Okay so this is something that I have always been firm believer on – but it appears as though I might not be in the majority. So I’m turning it to you – what do you think?!
So this is how I was reminded. Well, I was reminded twice. Once while speaking with my parents. The other time was when I was out with a friend and we dropped into Winners – the shop that Ms. Pucci and Ms. Delorme love, as well as me of course! Back to the story – so I was browsing around and what do I see? Christmas decor! You name it – wreathes, nutcrackers, snow globes, etc. Shoppers were definitely purchasing Christmas items but I was slightly upset thinking that we should pay tribute to Remembrance Day first, and then start Christmas shopping.

When it comes to Remembrance Day, it needs to be recognized more. It was Halloween, and I saw no Halloween decorations on sale and only Christmas decorations. One, my family was looking for more Halloween decorations and found none. Two, I was annoyed that Christmas was here before Remembrance Day. It was Halloween! Christmas was two months away. Christmas celebrations should wait until at least after Remembrance Day. It is unfair to those who served us. We should have respect for them and recognize them. It is fine to decorate for Christmas if you still respect and recognize the fallen soldiers. Yet, those stores putting Christmas decorations up for sale should know better. It takes a team effort to recognize Remembrance Day. If stores are putting up Christmas decorations, shoppers will feel the need to buy decorations. The shoppers as well need to do their part. Not only can buying decorations encourage stores to put them up, but you can also reuse those from last year. This year I felt as if everyone forgot Remembrance Day, there were no stores even selling poppies or putting up donation cans. Compared to other years, this was the worst. Instead of waiting after Remembrance Day, malls already put up all the Christmas decorations. Setting up for Christmas should be after Remembrance Day.
There doesn’t need to be a set date for when you sell Christmas decorations. Like a child who doesn’t want to go to sleep and needs a bedtime at 10 pm. Yes, many people will be unhappy there are no Christmas decorations for sale. Yet, retailers can improvise, such as making the decorations a small aisle only and asking for donations that are for veterans. If those stores cannot do anything, then the date would be after Remembrance Day, November 12th and more.
There needs to be an understanding of the fact that it is Remembrance Day. You have a long time till Christmas, retail stores say that they just want to keep up with everyone but what about respect? It is Remembrance Day, not Christmas Day. The least you can do is put them up right after Remembrance Day. That is the bare minimum for these stores. For an extending, that would be putting up donations and selling poppies for veterans. We have celebrated Remembrance Day forever, in 2018 it was the 100th year since World War l. It is only 3 more years after, and we seem to already have forgotten this existed. It is history, if you are to live in Canada, you should learn to respect history. My mom said lots of people unknown about the history of Canada moved here. As refugees or immigrants, it is not a nature to them they are used to. As people who have taken part in Remembrance Day before, we can teach others about it. It’s our part to remember on Remembrance Day.
1. I think that having Christmas decorations put up before Remembrance Day or even before November is not necessary. Remembrance Day is there for us to remember the sacrifices soldiers, veterans made for us to be here. Having other things around during the time is a distraction and doesn’t show the veterans the respect they deserve. Also has the shop, shores not considered the fact that without those soldiers they wouldn’t even get to sale those Christmas decorations. Plus haven’t they thought of what the veterans that are here today would think? Some say there’s time for both, but if your busy decorating your house with Christmas decorations are you going to actually take the time to think of Remembrance Day? And to those who don’t care, maybe you should start caring, because guess who made the country peaceful enough to start selling Christmas decorations. Yeah, the veterans did. Oh and wouldn’t you get more customers if they see that you have simple respect? And wouldn’t people want to buy Remembrance Day things too?
2. Yes there should be a date. I think December 1 would be an okay day. Enough time for you to get your stuff to sell and enough time to decorate your house. If we start putting out decorations on the 12 of November it just kind of shows that we want to get over with the day and that’s it. Also if all the shops start bring things out on the the same day or after a specific time, then no shop would feel pressured. Also if thee start early it’ll make the shop look bad.

