I think reading the story about Nellie McClung was interesting, but also sad. If Nellie hadn’t taken a stand, the world would be a totally different from what it is today. Girls would not have as many rights, like for example: it would be weird if I played foot ball today, just because I’m a girl. It doesn’t seem very fair does it? Thanks to Nellie, I can play foot ball today , and it would be very impressive. I am grateful to Nellie, not just because she helped give girls their rights, but also she made the world a better place.
i think it was interesting to.
I agree
I agree all women and men should be equal.
I agree it was sad that woman did not get rights
I know, it makes you wonder, why did men think they were better then girls at the time?
If Nellie McClung had not taken a stand for womans rights woman would not be able to get jobs that men do like politics, woman would have had to bear the destiny of staying in the kitchen, cooking food and doing household chores.Nellie McClung proved that woman could be as talented as men if they get a chance, and Nellie McClung gave them that opportunity to woman.Alot of woman that I know would not have been who they were, if it was not for Nellie McClung.I am really pleased that Nellie McClung did such a courageous think that showed them that their not hyenas in petticoats that have to be servants for 24 hours a day.I hope all woman know that they can do anything if they have courage like Nellie McClung, but sadly their is still something that really upsets me and makes me mad. That thing is that woman in some countries still do not have the equal rights as men, they are still being used as slaves in some countries which is unacceptable. We have to work TOGETHER to put a full stop to slavery to woman in ALL countries. If we work together we can do this, all woman deserve the equal rights as men, so lets work together and give woman the equal rights in all countries
I agree. woman have the same rights as men do, neither one is better, they both have equal rights.
You are right. We need to treat male and female equally.
I think so to, that woman should have the same rights as men do.
I agree
Nellie McClung was brave and courageous who wanted freedom for all women. If Nellie McClung didn’t do anything there would not be any equality for women in Canada. Nellie McClung played a very important roll in Canada’s history.
YES. I agree, definitely!
I think it would be way different because on voting day only my dad would go out to vote. Something else is i can’t believe woman ,weren’t allowed to run for mayor,or a member of parliament.I really enjoyed reading about Nellie McClung
I think if she didn’t stand up for woman’s rights, girls would not have the rights to vote and to have any other jobs that men would have, like the prime ministers or other jobs. I’m glad that the famous five had stood up for woman’s rights in Canada.
I think that it was very brave for the famous five to stand up.
Yes, Andrea, you are right! Not only did Nellie fight for girls rights, the famous five did too!
I think so to, I agree.
If Nellie McClung didn’t fight for the right of women, women wouldn’t be able to play sports like soccer, or football, or vote and run for a member of parliament. If Nellie didn’t fight for women’s rights, then women would just be working at home and not have freedom and have an exciting and adventurous life. Nellie did the right thing for women cause women are as talented as men and they should have the right to do things that men do like sports and if it wasn’t for her, then women wouldn’t be able to run for president or mayor or any member of parliament. If i were her, I would have done the same thing because if it wasn’t for her, no one would have proved that women are not just hyenas in petticoats but they are women with the right to be treated fairly and equally. The sad thing is she only proved in Canada and still in other places women are treat as slaves which is very depressing and sad. Nellie McClung was very brave to stand up for women’s rights and I think that she is very courageous. I think this rule should stay on forever. I think she was brave and courageous. What do you think about Nellie McClung?
You are right Jacob. It would be more boring for females if Nellie had not taken a stand.
If Nellie McClung had not stood up for womens rights, there would be no women governments in Canada right now. I think what she did was courages because most people were against letting women be “qualified persons,” be able to vote, and be able to become a member of the parliament. If she had not done what she did, than women would still be always in the kitchen, cooking, and doing household chores. Nellie McClung put on a play that showed men the womens point of veiw and after that, most of the men approved. Nellie showed everybody that women are not creatures that work as servants everyday. They are people that should be treated the same way as the men do. I wonder how Nellie felt when she found out that there were no races for girls and how she felt when she was playing football with her students and the parents objected. I still wonder why back then it would not be nice for girls and women to show skin. I enjoyed reading about Nellie McClung
Yes. If it wasn’t for Nellie women wouldn’t be able to show their strength.
