English 11FP:

Read p. 46-89 in Moon of the Crusted Snow.

Remaining class time to complete full set of journal prompts (using criteria sheet) for Section 2 (p. 46-89 only). If students did not complete this in class, it must be done for homework and will be collected at the start of class Tuesday.

English 12: 

Read p. 17-37 in OMAM.

Ch 2 analysis questions to be answered in full sentences (due at the start of class Tues). For each question EXCEPT #3, you must properly integrate and cite one quotation to support your answer: 

1) How is the bunkhouse described? What does the description tell the reader about the men who live there? (2 marks)

2) What do we find out about Curley, his wife, and his father through George’s discussions with the others? (2 marks)

3) How would you describe the relationship between Curley and his wife? List five adjectives describing Curley’s personality. List five adjectives describing his wife’s personality. (11 marks)

4) Re-read Steinbeck’s description of Slim on p. 33. What does this tell you about his character? Is he a man to be trusted and looked up to? (2 marks)

5) What is Lennie eagerly talking about on p. 36? (1 mark)

HOMEWORK: Read p. 38-65 in OMAM. There will be a reading quiz at the START of class on Tues (June 4) on Ch 3 ONLY (not the whole book). Please ensure you are on time to class; if you are late, you will not have an opportunity to re-take this quiz. Please note, there will be an in-class writing assessment following the quiz so please ensure you have your novel with you.
