  1. Hi Div 7,
A challenge for you over cyberspace – we need eyes to see new things from old things. I want to see how many classes would be willing to seek out signs of Autumn [change] and post up for the world to see. Try doing a short podcast recording > use Vocaroo or any other recording tool. What do you see as the signs of Autumn? Describe it as only you can. Make it interesting so people can create your picture in their head as they listen to you. We want to tweet this out to see what happens. Invite your parents into this too.

    Happy Autumn,
    Ms Chow 🙂

      1. HI Erica,
Yes I am a teacher in the Burnaby School District – I support your teacher in creating websites and doing cool things with technologies. Perhaps someday I’ll be able to pop in and see what you’re doing in class.

        Ms Chow

      2. Hi Dobra.
I do teach in Burnaby. It is a district position supporting teachers and principals in the use of technologies. Before that I taught Grades 5-7.

        Ms Chow

    1. You are welcome,Hanna! I really enjoyed putting it together and am learning as I go. It’s really important to keep on learning and trying new things in life. Remember our class slogan: You only life once! And remember to always take a risk and try to leave your comfort zone. Through making glorious mistakes, you are learning!

    1. I think we are going to stick to the avatars we have for now until we learn how to change them together. I quite like the little ‘monsters’ that each of you have right now as your avatars.

        1. The monster avatars are a part of the program that I am using and they are randomly chosen for each of you. I think they are creative and colourful. What do you think of them?

    1. I’m glad that you find this website helpful. I am looking forward to reading more of everyone’s thoughtful comments about what we are learning in class. Last year, I created my very first class website, but it looked very different. I thought I would experiment with something new this year and quite like this format better. I am still learning as I go along and am counting on everyone’s feedback to help steer me in the right direction.

  2. Do you know that my goal for this year is to be better in multiplication and division?Well I tried out Johnnies math page and it helped me!

    1. I hope to attend later in the evening after I take my daughter to one of her lessons. I am looking forward to it! Mrs. Bennett and Ms. Farrell will also be there!

    1. Ms. Farrell cannot yet access the website but that is a fabulous idea! I will have to invite her as a user to our class website. Thanks for the idea, Lindsay.

      1. My children and I really enjoyed the potluck tonight and the activities in Family Gym. Thanks to all of the families for attending and sharing a dish with the class and a big thank you to Hanna’s mom for organizing the event.

    1. The program has a limited number of monster designs so it looks like some people will have the same one. Good for you for noticing. You are very observant!

    1. Our buddy class is Mrs. Bains’ class which is a grade 2/3 split. We will meet them for the very first time on Wednesday and read a story. I would imagine that you are all excited about being big buddies and taking on a leadership role. What do you think your responsibilities are as a big buddy?

  3. Hello class. I really liked socials today. I liked learning about the fish in Newfoundland because my mom is from Newfoundland. I was there for a full month when I was 4 years old. We visited Signal Hill and we went whale watching. Has anyone else in the class been to Newfoundland and Labrador?

    1. I am so glad that you enjoyed the Social Studies lesson today, Mei Lin, and that you have a connection to the Appalachian region that we are learning about! You will have to tell us more about Signal Hill and the whale watching that you did. Do you remember seeing any whales? Perhaps you have some pictures that you can share with the class or some stories to tell.

  4. Outside of school i play football. When my brother was in Moscrop he joined football team,so when i grow up and i go to moscrop i will join football.I also like basketball.because when i was 6 or 5 i was watching LA Lakers. Then he did a crazy SLAM DUNK. So now i play basketball with my friends everytime i get home from school.

    1. Yes, finelining would be fine and would probably make you pictures really stand out too. I can’t wait to see your completed booklet! Your front cover page was carefully completed so I am looking forward to the inside pages.

          1. Good for you for finishing your booklet Cherry! Try to practice some of the sentences in your booklet until our next French class.

  5. Mrs. Mannm I accidentally put my after school comment in the Bambaloo story comment page because Dobra was helping me copy the after school comment in the 60 min kids club and we accidentally put it to the Bambaloo comment page, is that okay to you?

    1. Thank you for letting me know, Gilbur! You can repost your comment in the correct category if you like but don’t worry about it too much as I know where to find it now.

