Can you hear me?

Thursday, April 29th

Good morning Division 8!

Looks like a lot of you tried the Math: Tower Challenge! The winner today is:

Diya – Her tower was 223cm tall! They created a “people” tower! Way to go!

Dawson was a close second place building a tower that was 165cm tall!

Thank you to the following students who built their very TALL towers yesterday: Diya, Dawson, Angelo, Brandon, Quinn, Elynn, Shahid, John, Elie and Gabriel.  I loved seeing all the different things you used to make the towers!

Today’s blog is a listening activity! Grass, Nature, Field, Spring, Meadow Click on the button below to hear your message for today!

Jobs for today:Music, Relax, Headphone

  1. Listen to the message! (Pssst…by the way, I made one oopsies – Can you find the mistake when you hear my message?)
  2. Draw a picture of what comes to your mind when you hear the poem ‘Mother Earth’ by the indigenous author, Denise McKay, and send it to Satpaul.Binng@burnabyschools.ca. Who does the author compare Mother Earth to in her poem? What do you visualize (picture in your mind) when you listen to the poem? You can comment down below or draw a picture – YOUR CHOICE!
  3. Head over to Microsoft teams for your Math: Family Feet Challenge! Yup, I said FEET! Good luck!

Love,

Ms. Binng

In case you can’t hear the poem:

Mother Earth
She reminds me of my own Mother.
She has seen many battles and has endured
each and every one of them.
She has never stopped supporting me though.
She still continues to protect me and looks over me.
She gave me the tools I need to survive.
I return the favor by supporting Her, protecting Her, and
giving Her the tools she needs to survive.
Most of all I am grateful every day for the gifts my
Mother and Mother Earth has given me and continues
to give me each and every day.

  1. Hi ms Binng i heard you read us the poem mother earth and i visualized that i was in that poem living in the island hanging out outdoors, going up trails, and having a sip of coconut juice 🙂

  2. The poem tells us about our country which is as loveable as our real mother and we should also provide our support to our mother land
