you do even if you turn of your computer (i think). the reason of that is because they want something from us or whatever they want. and since i have face book i might be in one of them which is bull-crap (I seriously take this seriously I legit am freaking busted because that happened). (All around me are familiar faces…) AND they ARE FAMILIAR FACES!!! i mean the reason W-H-Y some company i see always`s gets (B-U-S-T-E-D)! (Desperately Breathes). anyway stupid CAMBRIDGE doesn`t care about this suspicious activity (alarm rings in the background). (bweep bweep bweep!) who knows why they dont give a crap about laws, maybe tey are trying to get busted two times? what will happen? (choose or dare!) or was it truth or dare? bahh i dont care. so if i bring it to a conclusion this means just dont show any stupid stuff or private tings on the internet i mean really. If you do that it means= do it at your own risk. so BEACREFUL OUT THERE in this small world! (audience throws random stuff at me roaring Booo!
so that`s it! P.S(Ms.Panesar might grill me with this post.) will it be????
Enter:Truth or Dare??
I think it’s insane because selling someone else’s info is just plain crazy. But it gets worst. It also takes your friends info too. P.S. digital footprint is a tracker. And who knows what Cambridge Analytica could do with you and your friends info. They could sell it to someone else. Internet is a bad place and we should keep our personnel information to our selves and 270,000 Facebookers even more. It’s not nice how the world is today. Why did he even do this in the first place? Because he wanted the money. People want money. Why should we even give our information to strangers. Look around us, some people are doing idiotic things on the internet. But at the same time the internet can be a good place too. The moral of the story: don’t use Facebook. It’s a bad place.
Yup I cant live with out social media and violating terms K
