Family Support

Ms. McAllister, our wonderful school counselor, has updated her blog with many resources to support parents and families in these unprecedented times.  https://sd41blogs.ca/mcallisters/

Online Learning

Online learning means you and your child get to be more independent and do what works best for your family.  Your child can come check my blog and Teams at any time and do the activities right away, in the evening, or throughout the day.  There’s no need for them to stick to “school hours.”  My job right now is to provide you opportunities to continue learning.  That is going to look different in every household.  Do what works best for you and your family!

I am planning on posting opportunities for learning on Teams that will roughly follow this schedule:

Monday – Math, Language Arts, Science, PE

Tuesday – French (alternating weekly with Duolingo or a phonics practice), Health, Math, Art, PE

Wednesday – DHOTA, Band/Drama, Language Arts, Math, PE

Thursday – French (vocabulary practice), Science, PE

Friday – Band/Drama, Math, Community Connection, PE

Ms. Wilson is posting a separate schedule for her Social Studies, ADST, and Career learning – http://sd41blogs.ca/wilsonb/

Ms. Veikle is also updating her blog regularly with music activities for the kids to do – http://sd41blogs.ca/veiklef/

Please remember that we are here to support families and to provide the children with opportunities to keep their minds stimulated.  Due dates on my assignments are guidelines and not set in stone.  Our lives are all upside down right now!  Encourage your child to do their best, but to not stress about school.  Our mental health is the most important thing right now.

If you need any help, your child is spending too much time doing schoolwork, you would like more learning resources, or you have any questions please email me!  I am here for you 🙂

Connecting with Students

I will be attempting to host a weekly meeting on Teams to replace our Friday Community Circle time.  These are completely optional for the students.  They do not need to have a webcam or mic, but if they do, they will have opportunities to periodically turn their mic or video on and say a few things to the group.  There is simply a typed chat in the meeting as well for students to share how they’re doing.

Students are also encouraged to email me or to post in Teams if they need any help.  I can email with students as well as phone call or video chat.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.
