Why is Auggie deserving this medal.

I think Auggie deserves this medal because in the start of the book no one really like Auggie that much they thought he had the “plague”. No one would go close to Auggie or even look at his face for that matter, but then things quickly shifted Auggie  was becoming friends with Jack and as we know from the Julian chapter Jack was afraid and nervous to meet Auggie but now they are friends. Auggie didn’t make many friends until jack started talking trash about Auggie on Halloween. Auggie soon found a nice friend called summer and they even made their own table the “summer table.” Auggie was starting to feel more recognized by more people but still Auggie remains with only 2 friends. Auggie quickly started gaining friends after coming back after the nature retreat and near the end Auggie said, “Not to brag but I felt like people wanted to be close to me.”

Now we all know it doesn’t matter what you look like you can still make friends if you try hard enough and Auggie made so many new friends. And not all of those friends were just because of the nature retreat but because people started to like Auggie as a person people stopped caring how he look like. And people stopped staring at him because of his face because he made many new friends but not really trying that hard just try to be yourself don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Auggie lifted so many spirits like his moms and dads and his friends to and he was himself not someone else. He really was not expecting to earn this medal but his did and so many people started cheering for him. They were yelling Auggie! Auggie! And he many so people proud. And my conclusion is always be yourself and try hard to gain trust and loyalty from your friends you can be amazing just try your hardest.

Auggie was trying his hardest but what he didn’t know is it was happening so fast he couldn’t see it.Thanks you for sticking around this whole time listing to me ramble on about Auggie and how to be yourself. I hope you enjoyed reading this took me a whole 10 minutes to write so thank you 🙂

BLOG #10 Why is Auggie Deserving of this Medal

I think he deserves this medal because he has bravery and courage. Auggie doesn’t give up and tries to make other people not give up. Most of the time he doesn’t care about what people say about him. He had bravery to go to school and stood up against the Grade 7s. He cares about people around him, he cared about Jack when Julian made everyone against him and he cared about his Dad when Daisy died. If people see his bravery then they would be nicer to him because people think that he is not brave because of his face. Like when he was brave against the Grade 7s everyone was nice to him. Auggie is a good friend and that’s what I think he deserves that medal

Blog#7 How are Auggie and Via wiser beyond their years.

I think Via is a bit wiser than Auggie because she’s an independent thinker. She makes her own choices and doesn’t care what others think of her, when Miranda dyed her hair pink she didn’t care , she didn’t get jealous, she didn’t change herself to be their type of friend.

When Miranda’s mom came to pick her up she didn’t choose to go with them and she took the subway, and because of that it really showed that she makes chooses she wants for her. Because she didn’t want to be friends with people like that, she also thought it was best for her.

Auggie doesn’t give up but when his first friend in the school said mean stuff about him he didn’t want to go back to school, but via encouraged him to not care about it and go back and there is always other people that will love to be friends with you.

Why I think Jack didn’t mean it is because maybe he didn’t want Julian to think that he hangs out with Auggie and maybe Julian might’ve thought that jack had the cheese touch.

I also think why Auggie doesn’t want to go back to school is because Julian made the cheese touch about him, and if jack still didn’t say those things Auggie might’ve still been upset.

Blog#9: Jack’s Perspective – Karylle

“Now here is my secret. It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye” – Antoine de Saint Exupéry

Jack is August’s best friend, but it was hard for him because him being friends with August affects his reputation. Jack was still there for August, besides his mistakes, he is still a good friend. In my opinion, this is what the quote is about. “It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly

I believe that this quote suits Jack’s section very well, because it fits the situation that’s between August and him, as in their friendship with one another. The “One’s Heart” could be possibly representing Jack. Jack sees clearly that August could be a good friend, a friend who always got your back and have a sense of humor. Jack has a heart, unlike Julian.

Near the beginning in the school year, he was “forced” to be friends with August. He declined the request that Mr.Tushman asked him, the invitation where he was suppose to show August around the school with Charlotte, and Julian. But then, Jack felt bad for him because his younger sibling was being rude to August, by calling him a “zombie.”
So Jack decided to tag along with August. He was supposedly to hang around August just to accompany him so August has someone to help him and chat with him. But he started to realize that he actually enjoyed staying with him, and that August was a great friend, and that people should give him a chance, like he did.

Jack gave August a chance, and it was worth it. He saw clearly that August was a nice, caring and friendly person. Jack has the heart to be friends with him, he stood up for him against Julian a few times in the past. That’s how I think the quote fits Jack. The invisible key was an item wasn’t anything physical. All it took was a few words, and spending time with a little while, just to realize how worth it was. In the end, Jack was one of the best friends that August could ever have.

Blog #7 How Is Via Wiser Beyond Her Years

Via has become wiser beyond her years Via has become wiser beyond her years because she is understanding, insightful, and an independent thinker. For example she makes her own decisions like when she took the New York train because she didn’t want to go with Miranda, and that takes a lot of courage for a teenager her age.

