Good morning Division 7,
I hope you all enjoyed your three-day weekend. During the Pro-d Day, I got to learn a little bit more about blog technology, the power of story, and loneliness.
It was overwhelming to learn from a screen for so many hours — it made me reflect on how each of your daily learning experience has shifted so drastically. I am so inspired by each of you and your families for your dedication, hard work and resilience during this shift. It is no easy task but each of you are doing a wonderful job and I absolutely love seeing the work, messages and updates you all send.

e.) Genius Hour
Most of you may recall Genius Hour.
Please focus on a topic that you are curious or passionate about to focus your research on.
Refer to this planning sheet: Genius Hour Planning Sheet
Follow these steps:
Brainstorm – what topics interest you? Write down topics that interest you (e.g. birds, palm trees, global warming, Jupiter, etc…). Select one to focus on this week.
Question – What deep questions do you wish to explore on your topic? (e.g. how do birds fly?)
Research – How are you going to find answers to your questions? With limited variety of resources, it will likely be online or an interview with an “expert” on the topic (perhaps family/friends).
Present – How are you going to share your knowledge? Please come up with a a way to briefly present your project. This may be through a speech, slideshow, poster, poem, comic, video, song, etc.
Share – Practice your presentation and share — either to me, family/friends, to the class during Sharing Circle.
Please follow the following planning sheet to guide you through your planning and research.
f.) Makers – Imaginary School
If you finish early and wish to extend this project, please create a visual of your imaginary school.
Examples of ways to present can include:
- Online image (through scratch/illustration software)
- Diorama/shoebox/cardboard display
- Drawing
- Map
See you all at 11 am on Teams,
Ms. Daneshwand
Ms D – it’s Bill…Shea’s dad. Shea can’t be on the call today because his younger brother has a call with Ms Nanson at the same time. Is there some info you can pass on?
Hi Bill,
We went over our week plan as a class. Please let me know if he would like me to review the plan with him. We have Sharing Circle on Teams at 11 am on Friday.
Ms. Daneshwand
On Saturday I went on a family walk. I also played videogames with my brothers. On Sunday my dad got a bunch of groceries. I played videogames with my brothers while our dad was gone. Then my dad played badminton with me and my brothers and me. Yesterday I went to say hi to my cousins with my mom and brothers. When we got home we played videogames. 🚶🎮🏸
On the weekend I got Roblox because my mom let me have one more chance on the game. I got excited l play
Murder mystery and bee swarm simulator and a zombie apocalypse game
my weekend was fun because I got to play video games with my friends over the phone and I went outside for a few walks with my mom and I watched a lot of movies with her.
My weekend was wonderful! I got to go on a walk with some friends(we were physical distancing ) and we saw some cute chickadees that lived in one big stump. We saw them fly in and out of the tree stump. The chickadees surprisingly came very close to us. I named one of the chickadees Bob.
When we were on the field at the park my mom showed me what are puppy looks like. Are puppy is a male with really curly hair. The breeder pre-named the puppies so everyone could tell the difference between all the puppies. I was planning on naming are puppy Buddy or Charlie. I got so surprised when my mom told me that the breeder pre-named our puppy Buddy!😁Maybe I can share a photo of are puppy for our sharing circle
On the weekend, I went to my grandma’s house to eat lunch and did math with my dad. I had a great time at my grandma’s house until I have to do math. The reason why I do not like to do math with my dad is because I have to do grade 5/6 math and it is hard. Luckily if my dad sees me struggling he will help me. Sometimes I do it by myself and it becomes very hard. When we go to m grandma’s house and back we have to wear masks. Thank you.
On the weekend it was my moms birthday.
On her birthday we went on a ride in the car and my dad made a good breakfast😋. my dad got her a good gift and I felt happy because I did not have to do that much work.🎁📚😊.the next day we made our own bubble tea🍹and it was really good.
How was your weekend? Focus on feelings, experiences, and observations (the “inside story”).
My weekend was fine because I did online shopping but just looking at stuff and 8 more days till my birthday
On Saturday I played in my back yard. on Sunday I did gardening and pressure washing. on Monday I went for a bike ride. Every thing I did on my weekend I liked it.
I saw my cousins yesterday for a play date at my grandmas house 🏠. I extended my Lego sword and made a lego dagger for Karsten . We are riding our bikes 🚲 in the back yard on the bike bridge 🌉 in the afternoon. I feel tired after all that biking 🚴♀️ .
Over my weekend I did baking, I went to my grandma’s and grandpa’s house. I also went to my other grandpa’s house we are taking care of him because he is sick.
On the weekend I did homework because it’s hard to find time during the week because my parents work. I felt happy and sad. I’m happy to be home with family and do homework with them. Sad for not being at school. I observe that my mom is working hard and my cat Pumpkin is happy to be playing with us.
