Caterpillar Update!

The caterpillars have grown a lot in the past week.  They started as a tiny egg and now have become grown caterpillars.  They have been eating a special diet consisting of mainly soy and wheat, with added vitamins and minerals which is seen in the bottom of the containers.

There are times when they are very active and times when they are quite still. Since it has been quite warm, the development of the caterpillars has been faster than usual.  Eventually they will hang from the top of the containers in a J-shape, which is a sign that they will form cocoons very soon.  Stay tuned…

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s been a productive week as we are all getting the hang of meeting twice a week during our Zoom meetings.  It was wonderful to have Ms. Griffiths join us on Thursday – singing with her was a lot of fun!

This Sunday is Mother’s Day – I would like to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the precious mothers. You are all a huge part of your child’s success – thank you for all that you do, all day, every day!!

Next week we will be having a Parent-Teacher Meeting through Zoom.  As communicated this morning, please do not forget to email me with the day and time that will work best for you.  It’s nice to catch up and see how we can support each other through these interesting times!

Caterpillars Have Arrived!

Stay tuned to our Zoom meetings to watch our little friends grow!

“If you desire a wish to come true, you must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.  The butterfly will carry your wish to the heavens.  As the butterfly makes no sound, it’s voice  cannot be heard by anyone but the Great Spirit.  Who will grant your wish as a reward for setting the butterfly free to return to him.”A Native American Legend

Children are very excited to watch our Caterpillars grow into beautiful Butterflies.  I will make sure I keep them updated through our zoom meetings as well as through posts on the blog so that they don’t miss a thing!

Off To A Great Start…

It has been quite an interesting time so far – learning how to live virtually!  Thank you for being so accommodating and making this journey a smooth and positive one for both me and the children.

Now that everyone is used to meeting virtually, our Zoom Meeting schedule will be as follows:

Mondays at 10:30 am

Thursdays at 2:00 pm

(it will be the same meeting ID and password each time)

Raz Kids is also all set up for our class, so please feel free to log in at your leisure.  It is a great way to get your children reading and having them read to!

A lot of the children learn how to navigate through the site independently and they also collect points while doing so which makes it more fun and rewarding for them!

Continue to stay positive and most importantly – stay safe, stay healthy!

Thinking of You!

You may be out of my sight… but never out of my mind…

Thinking of You!

As I sit here, I am thinking about all the things we would be doing together at school.  I would be watching you turning into mature little minds who make me think on my feet and make decisions at a snap of a finger.  Your smiles, your laughter, your curiosity, your kindness and your generosity all get me through my day.  I am thinking about all the good times we had and how much we learned together. I am also thinking about how things are so different now, but that we are making the most of it.  We are trying things we haven’t tried before and we are growing together in a different way.  Thank you for being so patient and trying things that you haven’t had to try before.

As I sit here, this is how I feel:

Thankful

Hopeful

Inspired

Nurtured

Kindness

Imaginative

Needed

Grateful

What are some things that you are thinking about and how are you feeling as you are thinking about them?

To My Class!

Hello Division 18!

I still remember the first day of school like it was yesterday. You were all so eager to start Kindergarten. We read a story together and played a game to learn everyone’s name.

In our time together you learned so many things. How to read, write, count to 100 and much more. The most important thing you learned was what it meant to be a good friend. You played with others, took turns, worked through problems and practiced patience. Way to go!

I wish we had more time together in the classroom and that things were not as they are. I wish that we could see each other and dance around the classroom. But unfortunately things are different and we have to make it work in a different way. I am always here for you and your families. They know how to reach me if you need me for anything.

We will get through this together and always remember that I believe in you and know you are capable of great things that will make a better world.

Love always,

Mrs. Minhas
