I hope you are all doing well! I wanted to reach out with some additional information regarding Student-Led Conferences and our Business Fair 🙂
Student-Led Conferences
By now, you should have received a Student-Led Conference form for May 7th. If you are joining us, you are welcome to come anytime between 3:00–5:00 PM. The full student-led checklist should take approximately 20 minutes to complete, so please keep in mind that if you plan to arrive later, we ask that you come no later than 4:40 PM.
The students have worked incredibly hard organizing their work and thoughtfully selecting important pieces to share with you. If you are unable to attend, the student-led booklet and work samples will be sent home instead.
Business Fair
Students have been asked to bring their display items tomorrow, as we will be setting up the gym at 2:30 PM. This will help Friday morning run smoothly!
On Friday, I have asked students to arrive by 8:50 AM so we can get an early start and organize anything we did not have a chance to finish the day before. The Business Fair will begin promptly at 9:15 AM, and classes will visit throughout the day until 2:10 PM.
Family Hour will run from 1:30–2:30 PM, followed by take-down from 2:30–3:00 PM. All display items and remaining products must go home that day. However, all money will remain at school and will be locked up securely over the weekend. On Monday, students will complete their calculations and bring home their float money, vendor loans, and any profits earned.
It is important to keep in mind that not all students will make a profit. And that is completely okay! I have reminded the students that this is meant to be a fun and valuable learning experience. Their profits will not impact their mark in any way, shape, or form.
If there are any display items that are especially large or heavy, you are more than welcome to bring them during Student-Led Conferences and help your child set them up in the gym.