Sure the raised and lowered the flag for the veterans and wear poppies, but have they said about the matter of having Christmas decorations out before Remembrance Day? They didn’t set a specific date that the decorations can come out and i don’t see much on the news about what they say about their thoughts on the day after Remembrance Day .one member in Alberta even said that he is okay if it and that on top of the Christmas decorations, he will buy his poppy. Stores should wait until after Remembrance Day to begin selling Christmas decorations. Although the Christmas season is very profitable, it’s not a good idea to start sales early for a variety of reasons. The main one is that it’s disrespectful to soldiers and people who fought for our peace. We should not celebrate before we honour those who fought for a better future for us. First, we must pay our respects, even though some veterans do not mind if Christmas starts to be celebrated early. It seems inappropriate to me to feel sad for people who lost their lives in the war and to feel excited about an upcoming celebration at the same time.
Stores that begin selling Christmas items too early put people under pressure to start their Christmas shopping earlier than necessary. Not all families earn enough money to buy that many products and it may cause stress, mainly if they have kids at home (not all families are like these, but I’ve seen many that are). Sometimes people think decorating and receiving gifts is more important than the true meaning of Christmas: harmony, joy, peace, and love. The same idea applies to the true meaning of Remembrance Day: remembering, gratitude, and respect. I did some research, and I found out that there’s a specific date to set up your Christmas tree – the fourth Sunday before Christmas day, which is the beginning of Advent. So, people should wait for it and stores should not be in a rush. I’ve seen many stores that start putting Christmas items for sale, even before Halloween sales finish.
Many people that live in Canada don’t have Christmas as a special date because they follow other religions, but many soldiers that fought for Canada in the wars were/are immigrants, so for that reason, Remembrance Day should have more importance than Christmas. It’s part of Canada’s history.
I think that there should be a fixed date to start putting Christmas items for sale, for big businesses and small ones. This way, small businesses would not be harmed by competition with bigger stores that start selling Christmas items early. In one of the articles I read, the businessman said that he also competes with online stores. I don’t think that makes sense because you can shop online all year long, no matter what the holiday. If a fixed date existed, holidays wouldn’t overlap, giving Remembrance Day enough time to be honoured.
In my opinion, Remembrance Day should be properly respected because otherwise, future generations may forget about it, which is not what should happen. The people who fought for us should never be forgotten.
Personally, my answer will always be nay. Yes, Christmas is a fun holiday, but Remembrance day isn’t about joy and giving and whatnot, it’s about taking the time to honour and think of those who had to fight in the war to bring peace to our land, and without them, we wouldn’t even be here right about now. All Christmas celebrations should have to wait until after Remembrance Day, it doesn’t have to be a whole month but it should at least be like a week because it is just disrespectful to start putting up Christmas decor when we should be wearing our poppies and taking some time to think and thank all the traumatized veterans, and the soldiers who are sadly no longer with us. This is a very serious topic and whatever I say here probably can’t bring justice to how disrespectful it is to be putting up Christmas decorations, and stocking the shops with Christmas-themed treats and toys in a time where we should all be giving our respect to those lost on the battlefield. This is something that matters a lot to people, and yes I understand that shops stock their storage with Christmas goodies because they need to get a head start so they can make the profit the most out of it but what about having some respect? I mean during Halloween at most some stores will put up a few decorations, but for Remembrance day they can’t be bothered to put up some poppies and crosses? Although some say that they both think of the veterans and soldiers and celebrate Christmas at the same time, you really aren’t thinking of the soldiers and respecting them if you’re putting up a Christmas tree and setting up lights. Some also say that the whole reason that soldiers fought for us was so we could do fun things and celebrate things like Christmas, but that’s not the point of Remembrance today. It is a day to remember and reflect and there is no reason that Christmas should ever come before Remembrance Day because it is disrespectful to be joyous and cheerful n a day in which we mourn. Should there be a fixed date on which retailer should start putting out Christmas decor? Yes, absolutely, that way people will have a reasonable time in which they are allowed to sell their Christmas decor and when we should all still be mourning, and reflecting on the past. Right now retailers are selling their Christmas decorations and completely skipping through Remembrance decor, as in hanging up crosses. poppies, and signs reading “Lest We Forget.” This is quite disrespectful but with a fixed date, people will no longer be offended when they see poppies and crosses, instead of snowmen and snowflakes. This I think will ultimately solve the problem of retailers having to worry about losing profits/customers because if they all start decorating and selling Christmas-themed items after Remembrance day, people won’t be offended and it will be fair game against other shopkeepers.
