I think Auggie has this laugh/cry feeling because maybe he is still thinking about Mr.Tushman’s funny name and Julian hurt Auggie’s feelings and he wants to cry or maybe he sees Jack as a friend because he is nice to him. I think this is why Auggie has this laugh/cry feeling.

I think that Mr. Brown’s October precept is very important to Auggie because he thinks “Your deeds are your monuments” is very important because he thinks that is how people should view him. Instead of focusing on how he looks, they should focus on what he does, because people gossip about him, talk behind his back, and make fun of him. If people focused on what people did, not what they looked like, they would find out that Auggie is very kind, caring, and trustworthy, so Auggie would have lots of friends and would be very popular. But people can’t see past his face. Auggie thinks that what you do is more important than what you look like, and what you say, and I agree with him!

Auggie thinks Mr.Brown’s October precept “Your deeds are your monuments” is important because people treat him differently based on his looks and he thinks that people should be treated differently because of their actions not their looks. The monuments are not just made of stone they are also made of memories of the actions the person did. I think this is why Auggie thinks this is important.

It was a Halloween night when I and a few of my friends were going trick or treating. I dressed up as a killer clown my close friend Kianaz was a witch and one of my other close friends Elina was a zombie. Elina had a hand band with a fake knife through it and when she put it on it looked like there was a knife through her head. I had fake knife with fake blood in it. We went to a lot of houses and one of the house was really old and sketchy but we knocked on the door anyway. When we knocked the door cracked open and the wind pushed the door open the rest of the way but nobody seemed to be there. Although we heard voices coming from down the hall. We decided to step inside to see if anybody was around to give us candy because we were having a contest to see who could get the most candy. We could barely hear what they were saying but all of a sudden we heard someone say “murder.” All that came to our mind was to run out of the house but I decided to stay. Then I heard footsteps coming closer and closer, that’s when I thought I should run. As I turned to run out the door a tall man wearing all black clothes with a knife came towards me and there were killer clowns behind him. Right before my eyes the door slammed shut. The man in black grabbed me and said “give me all your candy! I have no more to give out!” Then, I slowly stepped backwards and said “okay…” and I gave him all my candy.

I had a small talk and he told me that was his costume, he was a murderer with killer clown friends to scare the trick or treaters. Then I said then why did I hear you say “murder” and he told me it was because they were talking about his costume. Then I left and found my friends shocked because they were looking for me the whole time.

I think that August thinks the October precept is important is because he think doesn’t care what someone looks like. He someone’s actions are more important. This is because August’s face doesn’t like all the kids, and in his life, he is a very good kids but some kids don’t want to be friend with him because his face. When is Halloween he very happy is because no one will know he is August because he is wearing a mask. At first time he went to school, he met three kids.

On Halloween night, I hear the sound of little kids saying “Trick or treat!” and sometimes the piercing screams when they got scared by the adults. It was a pitch black night and the stars were shining bright, like beacons in the night. The sweet smell of caramel, chocolates and other sweet treats wafting through the air. The children laughing when they saw each other’s bright, flashy costumes. The houses were glowing with all the bright lights and jack o ‘lanterns smiling evil grins. Cobwebs and fake spiders and skeletons lying on yards and hanging on webs. People popping out of trapdoors and holes and scaring others. This is what happens on Halloween night.

Today is Day of the Dead! or Día de los Muertos

The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.

Div.4 news:

• Nov 4 – we walk to Central Park in the afternoon (12:30-2:30) and will go RAIN or SHINE, so please DRESS FOR THE WEATHER. That means raincoat and rubber boots if it’s raining. Hiking boots/shoes or otherwise sturdy footwear is required. 
• Nov 11 – Remembrance Day (no school)
• Nov 21 – Young People’s Concert (our first one). We walk, so please come prepared for weather.

Please remember this Wednesday we’ll be visiting the Pumpkin Patch (right here at Maywood Community) and in the afternoon, we’ll be carving our pumpkins. I’d be happy to have any parent volunteers join us!