  6. Today I learned that there are 29 bones in my skull that form strong protection around my brain. I have a great book on the human body that has a 3D model of the body inside. My mom says I can bring it to school to share while we are learning about the body in Science. Do you have a fun or interesting fact about the human body that you can post?

    1. That is a very interesting fact about the bones that form your skull, Mei Lin! Your book on the human body sounds fascinating, and I know your classmates and teachers would appreciate viewing it. Did you know that babies are born with 300 bones in their body, but when you become an adult, you will have only 206 bones. I wonder why that is? What are your thoughts division seven?

      1. I think if babies have 300 bones, they include soft bones such as ears bones and some part of your skull. When you become an adult ,these soft bones turns into skins.

  7. Hi Mrs. Mann I was wondering if you could put the spelling words on the blog if you have then or not. If you cant that is okay and I will study at recesses if that is all right?

    1. Hi Xander,

I am sorry, but I do not have the words with me. You can, of course, stay in at recess to study on Monday. Perhaps if you have the phone number of someone in our class, you can give that person a call.

    2. Hi Xander. Here are the spelling words:

      Echo

      Hope this helps!

      Mei Lin

      1. Thank you, Mei Lin, for posting the spelling words for Xander or anybody else who needs them. That was very thoughtful and considerate of you! Just remember that the words do not need to be capitalized unless they are proper nouns (names of people, places or things) or the beginning of a sentence. Just another note to everyone, if you have a question about homework, please post your comment on the Homework page.

    1. Hi Julea,

Mrs. Bennett and I think it would be fine if the class arrived at school in their costumes in the morning. It is going to be a very exciting and busy day!

  8. Hello
    2 questions
It’s very sad that Gilbur haves to leaves the school because he’s such good friend.

Ms. Mann is Ms. Ferral and Ms. Bennett invited to the blog because I want to see their avitars!!!

P.S. (Sorry I do not know how to spell Ms. Ferral and avitars!!!!!!!!!)

  9. Hi Mrs. Mann I was wondering if I could do a presentation on the sculptors that I was talking about at the gallery on wed? If can do it on Mon. that would be great because my Dad can bring a few of the statues as appose to the pictures on my I pad. Also my grandpa said that I can bring a stone in and the mallet and chisel to show how he made them and they also are very detailed with lines and different shapes, and sizes of stone.

    1. Hi Xander,

That sounds like a wonderful idea! I am so glad that you made a connection to your Grandpa and his sculpting while on our field trip to the Burnaby Art Gallery. It must be exciting to have an artist in your family living right in your house. Have you learned some of the techniques that your Grandpa uses? Have you sculpted some pieces of your own?

    1. To end your session with Google Docs, simply log out. Remember that your document is automatically saved so you don’t have to worry about saving before you log out. On Friday, we will talk about sharing our work with other people in the class.

  10. for the comments that have to give back were do you put it I do you put it in the paragraph that they sent to you or do you start another document and then send it to them and you?

    1. Hi Xander,

I’ve read your comments and they are very thorough and specific. Good for you! I know that Mei Lin will appreciate such positive feedback. Once you type your comments, you send them by clicking on the comment blue box at the bottom. You do not need to start another document. To reply to someone else’s comment, just click on the reply button of their comment. By the way Xander, if you have another question about homework, please post it under the ‘Homework’ page instead of the ‘Welcome’ post. Thank you.

      1. Ok and thank you. I was also wondering if on Monday I could hand out 29 paper cranes one for everybody in the class including you and Mrs. Farrell at the end of the day? Because I have already folded 14 and I am still folding then.

        1. That would be a lovely and thoughtful idea Xander! I know everybody, including me, would appreciate a hand-folded paper crane made by you. Remember to include Mrs. Bennett too.

    1. Hi Gilbur!

I hope you are enjoying your new school. We do miss you! To post to us, go to the Dashboard which is under Cascade Heights Division Seven on the left side of your screen. 1. Happy Holidays to you too, Xander! Please repost this comment in the ‘Happy Holidays Division Seven’ post because I don’t think your classmates will find it here under ‘Welcome’