Some last things I would like to mention are that I do not fully blame shopkeepers for decorating during Remembrance day but I just think that it would be a lot more respectful if they hung up poppies and crosses.
Honestly, most of these actions are completely unbelievable.
If your celebrating Christmas before Remembrance Day isn’t it disrespectful? Think about it, Christmas is about celebrating the day when Jesus was born. Remembrance Day is about celebrating the ones that served in the front line of duty, that’s two different things so why are we celebrating one before the other? Yes, both holidays are about remembering but Remembrance Day is about the people who have served our country, Canada, to protect us, keep us safe and turn Canada into how it is now. Christmas is about Jesus and how he was born not anything else. Some stores are putting up Christmas stuff, right after Halloween which doesn’t make sense because Christmas is 2 months away so why start now? but just remember this is my opinion.

Absolutely yes there should be so then there’s an appropriate time for the decor to go up and not in the middle of Remembrance Day or the second Halloween ends but to have it up for a day or even a few days would be good because we can remember the ones who sacrificed their lives to us. I find it so disrespectful how early shops are putting up Christmas decor, no one has hung up any signs like “less we forget” or maybe something like “take the time to remember the ones that saved our lives”, selling poppies can be another one as well and the last one would be a poppy reef.

I think that Remembrance Day should be celebrated first. Because then if we don’t, it’s disrespectful to the people in the war that sacrificed their lives. And made the world at peace after the war. Then after we celebrate Remembrance Day then we can celebrate Christmas. What I mean is that there shouldn’t be Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day. I think it makes more since to do that first, that is how I feel, and I think that this is how it should be. 75 million people died in World War 2 and that’s a lot of people that died and we should respect the people that gave their lives. Also, in World War 1, 40 million people died. And we can’t just skip Remembrance Day and start celebrating Christmas. I think that we always have to celebrate Remembrance Day first before Christmas no matter what other people think about it. World War 1 lasted for 4 years until the allies won World War 1. World War 2 lasted for 6 years and started 1939 September 1, until the Soviets won World War 2. Also, the decorations in stores. Some stores have Christmas decorations in their stores too early. That’s how I feel. What I mean is that some stores have decorations even before celebrating Remembrance Day. And that shouldn’t be happening.
I think that there should be a fixed date. I think November the 30th should be able to start putting decorations in the stores. And November the 30th can also be starting to decorate their house. I think starting to decorate their store and house before November 30th is too early. The earliest day you can Start doing Christmas stuff is November the 28th. Well, that is how I feel about it.
Christmas is one of the most important holidays of the year, I know most people celebrate Christmas just a few days or weeks before Christmas eve, but there are people who do celebrate it early. Isn’t it disrespectful? Think about it, Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus. It’s a happy holiday where there will be parades on the streets. There will be fireworks and Christmas lights/decorations everywhere at night and it’s spectacular. But Remembrance Day is the day when we honor the soldiers who have risked their lives protecting us in WW1 and WW2. At the end of WW1, the results were 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians. At the end of WW2, the results were 75 million people (about twice the population of California) who have died for us in World War II, including about 20 million military personnel and 40 million civilians. The total deaths for both the world wars added up altogether results in more than 100 MILLION deaths! Can you believe that? It is absolutely heart breaking. What would you feel about them dying for us? Grateful and sad right? If there weren’t soldiers who have died for us in battle would we still be here celebrating Christmas? Absolutely not. I am not a veteran or soldier, but in my opinion, this is just very disrespectful to the souls of fallen heroes. My grandparents’ parents were part of the army, they were fighting in battle, benefited A LOT in battle, and at the end, they were remembered and treated with extreme respect. I Want people to think extremely hard about if they are going to put on Christmas decorations or run commercials before Remembrance Day because there are a lot of people that may be upset by that. I am also extremely disappointed with the people who celebrate Christmas before Remembrance Day, such a disgrace to the soldiers. I do not want to take it too seriously, if I did then there would be a little bit of argument about it, but it just isn’t the best idea and I recommend celebrating it AFTER Remembrance Day.
