I think that August(Auggie) is feeling scared, sad, embarrassed, shy, nervous, worried, and mad right now because his mom had only told him that they were going to meet Mr. Tushman, but she forgot to tell him all the important details, like that he had to go on a tour of the school with Jack, Julian, and Charlotte. Also, I think that Auggie is feeling sad, worried, and embarrassed because Jack, Julian, and Charlotte aren’t even looking at him, and Julian is making fun of him (Auggie) by pretending that Auggie doesn’t even know what an eraser is. Julian is also rudely asking Auggie, What’s wrong with your face.” I think that Auggie might be nervous because he’s thinking that this is how the kids at his new school will treat him, which is not a good thing because he’s probably already shy, after all ,anyone would be shy if they were at a new school, but it would be worse if the kids kept on teasing him.
I think that Auggie had that laugh/cry feeling because he was about to cry, but then Jack smiled at him and said, “It’s okay, Julian is a jerk,’’ so Auggie smiled at him , because he didn’t want Jack to see him cry and he’s probably thinking that Jack is trying to make him feel better.
