Ms. Daneshwand – Div. 7

Jan 24 – 28

Posted on January 24, 2022January 28, 2022

Hello Division 7,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. This weekend (and week), the forecast predicted lots of sunshine! However, what it doesn’t show on the weather forecast is that we are experiencing an inversion (watch video). This means that instead of having warmer air closer to the earth’s ground and cooler as you go higher up (such as on a mountain), it is actually warmer on top of the mountain than it is at sea level (where we live). The photo is above was from my Sunday spent on Grouse Mountain. You can watch a live camera (here) to see what it’s like on Grouse Mountain in real time. You can also check in on the hibernating Grizzly Bears (Coola and Grinder).

Math
We have our math test on Monday to end our multiplication unit and we will be starting our unit on division Tuesday.

Science
It looks like the fog is covering up the moon for us this week; if you are unable to see the moon, please search “moon phase today” on Google; Moon Giant seems to be an easy website to navigate. Be sure to indicate that it was too foggy to see the moon (and source that you checked online).

Literacy
We received our Literature Circle novels last week; we did a gallery walk to see which books we feel are appropriate for our reading level (using the 5 finger rule) and interesting for us.

Social Studies
We will be investigating first contact between European explorers and the First People of the land.
