Last Wednesday, students in Division 2 learned about the reason why we have Orange Shirt Day. We watched a video explaining the day’s origins. Afterwards, students created their own Orange Shirts explaining why they matter. This activity is in line with the Truth and Reconciliation goal we are working towards this school year, which is below:
63. We call upon the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada to maintain an annual commitment to Aboriginal education issues, including:
iii. Building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
