Match Maker (The Giver)

Partner A talk for the match maker.

I would be matched by a elder because they know more about life and who would be a good match with this person and I think that the elders well know better matches. And rather then we match our self’s it would be better of being matched by a elder than a younger person.

Ah-ha moment

I had an “ah-ha” moment when I learned how the stirrings kind of work. My (new) thoughts are about why the “government” doesn’t want people or the community to have stirrings or what will happen if Jonas or anyone else keeps their stirrings, also maybe the “government” doesn’t want stirrings because it can cause a lot of problems in there community and you get a special power or ability to see what happened in the past and what will happen on the future.

Match Maker

I wouldn’t like to be matched by the elders, because I think it’s too forced. This is another way, the community is trying to make everything perfect, but it’s too much. They’re forcing you to be with someone for the rest of your life. You should have the choice to be with someone you want to be with for eternity. Well up until you get released. This community is filled with a bunch of non-feeling robots. Even when, you’re being forced to marry someone. You will never have affection for them, because of the pills you have to take. That stop you from having stirrings/feelings. Even though I would have no feelings in this community. I still wouldn’t like to be matched.

Age of Ceremonies

The ceremony of two for me is when I started to walk for the first time ever. I chose this age because it was so amazing to get on two feet and walk without having to crawl and get dirty. I still remember the extraordinary feeling when I walked to my mom with a big smile on my face, so maybe the ceremony of two could be getting silver shoes.

The ceremony of four for me would be when I started to eat without anyone’s help. I chose this age because I felt like I was at the top of the world and I was becoming older, growing up, being a big girl, all those feelings were wonderful and awesome, also it was nice to finally eat by yourself. Maybe the ceremony of four could be when you get a golden spoon.

The ceremony of seven for me could be when I started to tie my shoes. I chose this age because my heart was filled with happiness and it was so blissful for not always using Velcro shoes, also I would always have to wait for someone to tie my shoes and it would waste so much time, so maybe the ceremony of seven could be when you get special shoe laces that would tie themselves.

The Cover Prediction

I think that maybe The Giver is about an old man who has no family and lives in the forest alone and some sort of an accident happened in the forest. Also The Giver might give people what they really want and make some of their wishes come true because on the book cover it shows a man with a long beard with wrinkles on his face and it shows a forest that has a little ripped part and maybe the ripped part means there was an accident or something scary happened.

age ceremony

Age of 0

At the age of 0 I was born the date was February 18 2002. I was born in Mexico Zamora Michoacán. This is the number 1 thing that happened to me because if I was never born none of the awesome thing would have happed to me would have never happened to me. My parents named me Hector. At the age of 0 I gained life.

Age of 3

When I was 3 my brother was born he was born in October 25 2005. My family decided to name him Derek, this is the second best thing that has happened to me because if not I would not have had as much excitement in my life if he was never born. At the age of 3 I gained a brother.

Age of 6

At the age of 6 I came to Canada. The date was October 18 2008. If I had never came to Canada I would have never met people I know now and gone through life changing experiences like learning to speak English. At the age of 6 I gained a new life.

Gabriel’s Pale Eyes

In Chapter 4 we came across a new member; Gabriel. We found out that he has pale eyes, just like Jonas! In Jonas’ community everyone’s eyes are brown. This got me thinking… Maybe they are from the same birthmother? I think that in the future Jonas will be released and Gabriel will have to save him, or maybe the other way around. I think this because in their community you are only allowed to have one girl and one boy, but they will have two boys! Who knows… They could be brothers…

Freedom of choice

The time when I had anxiety of the freedom of choice would be when I go to restaurants, sweet factories or any food courts. Then I would have to choose what to eat, what to get, which flavours do I pick/want, do I want this or that etc. and when that happens it gives me anxiety and I get a weird feeling my head. A good example is one day I went to one of my favourite restaurants and my mom gave me two choices: one is Mongolian lamb and the other is Chow Mein noodles (and both of the choices are delicious). I really wanted Mongolian lamb, but then I also wanted Chow Mein noodles, my mom kept on telling me to hurry up, but I didn’t know what to choose and was just totally stressing out. I told my mom to just pick because I started to get a headache, and I think the waiter was getting annoyed so my mom just picked Mongolian lamb.

My Cover Prediction (The Giver)

I think that the old man on the cover is the giver and he lives in the forest because there was a picture of a forest right beside the picture of the old man. And the old man gives peace to the place because the place is a strict place and the giver makes the place peaceful by giving stuff to people that can’t afford it and saves the place out of the strict stuff..

“Pale” eyes prediction

Gabriel’s pale eyes could maybe mean that he is somehow related to Jonas. I predict that because in The Giver it is rare to have different coloured eyes then the rest of the people, or maybe Gabriel and Jonas have or come from the same birth mother. Also I think that they have strange abilities or powers because in the book when Jonas threw the apple to his friend he saw the apple change colours and he asked his friend if he saw the apple change colours, but the friend didn’t know what he was talking about and it got me thinking that maybe some people who have a different coloured eye have strange powers or abilities.
