"Music is the universal language of mankind." — H.W. Longfellow

Intermediate – Week 2

Here is your online activity for this week.

You’ll be using Song Maker in Chrome Music Lab to complete this activity.

Below are two of the guitar tabs you’ve been working on in music class.  The single note melody is provided for you. Your task is to add some harmonies to fill out the song. Your finished product should include at least 3 parts (for example, the melody which is provided, a harmony part and a percussion part), and the melody should still be somewhat recognizable.

If you would like to add more detail to the song, you can change some of the settings. Increasing “Range” will give you access to higher/lower notes, changing “Scale” to “chromatic” will give you access to more notes, and splitting the beats into 4 will split each beat into sixteenth notes (the default 2 per beat splits them into eighth notes).

When you have finished your piece, click on “Save” at the bottom.

Once you’ve finished this, explore some of the other experiments that Chrome Music Lab has to offer to see how they work. If you’d like a challenge, try to re-create a song you know in Song Maker, or write your own song!
