Good morning Division 7,
Thank you for all the work you have been submitting to me. It is wonderful to view 🙂
To discuss:
- Pro-D Day – Mon. April 27
- Sharing Circle
- Learning Opportunities
1. Pro-D Day
On Monday, there will be no school. Teachers will be attending video conferences to develop more strategies for remote teaching/learning. Enjoy your three-day weekend.
2. Sharing Circle
We have our second Sharing Circle today at 11 am. Please access Microsoft Teams a few minutes early to make sure you are set-up. Please enter the call with your camera microphone on “mute” (click the camera and microphone button, it should have a line slashed through it).
Guidelines to note:
- Please be kind and respectful through out the entire call. We are all being vulnerable by sharing and attending the meeting.
- Please inform a parent/guardian about this video call. Be sure to ask for permission before joining.
If you need a refresher or have not yet viewed the video conferencing guidelines, please do so before our call: video conferencing (click)

a.) Morning Journal – Bouquets and Chocolates & Gratitude
Reflect on this past week: who would you give a bouquet and chocolate to? What are you grateful for?
- I would like to give a bouquet and chocolate to healthcare and essential workers for their commitment to keeping the community healthy.
- I am grateful for BC’s commitment to flattening and continuing to keep the COVID-19 curve flat.
- I am grateful for all the sunshine and mild weather we are experiencing.
b.) Reading
Read for at least 20 mins.
c.) Math
Khan Academy seems to be working for most of you. You may be working on a separate program at home which is more than OK. I have assigned the appropriate lessons on Khan Academy. If you are unable to access the assigned lessons, please view the “resources” tab for units we are covered. Please note that some of the lessons in the units are exempt as they are not required under the BC Curriculum. Please contact me for more information.
Alternative programs may include IXL, math worksheets, math games. Math is also everywhere — you may decide your math program is to identify everyday math (measuring while baking, estimating while planning, noticing patterns, finding “groups of”, etc.)
d.) Literacy*
Continue the “And the Moral of the Story is…” assignment.
morals_1 ( list of morals)
Fable (planning sheet)
I suggest you work on the sharing stage today.
- Please share your story with someone in your home or during Sharing Circle today.
e.) Art
As requested during Office Hours yesterday, today’s art will focus on plants.
On the last day of school before spring break, I made a silly mistake! I forgot to bring home our class plants!! I was thinking about them the entire break! Finally, after three weeks, I was able to access the classroom to pick some books up.
I greeted the plants and was a little bit concerned as they looked unwell and very thirsty.
Day one:
I was especially worried for the gold-potted plant.
However, immediately on day two, it started to perk-up just a little bit.
Day two:
I am proud to say that after three weeks, they are all recovering very well:
Week 3:
For art this week, please create an art project focusing on a plant of any kind. This can be a focus on their leaves, flowers, stem, bark, colours, etc. Please do not pick any plants off branches/soil for this project. Only collect pieces that are already fallen and, if possible, return them to where you found them when finished. I would love to see your finished work!
Ideas:
Nature art:
Mixed media:
Leaf rubbing:
Painting dandelions:
