The Giver Dead or Alive

I think Jonas is dead because as he keeps going on the landscape changes in to something more natural and the world changes into the world before sameness, which was the world Jonas wanted to live in. this could mean he is already dead and his soul is living the life he wanted to live because the giver said the whole world chose to go into sameness which means there couldn’t have heard people singing or seen houses with Christmas lights and trees as if the whole world chose to go into sameness there wouldn’t be people who still have memories of things like love and colors. Also because the whole world chose to go into sameness the sled at the top of the hill would have been frozen and coved in snow and the rope would have been rotting and falling apart

Dead or Alive?

I think that Jonas is alive because he clearly states that he wants to save Gabriel from being released. On page 180, he says that he thinks he hears music; but The Giver never gave the memory of “hearing-beyond”. It must have been an echo, not the music of angels.

With the memories that The Giver gave him (the hill and love), were probably given to Jonas to assure that he will make his journey to Elsewhere (the real world).

On page 179, Jonas said he lost consciousness, but he forced himself to stay upright. The houses of that memory connect his dream (with the snow), the snow making him to have that urge to keep sliding down the hill. Some people think he is hallucinating because he hurt his knee, and is thinking about the memory. I don’t think that because on page 93, Jonas was asked to look at the sled, there was no Gabriel with him.

Jonas had the will to live, The Giver gave him memories of courage. On page 180 he said that he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him, and the baby. “They” could be another community waiting for Jonas.

In conclusion I think Jonas is alive!

“The Giver Dead or alive”

I think Jonas is alive because at the end of the book Jonas and Gabriel are going down the hill, he hears music but he’s never hear if music before so he’s hearing beyond. It could not have been a memory of his, because The Giver kept the memory of music. When Jonas and Gabe were freezing cold, Jonas decided to use his memory of sun and warmth to keep Gabe and himself warm.
He doesn’t have a lot of memory left but he has just enough memory to keep going, until he gets to elsewhere which I think is another community with love , colour , and feelings. In chapter twelve Jonas has a dream of him going down the hill on the sled and it says it seemed as if there was a destination where the thickness of snow brought the sled to a stop. It was welcoming , it was happened in the last chapter , when Jonas and Gabe were going down towards the destination , that was in his dream which I think is a new community that would take care of Gabe and Himself . The place he always felt was waiting.

Dead or Alive

I believe Jonas is alive because on page 179 it said “He forced his eyes open”, which means he would still be alive. Also The Giver said he loves Jonas, why would he send Jonas to death. I think the elsewhere is where there is music because it said on page 180 “he heard people singing”. Also why would Jonas bring Gabe if they would die? Why would he take Gabe through all that starvation and pain when Gabe could just be released?

Jonas had so much courage to get to the elsewhere why would he want to go to death. I think the end music is from a nearby community. On page 178 it said “His heat surged with hope” which means if your heart is still functioning you are alive. If you are dead you cannot hear music and Jonas heard music which means he is alive.

So I think overall Jonas is still alive because of these reasons.

Is Jonas…… Dead or Alive????

I think he is alive! Because on the hill he said he felt no pain. And with dying comes pain. So he would still be alive. Also he went to the house that was the same house in the memory the Giver gave him. So maybe not only did the Giver give him that memory because it was his favourite. But maybe he wanted Jonas to know that the house is a safe spot to go if he ever wanted to escape. And the Giver didn’t give him that memory with Gabe in it. And a lot of people are saying that he is dreaming or hallucinating. But if he was then why is Gabe there? Even in the book it said: Jonas willed himself to stay awake. It also said his mind was alert. If he was dead he wouldn’t feel like that.

And lastly the dead group was saying that the house and hill were heaven. But if you were dead you wouldn’t be able to give memories. But how would the Giver know about the hill and the house if it was heaven? Because the Giver is alive. And whatever Giver that gave him the memory had to be alive to do it. So the house and hill are not heaven because is the Giver that passed down that memory was dead, then how would he do it. So I think that Jonas and Gabriel are alive!

The Giver (Dead) or Alive

As Jonas saw the sled it means that it was the end for Jonas and Gabriel since they’re dying of hunger and dying of the cold mountain also when the giver sent Jonas away the giver though he never knew that Jonas would maybe die while looking for the new community.

Jonas has heard the angle sang while Jonas Sid down the deadly hill.

The giver (Dead or alive)

Giver Dead or Alive

Jonas is probably alive. Because he had the ability to see and hear beyond, I think Jonas was able to actually hear the music which I believe to be real. I think this because if you are dead you can’t hear, see or feel anything. Some people said he is hallucinating on the other team and said he was dead if u were dead you can’t see or hear anything in a distance or close at all.

He is maybe alive and getting a new mem0ry or just upgrading an old one to see what it is like to live that memory in real life, to ride a sled down a hill with snow. In the dream it said he saw lights too, and he saw lights in real life after going down the slide, so maybe the house was in both real life and the dream life. Maybe that’s the elsewhere the community has not liked because it had Grandparents, fire, presents and snow, and these things represent dangerous or inconvenient things for the community. This new community probably has knowledge of other stuff probably like war, grandparents and fire, and this would not be welcome knowledge in the old community. I believe that Jonas is on his way to a new community

The Giver “Dead”

I think that Jonas is dead, because on the other side of the hill I think it is Elsewhere (heaven). Jonas escaped the community because he and the Giver wanted the people to feel and/or have emotions and feelings. In generations back it never happened, but in the memories “it has not always been” like that. They think it’s possible that the community will always and forever have memories/feelings. The Giver always thought that it was hopeless, but Jonas made him think differently. When Rosemary was released, all her memories were given to the community. That’s why I think Jonas will go to heaven (die), than his memories will be released to the community. But the Giver will help them control it, and hopefully help them keep it (memories and feelings). Jonas brought Gabriel with him, because Gabriel was being scheduled for release and Jonas cared for him. I know that Jonas bringing Gabriel to heaven still means that Gabriel will be dead. But I think Jonas wanted to spend his last moments with him. Jonas didn’t regret on going to Elsewhere, because he said that if he stayed in the community, his life wouldn’t be worth living. Towards the end of their journey, Jonas felt memories of joy, and got a memory of his own, that he knew he could keep. Jonas and Gabriel were about to enter Elsewhere! They heard music and saw lights, someone or something was singing. I think the angels were calling them. Gabriel’s name means “messenger of God”, so I thought that could also mean angel. So I thought since Jonas has been caring for Gabriel so much, Gabriel wanted to return the favour by bringing Jonas to heaven. That’s why I think Jonas died, but in a happy way by going to heaven with Gabriel.

The Giver: Dead or Alive

I think Jonas is alive because he didn’t take pills for his stirrings so all of this might be just a dream. Also if it was actually happening he wouldn’t have taken Gabe to Elsewhere if it was heaven. Jonas loved Gabe so much that he wouldn’t risk Gabe’s life. If Jonas was dead all of his memories will be released to the community but he could still share the memory of warmth with Gabriel, so I think Jonas is not dead.

The Giver told Jonas that he had the ability to see beyond so maybe when Jonas felt he reached his destination I think he saw beyond his future of finding a new community that was the Elsewhere The Giver and Jonas thought existed. After they ran out of food Jonas thought they would starve to death, but he loved Gabriel so much he didn’t want to give up and he had the will to live. Also his mind was alerted when he felt like he found the Elsewhere, if he was dead he wouldn’t feel anything.
