Hello everyone!
I hope everyone has had a fantastic long weekend. As the students are settling into the new school year I have started to slowly set student’s up with the technology accounts that we will be using throughout the year. These accounts are linked under “Educational Resources”.
Yesterday I sent each student home with a form that contains the sites we are using, how to access the sites, and the username and password they use for each. I have instructed them to put the form somewhere safe because they may need it in the near future. Each student should know how to use Typing.com and Microsoft 365/One Drive, as we have used both frequently in class over the past few weeks. Our next focus is going to be on our blogfolio’s (Spaces.edu)!
If you are looking for ways to enhance their digital literacy it would be a great idea if you could ask them to show you both their Microsoft/One Drive and typing accounts. They can even show you their recent paragraphs which is saved on their Microsoft/One Drive accounts. Another great way to enhance their digital literacy from home is to have them make PowerPoints on a topic of their choice so they can become more comfortable using the application, or to create documents on Word Doc.
As we begin to learn how to use our blogfolio’s and create our first few posts on it, an invite will be going out to each of you asking you to join the site. On your account you will be able to view your child’s work, as well as comment on it. This will be a great way for each of you to feel connected to what is going on inside our classroom each day!
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email me.
Ms. P
