Dotted Pumpkins – Art in the Style of Yayoi Kusama

| Posted in Arts Education

To get into the autumn spirit, we decided to create some pumpkins, but not just any pumpkins! First we looked at the style of the Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. Here is a short video that describes her work:

We used construction paper, sharpies, and tempera paint to create the dotted pumpkins. Then we cut them out, pasted them on a dark background and used metallic markers to make designs to contrast with the dots.

These are not your average jack-o-lanterns!!
