The children have been learning about the structural features of plants.  We know that the many fruits and vegetables that are grown on the farm have a life cycle.  It is now harvest time on the farm and all the crops are ripe and ready to be pick.  We loved picking our pumpkins right from the field!

A very big thank you to all our parent volunteers. bb We could not have had this wonderful experience without you!

Our Fieldtrip

aldor-acres

All the primary students of Parkcrest Elementary went on a fabulous fieldtrip to Aldor Acres pumpkin patch.  Many of us had never been to a working farm before.  One of the highlights of the trip was that we had the opportunity to interact with the farm animals.

One of the curricular competencies for science (grades 1-3) in the re-designed BC Curriculum is that the students are expected to, “demonstrate curiosity and a sense of wonder about the world.”  I think that all the kids have that down.  Don’t you agree? [metaslider id=2720]

The Best Part of Me!

wildDivision 7 read a book called Wild About Us by Karen Beaumont.  This book is about a warthog who celebrates all of his animal friends and the parts of their bodies that make each one unique.   We felt inspired to create images that show our best parts and why they make us special.