This year, Christmas will be celebrated on December 25, on a Saturday. You can celebrate it on the exact date, or you can celebrate it a little bit early, like a week before Christmas. But the earliest you can celebrate is the last few days of November. I Celebrate December 24, Christmas Eve, which is another option, and the best option because it isn’t early, not too late, just the right time. Whatever your decision on when to celebrate Christmas, just please, do not celebrate it on Remembrance Day because it is just too disrespectful to the veterans.

I think that buying Christmas decorations before/on Remembrance Day isn’t right (at all). Why? Well, Christmas is a holiday of joy, celebrating winter, family, and love. Kids get presents, play with their family, have a lot of fun. Remembrance Day is the opposite. You remember everyone who gave up a lot, for their families, future generations, and people in general. We all stop whatever we are doing and take at least a moment to think about soldiers, their families, and the sacrifices they all made. Some people really don’t care about it, and that is really wrong. It is disrespectful to buy the Christmas decorations which are supposed to bring joy. Remembrance Day is a serious occasion. If you start buying Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day, that kind of makes you think about all the happy things waiting in the future, but you don’t stop to think about all the things that happened in the past which were done to make sure we all have a future. You might also think that, well, you can’t buy Christmas related things, but you can still have fun. That is completely wrong. I once saw a person say that they were happy because it was a day off. I said that it is a day off, because we all have to take a minute to think about all the people who live, and lived during the scary times of wars. I think that there should be a fixed date when stores should start selling different decorations for different occasions. I think that the stores should start selling Christmas decorations/themed things on December 1st. I know that it is pretty late, but that is the time for the Christmas spirit to arrive. As Christmas in December, I think that it is a great time to start decorating, because if you start decorating, and stuff like that, you will run out of the holiday spirit. You might even start acting like a Grinch, and you don’t want that to happen, do you?
I think it’s both because Christmas shopping is good to buy but, we are supposed to be respectful on Remembrance Day. Christmas is a special day for both businesses and families. Preparing the decorations early before remembrance for both businesses and families will be helpful for them. The businesses can have more time to sell goods and families will have more time to buy gifts. It is good for the economy. The covid-19 pandemic has hurt both the businesses and families in the past two years. Having the decorations early could help the economy cheer up the families. If there were to be a set date to start selling thing and decorating for Christmas, I think it should be a time between late November to December 1st. Even though I love Christmas, I think that that time between late November to December 1st or early December should be enough time to finish shopping and decorating for Christmas. I celebrate Christmas on December 24 to December 25 usually or something close to that. If you start to celebrate as early as during Remembrance Day, you will eventually run out of the holiday spirit and could end up like a Grinch by then. It really doesn’t matter when you celebrate, but please don’t celebrate or at least start celebrating at a time that’s too close to Remembrance Day since that’s just disrespectful to veterans.
I would just like to mention that some stores are showing a very high level of disrespect towards veterans by putting up so many Christmas things that are attracting attention elsewhere instead of towards Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day is a time to honour and respect fallen soldiers, and apparently, stores think that the perfect way to do this is by putting up Christmas decorations. In my opinion, it is extremely disrespectful to do something like this as it gives off the idea that you don’t care about the fact that hundreds have died and sacrificed themselves so that you can live peacefully. War isn’t something that should be taken lightly. Even if you manage to crawl out of it alive, it can cause very traumatic results that can last for a lifetime. The least you can do is wait until afterwards to start with winter celebrations. Despite the fact that I heavily oppose this idea, I can understand why some shops put up their decorations early. As the modern world is fast-moving and quick to jump from one thing to another, it makes sense on why stores must be the first to put up something in order to catch the attention of customers. Otherwise, they’ll be left in the dust. For example, bigger stores such as Target usually have more customers, so no matter if you have a small or big business you have to be quick, or your competition will earn more money. Online shopping doesn’t help matters either. It’s becoming more and more popular as the years pass, making it more difficult for businesses to sell things. These all contribute to the problem, but the real root of this issue are customers. If stores put up decorations early, customers will probably feel obliged to buy them as they are reminded of the winter holidays and in addition, buying them early means there will be less people and less things to do on the actual holiday. The more people buy the décor the more others will probably also feel the need to start decorating early and so on. But how do we avoid this? This leads me onto the second question.
