I think that August(Auggie) is feeling scared, sad, embarrassed, shy, nervous, worried, and mad right now because his mom had only told him that they were going to meet Mr. Tushman, but she forgot to tell him all the important details, like that he had to go on a tour of the school with Jack, Julian, and Charlotte. Also, I think that Auggie is feeling sad, worried, and embarrassed because Jack, Julian, and Charlotte aren’t even looking at him, and Julian is making fun of him (Auggie) by pretending that Auggie doesn’t even know what an eraser is. Julian is also rudely asking Auggie, What’s wrong with your face.” I think that Auggie might be nervous because he’s thinking that this is how the kids at his new school will treat him, which is not a good thing because he’s probably already shy, after all ,anyone would be shy if they were at a new school, but it would be worse if the kids kept on teasing him.

I think that Auggie had that laugh/cry feeling because he was about to cry, but then Jack smiled at him and said, “It’s okay, Julian is a jerk,’’ so Auggie smiled at him , because he didn’t want Jack to see him cry and he’s probably thinking that Jack is trying to make him feel better.

August’s feeling sad because he cares of what people think I know because he is looking down, always blue and he is not really talking to the people around him, he also might be feeling down because of what Julian said but feeling happy because Jack is being kind of looking at him like he is daring him to look and that’s how he got a laughing\cry feeling and I think his a really strong boy. The fact that he actually wanted to go to school and try something new is incredible and if I put yourself in his shoes I think I wouldn’t make it like he did.

It’s Auggies first time going to this new school and meeting two new teachers and three odd students. Who wouldn’t be scared? August also has a facial deformity that makes him feel uncomfortable around other adults and kids. It also gives him a hard time making friends.

When August gets to his new school with his mom, he meets the Principal Mr.Tushman, and the Vice Principal. Later on Mr.Tushman introduces three students that will be in the same homeroom as August.

As they give Auggie a tour around the school, Auggie barely even looks up at them and he notices that one of them acts as if he doesn’t like Auggie.

I think Auggie has this laugh/crying felling because he is very sensitive. He cares what other people think! He doesn’t want other people to see him cry so he feels the urge to force a laugh.

So this is why I think that August has this laugh/crying feeling.

I think August is almost cry, but also want to laugh. Because he still scared of school, he is complete sad for sure.

But Jack is friendly, he make funny jokes to him that make August laugh. He turned sad to laughing.

I think why he’s feeling nervous about school is because he’s scared of what others will think of him because of his face and surgeries, his other feeling is scared because he might be scared of getting bullied for how he looks like. Auggie’s laugh/cry feeling was when Julian said what’s the point of your face is where u like in a fire or something, his feelings got hurt and he felt like crying but he wanted to laugh at the same time, but why? Maybe it hurt him but he didn’t want to cry because he found it embarrassing to cry in front of them so he had this feeling he should just let it slide and not care about what others think.

He was felling sad/laugh/cry and mad because MR.Tushman have 3 students they name is Jack, Julian and Charlotte, next Auggie comes to his new school and Mr.Tushman tell his students to tell Auggie about school but Julian was says bad word Jack say it’s ok and he said Julian is a jerk so I think it make Auggie a little bit cry / laugh and mad.

I think Auggie was feeling a little down because maybe he didn’t want anyone to know he was sad or he just didn’t know to be sad, mad or he was just pretending he didn’t know. He wants to go to his first school because he’s just trying it out for the first time.

Auggie is going to school! But how does he feel or think about the current position that he is in? I think he’s feeling a little uncomfortable because it’s kind of forced. What evidence do I have to back it up? Constant times he doesn’t want to make contact with anybody. Probably he doesn’t want the other people to make fun of him. The students Jack, Julian and Charlotte don’t make that much proper contact with August either. Auggie could get the idea that they don’t like him and can get quite uncomfortable around them.

For the crying and laughing feeling, probably his discomfort took the best off him and felt like crying. But, he laughs. I have two ideas of what is going with him. One is that he decides to hide the fact he feels like crying, so he laughs (nervously) like nothing ABSOLUTELY happened. For example he ‘laughs’ away his problem.

My second assumption is that August is laughing at himself. For instance the problem is so sad but it turns funny that you just CAN’T stop laughing. My experience is once I fell down and I started crying, yet I was laughing. “I feel sad but it’s so funny!” I mean, best way to get rid of pain and sadness is doing the opposite, right?

I think that Auggie is trying to hide his feeling, he really felt sad, but tried to feel better so he tried thinking of funny/happy memory. Maybe he was thinking of Mr. Tushman AND Ms. Butt should go on a date or another funny memory that made him laugh even though he his upset.
