Song For Courage – Courage Drum Song Lyrics

The Song for Courage was written by Cree-Dene artist from Little Red River Cree Nation, Sherryl Sewepagaham, to honour our grade 7 students transitioning into a bigger world.  We are bringing this song out now to offer strength and courage to all youth in Burnaby as they face moments of transition throughout their learning journey.  Artist’s biography: https://nac-cna.ca/en/bio/sherryl-sewepagaham

#1 Reading:

  • Raz-Kids will be available until July 6th so keep reading!
  • Have you registered for the BC Summer Reading Club yet?  The summer reading program usually available through the public library will be online this summer.  Please go to this link, BC Summer Reading Club website , to sign up and learn more about the program.  It has already started, so let’s go!
  • Burnaby Public Library – Log on to the Burnaby Public Library catalog!  You can choose some books to read over the summer, then reserve the books and do a paper bag pick up! Keep reading all summer long!

#2. Math: Please upload at least 3 math sheets from this week onto Teams

  • Grade 2’s: Today you will use a pictograph to read information. A pictograph is a graph which uses pictures to represent a number. Notice that on both worksheets today the picture represents 4 people. If you use half a picture it represents 2 people. Use the graph to answer the questions.    Worksheet 1    Worksheet 2
  • Grade 3’s: When using fractions, the bottom number (the denominator) represents the total number of pieces. It a circle is broken into 4 equal parts, the denominator would be a 4. The top number on a fraction represents the shaded or unshaded part of an object. If a circle has three parts shaded and 4 parts altogether, we would use the fraction 3/4 to represent what parts of the circle is shaded. We would then use the fraction 1/4 to represent the part that is not shaded. Watch this video and complete your assignment.   Worksheets 1, 2 & 3  If you would like to do some extra work on fractions over the summer, here are some additional sheets you can work on at your leisure.

#3. P.E.: Try one of more of these workout videos.

Have a wonderful and safe summer everyone!
