National ASL Day and Scheduling Surveys Reminder

In addition to being one of our classmate’s birthdays yesterday… (HBD!!).. I found out late in the day that it was also National ASL Day!  Watch this video to practice some phrases you might already know or to learn some new ones!

I have been following Signed With Heart on social media for a few months and she has a multitude of clear videos to learn a few signs at a time, if you would like to learn more.

I sent out an email to parents and students yesterday with three surveys.  In case you missed it, I am including the links to them here.  Please only answer the scheduling surveys once per student, and please remember to include the student’s name in Question 1 of the survey so I can know who to schedule when.  Thank you so much!

  1. Scheduling a regular time for me to call for a weekly check-in.  I would like to know when in the day/week might work best for me to call to check in with students one-on-one.

  2. Scheduling a time for you to pick up your child’s school supplies and other learning materials (I am planning a paper packet to send home). We are scheduling appointments for students to pick up their belongings and new school work while maintaining proper social distancing.  I will send out a schedule, after everyone has completed this survey, and students can pick up their supplies one at a time from the North-side door by our classroom. 3. A class parent has generously offered to share her knowledge on COVID-19, as a nurse in ER.  Since there is so much information going around it can be overwhelming, she offered to do a video call Q&A to answer any students’ or parents’ questions.  This survey is to gather questions in advance of the Q&A so that she can prepare.  When we set a time, I will send out a video call invitation to students, and parents are welcome to join in as well. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  • Thank you for the survey. It’s done.
Knowing the sign language is really helpful all times and now as we are practising social distancing i feel the sign language in the best way to communicate with each other by spreading less germs. Thank you for the video Ms Anderson. Will try to participate more.

    • Thank you for completing the surveys, and for all of your participation!
