Plant Walk and Science World!

What a great couple field trips we’ve had this month!

We finished our Plants unit (Science) with a special plant walk with indigenous plant specialist, Cease Wyss, who told us many stories of plants and their special qualities. Thank you, Cease! Though it was a rainy day, it was great to learn so much from you!

We also went to Science World and participated in a Chemistry Lab, learning about pH, solutions and reactions. What a great day!

We’re going on a PLANT WALK with indigenous plant diva, Cease Wyss

We’ve finally confirmed our date for the plant walk with Ms. Hotomanie and Cease Wyss, an” indigenous plant diva” who will be sharing her traditional knowledge of the plants that can be found throughout the streets and everyday spaces of Vancouver and Burnaby, reminding us that the medicines are all around us in our urbanized environments!

We’ll head out first thing in the morning, April 12 at 9:00am and will return in time for lunch. We are going rain or shine, so please come prepared for all kinds of weather!

I know you won’t believe it but I’m actually in Mr. Marghelis is class, and probably Danijel and Angelica remember him but it’s ok if you don’t. I miss you guys; I still have to pick up my stuff there! Ok, have a great time you guys.

Welcome back!

Hey folks!

I’ve been away longer than expected and the holidays were so busy I didn’t get a chance to login to our site to check for comments. Sorry it took me so long to post and approve comments!

This term…

  • Get ready for LITERATURE CIRCLES! Students are responsible for completing their group’s assigned section EACH WEEK. Please keep up to date on these assignments.

Our SNOW-SHOEING field trip was a total success! Thanks to all who helped by volunteering and lending clothes or snowshoes! Without you we couldn’t have done it.

Our ART project has begun!

Exciting stuff is happening in Art these days. Watch our progress on the ART pagepicture1

So far, we’ve only papier mached 1-2 layers, but we’re hoping to get to 3-4 layers before we start adding ears and noses, etc… we finish with acrylic paint and a high-gloss protective layer.
