Portfolio formatting for “Reader’s Reflection Journals” that we will be using throughout our new novel study on The Reluctant Journal of Henry K Larsen:

As we read through the novel, you will keep a reader’s response journal. You will need to make an entry for every twenty pages (or so) that we read in the book. Your journal entries will be kept in your creative writing portfolio.

You need to address the following questions in your journal (if you missed today’s class, please copy the following prompts onto a piece of paper and we’ll staple it into your portfolio on Thurs):

1) How has the plot advanced?

2) Were there any new characters introduced? Describe them.

3) Was there any vocabulary that was new to you in this section?

4) Did the story remind you of anything? Can you make personal connections to the text from experiences in your own life?

5) What do you think will happen in the next section?

6)What do you hope will happen next in the story?

7)Was your prediction correct from your last entry?

8)Do you have any questions about what you’ve read in this section?
