Think outside the box Thursday

Good morning everyone! Happy almost Friday 🙂

Let’s get creative!

ART:

Using a black marker, write a large capital ‘J’ in the middle of your paper (do not include the top part). Now, turn it into a colourful picture! Get creative and remember I still need to see the original, black J when you are done.

JOURNAL:

I don’t know if you have ever helped do laundry, but sometimes a sock or two seems to go missing. My question for you is…

What are all the possible uses for that one lonely sock? You wouldn’t want to throw it out now would you?

WORD WORK:Your challenge is to find 10 words

Y R C A V E T I I T

MATH:

#1 The students were lining up for recess. The teacher lined them up one girl, then two boys, then one girl, and two boys. If there were twenty children in line, how many were girls?

#2 I see 10 flowers in my garden. The first flower is red, the second flower is blue, and the third flower is yellow. If this pattern continues, what colour is the 11th flower? The 15th flower?

#3 Gabby caught 63 fish on Tuesday. She threw 14 back because they were too small. On Wednesday she only caught 52 fish. How many did she keep from her fishing trip?

#4 Jason has a pet store with 24 turtles and 73 snakes. He sold 51 pets today during his sale. How many pets does he have left?

#5 I’m thinking of a 3 digit number. It is odd. The 10’s place is double the 1’s place. The 100’s place is double the 10’s place. What’s my number?

#6 If you skip count by 3 from 0, will you ever say 100? Why or why not?

REMINDER:Tomorrow I would like to see your recycled creations. I hope you remembered to make something.

  1. You could make a puppet with a lonely sock. Then you could make a whole puppet show! You could also do this (If you have a dog) you could put a squeaky thing used in dog toys in the sock.
    2. Stuff Cotten in the sock
    3. Sew the top of the sock up
    YOU HAVE A DOG TOY!!!
Note: if you have a dog who loves to kill toys (like mine) then just make sure it doesn’t rip it to shreds in a second
I have never done this before so if you don’t think this will work DONT DO IT

  2. MATH

    #1- 7 girls
    #2- blue-11th flower, yellow-15th flower
    #3- 63-14 =49, 49+52 = 101
    #4- 24+73 = 97, 97-51 = 46
#6 – you cannot say 100, you count by 3’s so after 99 is 102

  3. #2 Math

You said there are 10 flowers but you asked what the 11th flower is tell me if I’m wrong but here is my answer. Yellow

    1. This question was poorly written. My fault. Good job reading it so well! The 11th flower would have been blue and the 15th would be yellow.

  5. A possible use for a missing sock is you can use it for puppets because if you have a little sibling I think they would love to watch a puppet show! They would not know it was a sock if you decorated it with googly eyes! This is a great idea!

  10. JOURNAL

If I cannot find the other sock, then I would just cut the middle and ask someone to stitch the one with the hole, and then it could be my baby brothers sock. If I cannot find the other sock, for playing then I could just cut the bottom and it can turn into a sleeve for playing basketball or use it if your cold. If I cannot find the other sock, I can make the other sock a Lego people holder, so if my brother wants to play with my Lego, he could just grab it or ask me or someone else for the Lego to play with, also I could put small cars in there. If I lost one sock I could make the sock that I have into a candy holder, that can keep my candy somewhere else because my dad takes a lot of candy from my pack and I only get a few candy in the candy pack.

  11. I wouldn’t throw my sock out instead I would make it into a mask. I choose to make a mask because you can wash it and reuse it and besides you need to wear a mask when you go outside. Also these no sewing involved in making a sock mask (if you don’t know how to sew)☺. Here is how you make the a mask: so basically you cut your sock into 3 equal pieces take one of your pieces and cut one side. Then fold it in half on both sides cut about an inch wide but don’t cut all the way. This is going to go over your ears. After unfold the mask and there you have a sock mask. For the other pieces, you can make make a whiteboard eraser or you can make more masks.

    5)840
    6) 100 can not be divided by 3 because 100 is an even number

  12. Things that you can make out of a sock: You can make a sock puppet, a Christmas stocking, a bag, you can give it to your stuffy a sock to ware. You can wait for another lonely sock and pare then up. I wonder if a sock can be turned into a machine.