Should there be a fixed date on when retailers should start putting out Christmas décor? Personally, I think that there shouldn’t be an exact date, but retailers should at least wait until after Remembrance Day to start their decorating frenzy. That way, stores won’t be rushing to beat each other, and it’ll also won’t make customers feel like buying winter décor. In addition, the same thing should apply to online shopping as it is also apart of this problem. All in all, there doesn’t have to be an exact date, but out of respect, stores should wait until after Remembrance Day to get on with their winter celebrations.
In my personal opinion which may differ from yours is that yes, there should in fact be a set date only from which retailers have the right to start selling Christmas decor, let me explain. When a new smartphone is released, there is something called an “embargo period.” It is the amount of time that the media must wait before they can start posting things about the phone, be it videos, articles, you name it. I feel like with Remembrance day, there should be something similar. For example, after remembrance day, you must wait an entire week before you are allowed to put up or sell any Christmas decor. I feel like it is very important that we honour the fallen soldiers that fought for our land and our freedom. If anything, we wouldn’t be here right now celebrating things like Christmas if it weren’t for their sacrifices. It really disgusts me how some people have the will-power to do such a thing before acknowledging why they can even have the privilege of selling things on this land. It isn’t even December and we’re already getting ready for Christmas, but remembrance day is just around the corner and somehow that doesn’t matter. I understand that from a business standpoint, it makes a lot more sense for them to sell Christmas-themed things than to sell remembrance day things and create charities to support the cause, but it’s very important and sometimes life isn’t all about money and your financial status. You would not have any of those things if it weren’t for the sacrifices made. Anyways, now that I have given my opinion on the topic, allow me to offer a suggestion as to what we could do. Yes, I do believe that we should have a set date. It is important to draw a clear line between the two. I believe that in the month of November, we should focus more on remembrance day than on Christmas, because we’re already gonna have all of Winter dedicated to it after remembrance day.
Like I mentioned with the embargo date previously, there should absolutely be a date from which retailers are permitted to start selling seasonal things. And I think that goes for not only Christmas but other celebrations as well such as halloween and thanksgiving. I just find it very peculiar that as soon as a celebration ends, the stores immediately start selling things for the next thing happening. That really wouldn’t be a problem, had they included remembrance day as well. In conclusion, I find it absurd that we are dedicating all of our time to shopping for seasonal decor while completely forgetting to honour the soldiers that fought for our freedom and gave us the privilege of being able to celebrate with our family and friends in peace.
I think that Christmas should come before Remembrance Say because It’s a special holiday and celebration. Otherwise, If It was before Remembrance Day, then we would be having opposite things in the world. And, because we want to remember the people at Christmas time.
Like, if we had the opposite, then the presents and everything that would be during Christmas time in Remembrance Day, then everything would be just messed up probably.
Stores should be focused on Christmas because It’s a huge and exciting event, but also at the same time, Remembrance Day is a of sad day because people die, that’s why it’s called Remembrance Day.