I’m really thankful that Nellie McClung took a stand because if she didn’t there wouldn’t be girls soccer teams or girls volleyball teams. If I was Nellie McClung I don’t think I would be brave enough to stand up to the Prime Minister. She fought hard for women’s rights and didn’t stop fighting no matter what.I think that Nellie McClung changed the future for many girls.
I agree that she changed the future of many girls.
Yes, Isha, girls would definitely have a boring sports life!
I think that Nellie mcClung made it easer for woman and girls. She was brave and she did not give up. When I look up her all I can say is that she makes it look so easy, how she stands up for women. If she did not stand up for women we would not have the right to vote. I very thankful for Nellie.
I think that Nellie McClung was a very brave and tedermined woman. She wanted to give females as much equality as males, and she did because she was strong to stand up for females, and believed she could do so. I enjoied reading the story about Nellie McClung because it was really interesting and kind of sad and unbeleivable how men didn’t treat woman equaly, because it’s very unfair. I am really grateful for Nellie taking a stand because I know I would not have been brave enough to speak up to the politics like she did and if it wasn’t for her, girls probably wouldn’t be able to do fun things like play soccer or compete in races, and there woudn’t be any female professional athletes. Nellie McClung is a true Canadian hero and a great role model which I look up to.
I wonder what would the world be like today with out Nellie McClung? What about the other four women, could they have changed Canada without Nellie McClung?
Yes that got me thinking, could they have changed the world without Nellie McClung?
I wonder to.
I think Nellie McClung along with the famous five were brave women who stood up for what they believed in even though there was a chance they could have been hung, electrocuted, put in the gas chamber as punishment all of them are a great inspiration who I idolize.
Without Nellie McClung and the famous 5 women wouldn’t still have any rights. Women wouldn’t be able make alining. Nellie McClung has had a very large impact on women’s right’s.Without Nellie McClung has stood up for millions or even billions of women over not just Canada all over world. But sadly not ever country in the world women have. Some of want to speak up to the president or prime minister of the country. Sometimes they would sadly kill them or do something.Well this is my way of seed the world without Nellie McClung or the famous 5.
i agree
I agree
I really look up to Nellie McClung because I think she is a very brave and smart women . If it wasn’t for her, womens would still be in farms working hard and giving, the mans there bunny slippers and coffee , and being told to stop playing in sports and games. When mens would have the opportunity to go to school and have the jobs they want or do any sport they want , and vote in elections too. If Nellie McClung didn’t fought for the rights of women. They would still treat women and men differently. So i really thank Nellie McClung for standing up for the women’s rights and everything she done to help. Thats why I look up to Nellie McClung. How about you?
Nellie McClung was very courageous because she stood up for women’s rights in playing the same sports as men, such as football. She also spoke out for women to be more involved in politics, like running for mayor. If it wasn’t for Nellie McClung women wouldn’t be able to be mayors, or seen as equals to men. Now it’s also against the law to beat up children and their mothers. She made everyone more aware of women’s rights.
I think what men did to there women and children was unfair and cruel becouse women should have the right to vote and to be in the goverment
I agree what they did to their children really upsets me.
Correction: I looked up online the Canadian parliament website and I meant to say senators, not mayors. There are currently 32 out of 83 senators that are women today, so that goes to show you how much Nellie McClung has done for women’s rights, including my aunt Mobina Jaffer who is the first female south Asian senator in Canada.
Life would be so much different if Nellie McClung hadn’t taken for women’s rights.Nellie McClung was a determined woman who stood up for woman’s rights.Without Nellie McClung, life would be so much different.Women wouldn’t be able to vote, do the same activities as boys, and run for public office, such as mayor or members of parliament.I’m so thankful for Nellie because if she didn’t stand up, I wouldn’t be able to do sports without people thinking it’s not ladie like. That would be so unfair! Now Nellie McClung is one of my heroines.I’m so glad she took a stand for women’s rights.I would love to read more about her.
I agree Kiera , if Nellie McClung hadn’t took a stand sports for girls wouldn’t be the same.
I agree, because if we were doing a P.E class and the girls were not there it would be unusual
are you sure? To me it would not be unusual.
Everything would be very different if Nellie McClung did not fight for womens rights. For example at school I could not join the volleyball team and their would only be a boys team.I am thrilled I can join a bunch of clubs, teams, and many more things.I am very proud of Nellie McClung and what she did for all women.
Nellie MClung is right women should have the same rights as men.
Now boys and girls do same things.
I agree.
