We will be having our school Remembrance Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 10th at 11:00 am. This is an important assembly where we recognize the importance of peace, kindness and the courage of our Veterans in preventing wars. This is a sombre assembly and we do not have any clapping, and practice silence. Members of the community are welcome to attend our assembly. Don’t forget there is no school on Remembrance Day – Wed, Nov 11th.
You’re ready for this! Please know all Halloween vocabulary. It is matching, so you won’t need to spell the French words, but you will need to know if they are masculine or feminine words. Check out the French Page (top menu) for a list of the vocabulary words.
Don’t forget we have our family Halloween event Thursday night (Oct 29) in the Maywood gym from 5:30-7:30pm. There will be crafts, games, treats, and a haunted house! Cost is $2/family and proceeds go to Maywood’s breakfast club.
Friday is dress-up day for Maywood, so please come dressed in an appropriate Halloween costume (no weapons, gore, or suggestive clothing).
On another note…
We will be getting a garden tour Friday morning and will be spending some time in the garden harvesting. Please be sure your child has rain gear for the weather.

October is upon us and we seem to be speeding through our days! Some quick reminders:
- Please remember to bring in your Young Peoples Concert form and money ($10/student or $16 for a sibling pair).
- Our next X-country meet is Tuesday, Oct 13th. This is our last one! Congratulations everyone who participated!!

- Oct 23 is our PROVINCE WIDE Pro-D day — no school
We have a professional development day next Monday, September 28th, so there will be no school for your child. If you want to know more about what teachers do on their professional development days, I’m happy to fill you in on all the work and learning we do during this time!
Intake Interviews were conducted this week, with early dismissal happening at 2pm. It has been a great pleasure meeting Div. 3 parents! If you missed your time or couldn’t make it for whatever reason, please feel free to reschedule. You can contact me through my contact page on this blog or leave a message in your child’s planner.
Get your shoes ready because Maywood Community has the good fortune of having coaches from the Jerome Outreach Society (and four dedicated teachers!) coach our team this year!
Practices run 7:45-8:45am Tuesdays and Thursdays (Sept 16-Oct 15). Students meet by the gym foyer doors.
Running meets are held on Monday, Sept 21 and Oct 5th from 3:30-4:30pm at the Burnaby Lake East Sports Complex. Students will leave the school at 3pm and will return at 5pm. There will be a final awards meet on Tuesday, Oct 13th 3:00-6:00pm at the BLESC.
We’ve had a nice, hot summer and just in the nick of time the rains came to help refill our water reservoirs!
