Tips for parents and educators are under the ‘Mental Wellness’ menu and on ‘Tips for Educators’ tab under Mental Wellness. However at times additional support is needed. Below are some community organizations that cover many areas of mental wellness:
Kelty Mental Health – Kelty Mental Health helps families, listens to concerns, and connects families to resources and tools.
BounceBack is a free skill-building program designed to help adults and youth 15 years old and older manage low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress or worry.
Children and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) – Children and Youth Mental health are providing counselling support. Please check the link to find services in your area.
Cameray Child and Family Services – Cameray provides counselling to children and youth, support to children and youth that are victims of a crime or witnessed a crime, and support for parents with children 5 years old or younger.
St. Leonard’s Youth and Family Services – St. Leonard’s offers counselling and support to youth and young parents, residential services for youths, and a family development program.
Foundry – The Foundry offers youth 12 to 24 years old resources, services, counselling, and support.
OTHER OPTIONS:
Private Counsellors and Psychologists: Parents may want to explore private counselors or private psychologists. These services have a fee, and some extended health insurers covers some or all fees. Please inquire with your extended health insurance provider for more information.
The student’s doctor: Doctors are offering services by telephone and in person if needed. Doctors could examine medical concerns, provide additional information and answer some questions regarding normal development, a student’s well-being and expected behaviors, and other concerns.
