We’ve had a great start to our year despite a week late.
TREES STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF LIFE: We have immersed ourselves back into our classroom inquiry, “What stories do the trees tell us?” We began the winter season with considering the Night Life of Trees. We referenced a book with original art by Ram Singh Urveti, Bhajju Shyam and Durga Bai. Each page of the book has artwork that is silk-screened by hand on black paper. We decided to create our own images on black paper.
DASH OF CREATIVITY AND A SPRINKLE OF CONFIDENCE: We have considered our intentions for the year and made some goals for 2022!. Smart Cookie helped remind us that we are all on our own personal learning journeys and we can share our knowledge in many ways. We decided to create our own Smart Cookie world in class.
WORDS OF HOPE, PEACE AND JUSTICE: Ms. Hossack shared with us the story of Martin Luther King, Jr. We continued our learning and understanding of the peaceful message and movement that he began. We considered all of the ways we could celebrate diversity and invite respect into our classroom and community. Check out our Black Shirts and our messages of freedom.
WE’VE GOT MAIL!: With travel not really an option at this time, we considered our winter break and the many amazing opportunities we had with our families. We created postcards of our time. We then invited other classes to send us postcards. We are getting so much mail. It is wonderful to read all about the real and imaginary travels that Clinton students have been on.
We wish you all a very happy new year as we also move forward into the Year of the Water Tiger!
