{"id":169,"date":"2020-04-13T23:25:06","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T06:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/yazdanyarm\/?page_id=169"},"modified":"2020-04-13T23:35:53","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T06:35:53","slug":"daily-5","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/yazdanyarm\/daily-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily 5!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Division 10 we have been working on building our <strong>\u201cbrain stamina\u201d <\/strong>for reading and writing activities.<\/p>\n<p>We started the year with being able to work <strong>INDEPENDENTLY<\/strong> with reading\/writing activities for <strong>only 2 minutes<\/strong> \u2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In March we were at 15 minutes as a class!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This means that all the students in our class can sit independently for 15 minutes and be engaged with reading and writing!!!!!!!!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>My Suggesstion:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In addition to the literacy activities that I post weekly, and the Raz-Kids online program, in which you will be guiding\/supporting your children \u2026..<\/li>\n<li>Have your children work on<strong> Independent<\/strong> reading and writing activities daily if possible!<\/li>\n<li>This will help our students continue to build their stamina<\/li>\n<li>AND will <strong>you<\/strong> give you a 15 minute break during the day \ud83d\ude0a<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><u>\u201cRead to Self\u201d:<\/u><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong>What this looks like<a href=\"https:\/\/sd41-my.sharepoint.com\/:i:\/g\/personal\/e18507_burnabyschools_ca\/Edizgce7oXlGt1be576moTYB_FX3ZuqLzqJWTmXAoA3hUw?e=TorRVi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-171\" src=\"http:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/yazdanyarm\/files\/2020\/04\/Read-to-Self-1-e1586845465510-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/yazdanyarm\/files\/2020\/04\/Read-to-Self-1-e1586845465510-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sd41blogs.ca\/yazdanyarm\/files\/2020\/04\/Read-to-Self-1-e1586845465510.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Click on the picture and read it with your child<\/strong> (they should be very familiar with the expectations as we do this daily in our class)<\/li>\n<li>Set a <strong>timer<\/strong> for you child<\/li>\n<li><strong>Your child has to be following all the expectations<\/strong>\u00a0(Example: reading the whole time, staying in one spot etc.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Let your child choose the spot they want to sit,<\/strong> they should feel comfortable and this should be an enjoyable task (Example: they can lay on the couch, lean against a wall etc.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Give your child several books to read<\/strong> (the more choices the better \u2013 and the longer they stay engages). <strong>Suggestion:<\/strong> add the books that I sent home in March to their pile of books<\/li>\n<li><strong>Move up the minutes: <\/strong>after your child has been successful reading at 15 minutes for a few days move to 16, 17, 18 , 19, 20 minutes<\/li>\n<li><strong>If you are able \u2013<\/strong> it would be great if you could join your child and read during this time too!
