Entomophagy

Today I will talk about Entomophagy. What is Entomophagy you ask? It is the practice of eating insects. Awhile back in class, we had the chance to watch a video by TedEd about Entomophagy. It had so many interesting facts, like, insects are more healthy than some of the stuff we eat EVERYDAY! Interesting right? I thought so. After all that, we got to eat FRIED CRICKETS. They tasted better than they looked, they were delicious!

Sept. Precept

“When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind.” Is Mr. Browne’s September precept. In this blog I will be explaining what I think this means. I’m pretty sure this means to not be selfish and think about others. I believe it has a message in it, which is that you should be more caring to other people, whether you know them or not, and to also share. Being kind is the always the right option to choose, even if the other option is to win 1, 000, 00 dollars!

Foods I Like

There are foods I like, definitely

There are foods for you and foods for me.

There’s pizza, ice cream, chocolate

Burgers, fries, and onion rings!

There’s donuts, cakes, banana bread

Iced tea, root beer, that’s what I said!

This list would go through eternity

But I like food, and i’m hungry!

Oct Precept.

“Your deeds are your monuments.” is Mr. B’s October precept. I think this precept means every good thing you do will be like a memorable statue, because it will be your reputation and people will remember you for that. It is like when you help a friend out on a big assignment, he/she will know you as a helper, or someone that he/she can rely on, or maybe you helped an elderly person pick up his/her dropped groceries, he/she will remember you as a very kind and generous person, and maybe the next time you go back there, that exact person might remember you, and they might do something kind or generous back. Basically what i’m trying to say here is: Whatever good deed or action you do to someone else, it will act as a monument because it will build up what they think of you, or remember you as.

Now, because I have explained what i thought it meant, I will tell you a story about having my deeds as monuments, like a life story basically. So i remember this one time last year there was a teacher, or a person practising to be a teacher, helping my main teacher teach (That’s a lot of Teach’s). This person wasn’t always in the classroom, but we would see her at least 3 to 4 times a week, and one day I had to take the bus home because something was wrong with my Mom’s car, so we couldn’t use it, and I didn’t expect that teacher to be taking the same bus as me, so that was cool. We got in, payed the amount we were suppose to, then we sat down. The teacher was sitting near the front of the bus, which is a one seat, so it would be pretty cool to sit there, and then she drops a bunch of coins. At first, everyone just stared down at the coins, and since nobody was really doing anything, I decided to pick them up and hand it back to her. After that, she said thank you and i went back to my seat. I saw her a few times again that week, and now that i look back at it, i believe i built a monument of myself with that one deed 🙂
