Annie Cast Descriptions

Cast Descriptions 

Annie-The title role. A spunky independent orphan. Lots of solo singing and should be comfortable singing independently on stage. 

Orphans (Molly, Pepper, Duffy, July, Tessie, Kate and un-named orphans)- Mischievous and fun. Actors should be expressive and able to shape their own character. Group singing required.  

Miss Hannigan- The head of the orphanage but strongly dislikes her job and children. The actor should be larger than life and have a strong voice. Solo singing required.  

Grace Farrell-Oliver Warbucks’ calm, cool and classy secretary. The actor should portray a sophisticated and caring attitude. Some solo singing within songs required. 

Rooster/Lily– Miss Hannigan’s crook brother and his girlfriend. These two should work well together in their devious, funny role. Solo singing required.  

Oliver Warbucks– The confident millionaire who is charmed by Annie. The actor should portray maturity and a slighty awkwardness at first. Some solo singing required within songs. 

Drake, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh, Cecille, Annette, Chauffeur, Servants- Warbucks’ loyal help. The actors should be precise in their movements and will have fun perfecting nods and curtsies. Ensemble singing required. 

Apple Seller– They interact with Annie at the beginning of scene two. No singing requried. 

Office Ward– The police officer who returns Annie to the orphanage. No singing required. 

Bert Healy– The funny radio announcer. No singing required. 

Bundles McClosky– The likable laundry man for the orphange. No singing required. 

President Franklin D. Roosevelt- The President who helps Warbucks find Annie’s parents. No singing required.  

Louis Howe- President Roosevelt’s trustworthy aid. No singing required. 

Star-To-Be(s)– A glamorous diva(s) in the song “N.Y.C”. Solo singing within a song required. 

New Yorkers, Dog Catcher, Cop, usherette, Man, Passerby, Sound Effects Man, Children– Ensemble characters. Actors should be able to bring their own ideas to these roles. Occupations could include pickpocket, newsboys, street cleaners, families, taxi drivers, etc. Ensemble singing required.