She is understanding because when she has a problem, for example at school, and she wants to talk to her mom, although the school called because Auggie was feeling sick and her mom had to go and pick him up, she remembered that there is bigger problems with Auggie. She thought to herself that her problems are petty and that she can wait until Auggies problems are solved even though it might take a while

She is selfless and he knows what Auggie likes and what can cheer him up, for example when Auggie was not feeling well on the day of Halloween. She was not feeling well either but she knew that Auggies favorite holiday was Halloween, so she cheered him up to go to the Halloween parade.

ause she is understanding, insightful, and an independent thinker. For example she makes her own decisions like when she took the New York train because she didn’t want to go with Miranda, and that takes a lot of courage for a teenager her age.

Blog#9 Jack’s Perspective

“Now here is my secret. It is only with one’s heart one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” –Antoine de Saint-Exupry.

I think that his quote is at the beginning of Jack’s perspective because he wanted to be friends with Auggie, but at the same time he wanted to be cool and popular. Basically be with the cool kids or something.

What I think this quote means to say is that no one is perfect, people come in different shapes and sizes. I also think that it means not everyone can see someone the way you see them. But we humans are just so quick to judge. But it is part of our nature. I have an example that I have for you today. One of my classmates asked me last night, “How come you don’t like (blank)?” Then I said, “It’s not that I don’t like him, it’s just because he was mean to me before. I didn’t like him not because of the way he looked, I didn’t like him because he was pretty violent. Jack knows how Auggie was being treated by Julian. All that people see when they look at Auggie is a monster, an alien. But if they only gave him a chance to speak, he’d be the funniest, kindest, loyalist person they could have. If we as humans just didn’t care about how each and every one of us looked, there would be no racism or sexism in the world. Auggie tries hard to impress the people in his school, when he really shouldn’t. We’ve all looked at someone and at least thought. “Wow, he/she is really ugly.” Or something like that. Don’t lie you haven’t done it before. But even though we do these things, we must be mindful for these things that we as humans say thoughtlessly. It could scar someone for life.

At the beginning of the quote, “Now here is my secret.” As I said, Jack wanted to be with the popular group but at the same time he wanted to be friends with Auggie. Which plays as his secret. How you may ask? Well, its Jack’s secret because he never told anyone. When Julian bullied Auggie, all Jack did was watch. But he sometimes stepped in and gave poor Auggie a hand. But at some point of Jack’s perspective, he says he doesn’t want to be Julian’s friend anymore.

This is why I think that this quote was at the beginning of Jack’s Perspective. “My life is full because I know that I am loved!” –Joseph Carey Merrick.

Blog#7 How Olivia and Auggie are Wiser beyond their Years

Via is jealous?! No surprise there. I know how she feels, I too have a little brother named Nicco. He had cancer, and a lot of surgeries. I guess that’s how August and Nicco are sort of alike. Olivia and I are the oldest, which means we have more responsibility and more is expected from us.

Olivia understands that Auggie has been through a lot but at the same time she also feels jealous of him because we all need and want some attention once in a while.

When Nicco was still taking his liquid medicine, he would always cry and have a tantrum because it tasted bad. My dad would get mad because he wouldn’t listen. My dad has been taking care of Nicco and I for a long time. If my dad didn’t take care of Nicco, he would have died. My brother owes his life to our dad. Because my dad was so busy taking care of us, he now doesn’t have a job and my mom is the only one that works. Nicco complains that my parents are too strict, but he deserves it.

Via and I are alike because we both have little brothers that have some sort of illness. They’ve both been in a lot of surgeries and survived.

Via and Auggie are wiser beyond their years because they have both been through a lot and know that anytime something bad might happen to one of them. Life is too short to be selfish. Via has trouble with school, and Auggie has trouble with how she looks. Via knows that her parents are too busy to deal with what she wants, so she does it by herself. That’s why she’s so independent. Auggie is wiser beyond his years because he has felt a lot of pain, well we all have. He knows if he puts himself out there, he’ll get made fun of. So he hides himself and is more cautious of what he does.

This is why I think how Olivia and August are wiser beyond their years. “I won’t describe what I look like. But whatever you’re thinking about, it’s probably worse.” –Wonder by R.J Palacio.

Jack’s Perspective Blog #9

Maybe Jack’s quote is explaining the way that he sees Auggie, that it doesn’t matter what he looks like, there’s more that meets the eye ,Henry and his friends kind of understand why Jack is Auggie’s friend.

In the beginning of Jack’s perspective he doesn’t seem very excited to meet Auggie but when he got to know Auggie he saw his personality and he started to really like Auggie that it came to a point that Jack didn’t see him as a kid that was born with a deformed face he saw him as a friend, that’s why i think the quote says “It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly.”

My classmates, and my teacher are reading about when they went to camp and they meet some  mean kids Jack really cares about Auggie i mean he stood up for him,he talked to those way older kids and tolled them to not mess with Auggie and him, when Auggie was crying he hugged him and called him “dude” like everyone else.

In my opinion we will see a lot more kind actions from Jack ,we all know that Jack is a really kind, nice, helpful, caring friend to Auggie and others so when we continue reading the book we will see that he is a good friend he is .
