Hello Division 8!
I’m so excited to hear what you chose to do for music yesterday? Did you practice singing ‘O Canada’ or did you listen to ‘Hymn of Freedom?’ Please let me know!
Did you know that songs are simply poems that an artist decided to sing? Go ahead, pick your favourite song, listen to the lyrics – What do you notice? Rhyme, rhythm, feelings, repeating lines, maybe?! Or maybe you just feel something that you love in the song!
A poem/song can make you feel a certain way. For example, anytime I hear the song ‘It’s a Beautiful World,’ by Louis Armstrong it makes me cry happy tears! It reminds me to look at the beauty around me already – my family, YOU, nature and it just warms my heart!
Your job today is to listen to one of your favourite songs. It doesn’t have to be in English! How does the song make you feel? Is there a part of the song that you love the most? Why? Please answer those questions in the reply section below!
For example: I love the song ‘It’s a Beautiful World,’ by Louis Armstrong because I also love seeing the beauty in the world around us. I especially love that he keeps repeating the words, ‘what a wonderful world.’
