A valuable resource from the band method book called Essential Elements can help you review the proper start-up techniques.

  • PLEASE watch the video(s) / check the start-up diagrams for YOUR INSTRUMENT to be sure you are doing things correctly.  

You can revisit the links until they expire on October 31, 2024.

  • To access the video folders right now, you need a password to access the files.
  • The password will be provided during class.

Please watch the videos by October 11.

  • There will be a short follow-up assignment in class during the following week.

  • click SETTINGS — under TRANSPOSITION, select Bb3 (notice your instrument is listed)
  • click TUNER — start playing to check your pitch.

TENOR SAXOPHONE

  • click SETTINGS — under TRANSPOSITION, select Bb2 (notice your instrument is listed)
  • click TUNER — start playing to check your pitch.

Music is a language — and learning to read and play in a new language takes time and practice.  When you use the new language regularly, it WILL get easier to remember, to read, and to play.
