Hi Everyone,

Today, we started off the day with a review for the Math Test. Students wrote down concepts that they need to study to be prepared for the Math Test tomorrow morning. They should also use their quiz to help them study. Then, they had time to study and practice on whiteboards concepts that they need practice with.

After that, we had snack and students went for music, then we stayed inside because it was raining for DPA.

After DPA, I had Grade 5’s writing a letter to Santa to apply to be part of his workshop. They had to write creatively about what job they would do and why they would be suitable for the role. While they were doing this, I recapped light energy with the Grade 4’s from yesterday and then had them work in partners to experiment with this light simulator: https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/bending-light/latest/bending-light_en.html

They were given a worksheet to fill out that challenged them to make things like the largest rainbow, most number of rainbows, etc. It was really fun and I captured some great pictures that I will put on Fresh Grade. They were so creative with it.

After lunch, students read and then a TOC came in. Grade 4’s worked on their lettersĀ  this time and Grade 5’s did a lesson with the teacher on screws and then experimented with materials to build inclined planes and levers again as a continuation from yesterday and to play with cause and effect.

At the very end of the day, students made more Christmas tree tessellations.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
