November Update

Hi Families,

Today I will be trying TEAMS out so don’t worry if it sends you any notifications.  I will let you know if/when you need to sign into it.  I might move over to teams as it has more features.

We have been working on:

Math:

  • place value (including adding and subtracting)
  • counting coins (which many students need to practice)

PE:

  • skipping
  • badminton
  • scoops

Science:

  • Matter and thermal energy
  • One way to discuss this at home is to discuss examples of convection/conduction/radiation while cooking or baking

Language Arts:

  • students created a monster character then wrote a story about him including beginning/middle/ending
  • students have been sharing their stories
  • we continue to work on speaking French in class and listening during instructions

Art:

  • we practiced elements of drawing
  • they learned to observe and recreate them through drawing one square at a time and then also to draw something upside down
  • created an art project in the style of Edvard Munch’s The Scream
  • created an art project of a poppy field using perspective (big poppies at the front and smaller ones at the back)

I sent a package of work home Friday for you to look at and discuss with your child.

Reminders:

  • No school Wednesday the 11th
  • Please send a sock with your child (to use to wipe white board)