Some stores have Christmas items, some stores have Remembrance Day items, and some stores could even have both. Christmas is about having decorations, a tree, lots of good foods!! But on the other hand, you can’t really celebrate Remembrance Day because again, it’s a sad day. Because Christmas is a holiday, and Remembrance Day is a sad day, I could say that they are both called, “Exciting and Sadness”. 1. Well we all have different opinions and in my opinion Christmas should and shouldn’t be celebrated on the date it is marked on and I have a few reasons why is that. Firstly it is Jesus’ birthday and is starts with “christ” like the work Christmas and Christian. Secondly the holiday is very unique and shouldn’t be celebrated right after Remembrance day it’s a tradition. Thirdly this can be disrespectful to christians celebrating Christmas. Fourthly this can be confusing for people and shouldn’t be celebrated right after something sad and important. Imagine this today is very sad and the next day everyone is just happy how disrespectful would that be? Reason 5 it can bother those who celebrate Christmas but don’t like to see it very early. Reason 6 it is really weird and can be judged. That’s all the reasons but I have other reasons why it should be celebrated early. Here are some examples of the opposite. Firstly you can be happier because Christmas is here faster. Secondly you get your gifts and other goods earlier. Thirdly it can make children happier since they get to learn about it faster. Fourthly the children can get to know if Santa is real or not earlier in this case he is fake but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate Christmas. That’s all the reasons why it’s better to celebrate it earlier. Overall I think I’m in the middle of the debate. Some think it’s better to do it earlier. Some people think it’s not. People have their own opinions and mine are both they should be celebrated earlier and on the correct date. Last but not least everyone has their opinions and they all matter so it doesn’t matter when you celebrate it.
2. I think they shouldn’t sell Christmas decor that early like right in mid November instead they should sell decorations around mid December. The stores will be filled with Christmas related things and they won’t be able to find what they need. Stores like the dollar store are like this so they should not be selling Christmas decor so early. This can affect the amount of resources used like plastic. They should just sell them a week or so before the holiday.
3. Overall this is my opinion but I think the first question is both and it doesn’t matter. The second question is you should have a date 1 or 2 weeks before that holiday.
I think that both holidays are very important but to be honest, I think the stores started way too early to add those Christmas decoration and add christmas related stuff such as clothes and gifts. Both holidays are important to certain people and for me but I think they could’ve waited until remembrance is over because remeber, without those soldiers who died for us, we probrally wouldn’t even be able to celebrate Christmas. It is just a disrespect to the people who died for us and the soldiers died in world war 2. Could you imagine one day your son or daughter had to go to war and never came back? Well if that was me I would cry forever. I am not saying that Christmas is not an important holiday but Christmas is more like a “happy holiday”. Chritmas is about jesus birth and remembrence day is about people dying. So I think they could’ve first sell all the poppies and all the flowers for remebrence day and then after remembrence day is over, they can start putting out all the Chritmas stuff. Think about it, while your talking to your loved ones who passed away and suddenly you saw Chritmas decoration and lights all over the place, how would you feel? We need to start think for other people instead of being so selfish. We need to acknoledge for what they did for us and we need to respect them for what they did for us. Also, another thing is that Chirtmas is two months away and people are already starting to put Christmas decoration? I seriously don’t know what those people are thinking. I get it that some stores bought Chritmas stuff early but again, those Christmas gifts can buy those lifes. As in colclusion, i think it is completely useless to start decorating Christmas things. Rest in peace for those who sacrificed for us. God bless for those people who died.
I think the best day to start setting up Christmas around 2 weeks before Christmas. Or you can start putting up Christmas decoration around the start of December. But i think they should definitely change the date because right after Halloween, Walmart decided to put santas and jingle bells all over the store. So yes, they should change the date of which day they should start putting up the decorations. But my boarder is after remembrence is over.
Last few things i want to say is that Christmas and remembrence are both important so no need to be mad at those storekeepers. But i am going to say this again we have to pay respect to the soldiers who died for us.
