I think Auggie deserves this medal because he showed a lot of bravery and courage. He showed a lot of bravery and courage because when he went to the nature retreat there were these 7th graders who were picking on August but August didn’t care about older people picking on him. They were pushing him and making fun of him but he stood his ground and he stood his ground and he stood up for himself and Jack. After this incident Auggie’s life completely changed, everyone accepted him because of the incident that happened, people thought he was really brave because he proved others wrong and stood up for himself and the others, he proved others wrong because he showed others that he can do the same things others do with a facial disorder, he might even do things better than others do.

The quote Mr. Tushman said was, “Greatness lies not in being strong but in the right use of strength. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts. He is the greatest whose heart carries the most hearts by the attraction of its own.”

The award is called the Henry Ward Beecher medal. Auggie is really deserving of this award because he never gave up and he earned everyone’s respect even when he gets neglected and bullied. He keeps going and he eventually found someone not because of how he looks but because of the bravery and perseverance he showed towards others.

The way Auggie effects other people’s lives is truly amazing because sometimes people without a facial disorder can’t even change someone but can you imagine a guy with that kind of disorder change a bunch of people’s lives in a positive way, He really does deserve this medal.
