“Music can open doors to unimaginable things. Without it, where would we be?” By Ilyssa
“Music is a language like no other. It gives you hope.” By Alex
“You can understand one another by expressing yourself through music.” By Wesley
A couple of weeks ago, the students of Division One had the opportunity to celebrate the importance of music at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. The event, sponsored by MusiCounts, announced the launch of the 2012-2013 Band Aid Grant applications for music education. Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley, shared stories about the importance of youth, music and charity. Juno award winner, Dan Mangan, also came out to perform and speak about the power of music. As a surprise, the schools in attendance received a $1000 gift card to Future Shop to go toward the purchase of musical instruments and each student received a gift of House of Marley ear-buds! What a fabulous and uplifting morning! Our students have written some thought provoking quotes about music. I will include some of them in my next post.
