What an exciting end to the day! Ms Derbitsky put on her chef’s had and shared with us her special (and very simple) recipe for cooking up some of the greens we harvested from the garden on Friday.
First we heard a quiet sizzle. Then the sizzle grew louder and faster and the oil bounced around the pan. Ms Derbitsky added the garlic and very quickly the students noticed a delicious smell fill the room.
We were getting hungry and could not wait to test out what Ms Derbitsky was cooking up for us!
Finally it was time to eat! Everyone asks for seconds, thirds, fourths, and more! Some students discover that they prefer the greens fresh, while others were delighted by the seasoned taste of the cooked greens. The carrots continued to be a big hit, with students clamouring for more!
The joy was evident on the large smiles that filled the room as we cleaned up our dishes and headed off home, bellies and hearts full of the love and kind energy that went into growing our garden delights!
I wonder what we will be cooking next in the “Garden Buddies’ Kitchen”!
that’s really nice. Glad to see the kids are enjoying that and teaching them how to cook and most importantly eating thier vegetables. LOL
