April 20-25 – Weekly Assignments

Hello Division 2! I hope you are staying sunny even though the skies are cloudy!

Weekly Assignments Chart – April 20-25

I am looking forward to seeing you (from a socially-responsible distance) during your scheduled pick-up appointments this week.  If the time I emailed to parents does not work, please let me know and we can arrange another time.

For pick-ups, please come to the North-side door where you line up in the mornings, coming from the parking lot side.  I will have your belongings on a desk just outside the door, and will be there to say “hello!”  When you leave, I will ask that you go down the steps and in front of the school.  This way, we will have only one-way traffic, to reduce the risk of passing others.  Your appointments are scheduled at 15-minute intervals to give a bit of time between each.

I will have your belongings (binders, pencil cases, etc) and a packet of school work for the coming weeks.  It may seem like a lot all at once, but it is not meant to be done all at once!  I will provide prompts and lessons through our blog, and continue to post assignments that can be done online.  The paper work will be used to support other lessons, and give you the chance to do school work without being on the computer all day (I know that I am getting tired of sitting at a computer, and I imagine you might be too)!

Due to scheduling and learning how to properly use video calls, I will have to cancel our Class Meeting for today.  I will try my best to have one set up for Wednesday at 11:00 am.  My apologies too all of you.

I have made a special order for a book called Front Desk by Kelly Yang, which I would like to do as a read-aloud novel study with you! I plan to record videos and post links to them here, so you can listen as we go along.  There will be literacy work to go along with the novel, just like you did for Lit Circles.  There is also the option to do an extension: if you would like, you can do an independent novel study of your own alongside our class novel study.  I am supposed to pick up the book this evening, so for today, you can listen to the first chapter read by the author herself:

I have signed our class up for yet another online learning platform.  Prodigy Math is played like a computer game, so it might be a fun way to make sure we are practicing math!  Here are instructions for how to set up your account: prodigy-students-instructions-0A3468-1587342491

  • Hi Ms. Anderson,
Mateo and I just noticed the new title page photo!!! IT IS SO AWESOME 🙂
We are trying to guess everyone!

Who drew it? Tell them it’s we love it please!

    Diana and Mateo:)

    • Hi Diana and Mateo,
I am glad you noticed the new title page 😊. It was coloured by one of our classmates, who was very attentive to the details in clothing colour choices! She did an awesome job!
I traced students’ photos to create the colouring page of our class, and it is included in the paper packet picked up last week. I have also included a link to a pdf of all the colouring pages on the Online Learning Resources page if you want to print extra copies. It is listed under the Art/ADST section.
      I hope you’re having a good weekend!
      Ms. Anderson

      • P.S. If you’d like a hint for who’s who in the drawing, I went with the alphabetical order of first names and grade level, with the exception of Mrs. Lee and me on either side in the front row. 🙂

    • The class code for Epic is ktk0857. It is listed on the Online Learning Resources page, if you need it again! 🙂