I understand and acknowledge that veterans may feel disrespected when people decorate their homes or theirs shops with Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day. We should use this time to reflect on the sacrifices they have made that have impacted us. I do however also acknowledge that due to Covid, this year will be a very different year in terms of Christmas shopping. There are global shortages of containers and so retailers will be out of stock of many items and will not be able to meet the normal supply of Christmas shoppers this year. Also due to Covid, immigration into Canada has practically come to a halt. This means that there are fewer people available to work in retail stores and do delivery services. People are very aware of this and therefore it makes sense that people are being more mindful about Christmas shopping earlier to ensure that their loved ones receive it. I think that is pure disrespect to the soldiers because if they did not fight for us then we would not be here to celebrate Christmas. I feel like we are only starting to recognize Remembrance Day now and the day after we just forget it, but with other holidays we have started prepping for them way ahead of time. Did you know that a very small percentage of the world celebrates Valentine’s day, yet every store decorates for it? I think they should put Christmas decorations two weeks before Christmas because you can’t take longer than a week to put up Christmas decorations. I get that people are just happy and excited for Christmas, but you must acknowledge the sad day when so many soldiers died. Many citizens are complaining because other people are telling them to celebrate Remembrance Day first, but they are saying that the stores have the decorations and they are just buying them. This brings me to my next point, I went to the mall two days after Halloween and Winners and Dollarama were all full of Christmas decorations but I did not see a single shop put up poppies or show recognition of Remembrance Day.
I think that they should change the when they put up decorations and when the stores start selling them. We should wait at least a week before we start putting up decorations. I get that people don’t like to wait and some people make it their main priority, but we should wait a few days to show acknowledgement to the soldiers or anyone who dies to protect Canada. There should be a changed date and we should not put up decorations for a celebration during the time people are meant to be reflecting. That is overall how I feel about Remembrance Day and Christmas.
I think that Christmas decorations should start after Remembrance Day. Why? Well with the Christmas decorations up and stores selling Christmas gifts way before Christmas and Remembrance Day it’s not showing any respect to the veterans and soldiers that gave up their lives so that we could even celebrate Christmas. The decorations are just a distraction from remembering the lives lost for us. Some houses even have their decor up before Halloween! This is crazy and I think people have to slow down (that’s what she said) (sorry)and remember the fallen soldiers. Some stores say that they have to set up Christmas decorations and gifts early, or else their customers would just go to the next store that is selling Christmas stuff. But if they look at the other side, if every store signed something where they would not put up decorations until after Remembrance Day it would be so much better. This way stores would not have to worry about sales. Like, can stores not wait like 12 more days??? It is so unfair to the veterans and soldiers that offered their life to just have a day to remember them thrown away and everyone thinking about Christmas instead. Sure you put up Christmas lights and a tree and you still have time to think about the soldiers that died for you? I Don’t think so. Wearing a poppy is one thing, but actually taking the time out of your day to remember the veterans is something else.
Probably a couple days after Remembrance Day because there is no need to rush the decorations. Even though remembrance day has already passed we should still take the time to remember and acknowledge the fact that we would not be here if not for them. Stores should also not only have poppies and remembrance day things, the money should be donated to the veterans or a good cause instead of the store profiting from that. I Would also like to bring radio stations into this conversation because Ihave heard at least three radio stations with Christmas music like right after Halloween.If we look on the other side though, people that decorate are much happier. But, their neighbors tend to be…. pretty pissed with them. Anyways…I think in general that everyone is rushing everything and that we should slow down the pace in which we celebrate holidays.

Hi, my name is Icheng today I am going to tell you about Christmas before Remembrance Day is it good or not good. I think that I would put Christmas before Remembrance Day or at the same time is because if I were a sales owner at winners, I will think Christmas Is coming up and if I want to make money then I should quickly order some Christmas thing. If I do not do that then customers will come not go to my store to buy Christmas things. That is why the shops are putting up Christmas things before Christmas even here. Plus, if small businesses what to earn money, then they need to put it up like three months early while other businesses put it up one month. I feel that if this thing keeps on going on I do not think that anybody will even stop this. If this is kept on going on I think the most they can do Is just say do not do it. So, these are some reasons I think that putting Christmas before Remembrance Day is not a clever idea. On the other hand, I think that Christmas should wait and sell Remembrance Day thing is because we should have the time to remember the thing that the soldiers sacrifice their life for us. Anyways it is very disrespectful that the stores sell Christmas things while it is still Remembrance Day. Plus, we cannot even do anything because that there is no law for selling Christmas things early, so we do not have control over them, so that is why they can sell Christmas things early. Did you know not only Remembrance Day was treated disrespectfully Halloween was treated disrespectfully too and more holydays are treated disrespectfully too? And if they want to sell Christmas things then maybe they can do half of the store Christmas, and half Remembrance Day things, so it can be more even and they can also keep up with the other stores, so they will not keep left in the dust.so this is some reason that Christmas should wait. Anyway, my last answer is that I think that both sides have their reasons, so why I am in the middle.

