Marvelous May Monday!

| Posted in Uncategorized

Good day to you all.  I hope you had a lovely weekend.  Happy Birthday to Nils.  He loves his birthday and today it is his special day.  We will sing to him tomorrow during our class meeting.

Please remember that if your family intends to have you return to Clinton school for the in-class learning experience beginning Monday, June 1, the survey emailed to your homes must be completed and returned today.  Without the completed survey, you are not able to return to school.

This week you will continue to work on your story studio writes, your array cities and your ReadWorks passages.  There will be 1 passage added this week and it will be related to oceans. It is called What’s In The Oceans? Amazing Ocean Animals.

Next week, June1, READWORKS will continue with 4 passages all related to the Ocean.  I know Bosco will be happy that READWORKS will continue next week! 🙂

Some of you have completed the pond and frog reading passages posted last week.  One of the comprehension questions asked if a river could be a habitat? A habitat is the natural home or environment of an animal, plant or other organism.  A river certainly can be a habitat.  Jocelyn shared a 5 minute video that is very interesting about a river habitat.  I have linked it below and I highly recommend you watch it.  I have also added another video that relates to our upcoming ocean reads.  Life in The Ocean will share with you the zones of the ocean. Just as the rain forests have their layers (forest floor, umderstory, canopy, emergent), the oceans have their zones.  The whales are so important to the many zones of the ocean.  Please look at both videos this week.

Tomorrow, we will meet again at 10 a.m. for our Math Super Hero Day meetingPlease arrive in your math super hero outfit.  Keep your cameras off when you arrive so that your costume will be a surprise for all when it is your turn to share. Be prepared to share: 1. who you are as a math super hero; 2. what your math power is; 3. give 1 number sentence to the date which will be for the number 26, 4. an array you may have seen in your daily experience.

Linnea wanted to contribute to our talent sharing.  Below is a photo of her in her ballet outfit.  She said that she likes ballet because she gets to learn different poses. Her favourite part is also the hardest part. It is when she gets to make big jumps called “grande jete” and gets to look like a shooting star.  Check out her video of a ballet curtsy (bow) Just click on the word Video(1). Thanks Linnea for sharing your talent.  You and Anna would have a good time dancing together.

For this week, please continue with SHAPE OF THE WEEKS and activities from the daily blog posts. Hand in your Pond Story Studio Write and Math Array City by this Friday, May 29!  See you tomorrow!