Money is not as important as respecting the dead, is because if it is not for the people that die, we will not even be there. On the other I think that we do not need a fixed date on when retailers should start putting out Christmas décor is because if the sales owners do not put the Christmas décor as fast as they can then they will not earn as much money, so if they do not money then how do they survive and how will they pay the employs. That is why I am in the middle because they all have their bad parts and their good part.
3. I have no other details/facts/opinions that I would like to mention.
I think Christmas decorations should wait until after Remembrance Day, because it is extremely disrespectful to the soldiers and veterans who served in the wars for us. Christmas decorations distract people from the importance of Remembrance day. Most people in the world don’t care about the people who served or even died in the wars, unless they were close to them. Children or other family members of a person fighting in a war would be the only ones really caring about him or her. Other people may not even know this person’s name. Not all people are like this. Some people do appreciate the people who defended us, whether any of them was close to him or her or not. By putting on Christmas decorations, people are not reflecting on the very meaning of Remembrance Day. I think it is important to remember the people who died so that we could be where we are, instead destroyed in the hands of a different country. Also, Christmas and Remembrance Day have opposite meanings. Christmas is about spreading joy and being happy. Remembrance day is about acknowledging the people who have served and died for us. Buying stuff to make people happy doesn’t go along with remembering people who died. Putting up decorations too early can also piss off the people who actually honor the people who fought for us. This is why people should wait until after Remembrance Day to buy Christmas decorations and gifts.
I think there should be a fixed date to put out Christmas decorations. In my opinion,December 4th would be alright, because people have had the time to remember the soldiers and veterans, and because they need enough time to decorate. If retailers start putting out decorations on the 25th, then the people that defended us got the respect they deserved, and the people can purchase and put up decorations on time. Putting the decorations up before Remembrance Day also means the retailers are not acknowledging the reason they can. Since, the reason they can do it, is because of the sacrifices made from others long ago.

I think we should put Christmas decorations after Remembrance Day so it is not disrespectful for veterans and the people who died during the war. Christ mas is important to people but we should still remember and honor the people who died for our country and it is disrespectful for putting Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day. The people should stop selling Christmas decorations before remembrances day Crist mas is a fun holiday who people celebrate Jesuses birth and eat a big feast on Christ mas but Remembrance Day is different the people respect and honor who died in wars and veterans who survived the war for saving and protecting our great country Canada There should be a fixed date for the Christmas décor. The people should start selling Christmas decorations on December 1 because people have a lot of time to buy decorations until Christmas and there is no point buying it first. the people should honor and thank the people who fought for our country and people should remember them for days and be sad who died in the war If someone dies in their family it is depressing and we should remember thousands of soldiers who died in the war. I think every celebration or remembrances could be on different days to enjoy a lot each one of this celebrations. So I think that can be first the good or bad remembrances and after the happy celebrations,because then will be a tragedy with a lot of presents and remembrances at the same time, and then would have people that just commemorate one of does. And then will be weird because will have happy decorations for Christmas, but if you prefer remembrance day you will be thinking of sad remembrance and when you look back to another house would have a lot of decorations so that doesn’t make sense right. And I will choose remembrance day first because if you stop to think a little bit you will note that if remembrance day is a not so happy remembrance then you choose this one first because is sad and then you put Chrismas to have more fun and forget the bad things
I don’t think so that needs to be a fixed date because have a special day to commemorate this thing but you can decorate on the day that you want because does t important if you are late, is just to commemorate! For remembrance day is not obligatory to decorate, in Chrismas too,but on Chrismas, if you want that Santa Claus be happy, decorate your house and you have to feel the passion this incredible things that happens all years around the world! Most of the holidays have a special person to represent, I mean that like Christmas has Santa Claus to represent, or on easter have the rabbit, so is all holidays to commemorate be happy.
